Always good to generalize based on a single scenario.

My problem was that the Heat just made excuses for losing rather than giving the Cs credit.

James is averaging 8.5 TOs this year.

How long can the Heat use the work in progress excuse? The Cs started 11-1 in 2007 and didnt worry about needing time to "gel."

Rofl, they shouldn't have to make the excuse, it's been how many games. Seriously, they have two of the elite players in the NBA, with one of the premier scoring PF in the NBA as well. Seriously, the NBA is 82 games long, with lots of streaks. They basically revamped their entire team, so it's pretty ridiculous to say right now that they're just making excuses, and implying that they're overrated.

Give it until 40 games, and we'll see how they are then.

Huge night for Rondo.

I didn't imply anywhere that they were overrated, just that they made a ton of excuses for the first loss. The only reason I referenced the 07 Cs was because that was a revamped roster as well.

They were also 3 players who were in their 30s, and also, in their late primes. Lebron, Wade and Bosh are 26, 29 and 26.

I'm not following your point here. Lebron, Wade, and Bosh ate very experienced.

Nice comeback by the Bulls. Dominated that 4th quarter. James Johnson stepped up big time. Derrick Rose will be in the MVP discussion this year.

They're not as mature as Allen, KG, Pierce. Players who are in their 30s, two of them who were past their prime actually, are probably going to gel easier than 3 superstars who are in their prime years. Lebron is 26, and has never had to share the ball in his career. Bosh was in a similar situation in Toronto. Allen, KG and Pierce were expected to gel quickly, while the Heat's trio was sort of a huge question mark.

How you can compare them is the point that I'm having a hard time following.

Do you think they should have traded for Melo? I personally thought they should have. IMO, Melo with Rose would be lethal, and it would put them in contention, right up there with the Heat and the Celtics in the East.

I would have made that trade. Without Melo, they're still going to compete in the East (they could be as high as the #3 seed this year).

That said, Noah has developed into a much better player than I thought he'd be. He was a gym rat last offseason, which has allowed him to crash the boards and give the Bulls a lot of second chance baskets. His defense is also much improved.

Melo is a tradeoff. You lose a presence in the middle in Noah but gain a legit #1 scoring option. Not that Rose can't be or isn't a legit #1 scoring option, but it'd be nice to have someone else carry the load some games.

A big three of Melo, Rose, and Boozer would match up with the Heat, Celtics, and Magic. As it is, I think the Bulls fall a little short with Noah, Rose, and Boozer. They'll still be in those games, though.

Joakim Noah is getting up there. As a Nuggets fan I'd obviously say no to that trade.

Not the best argument; Noah is a year younger than Melo. If I were the Nuggets, I wouldn't have made the trade straight up. I'd have asked for one or two more complimentary pieces. But keep in mind there aren't many good centers in the NBA right now, which gives Noah a lot of value.

Melo is in his prime, and one of the best scorers in the NBA, which is something that would help the Bulls. They'd lose Noah's physical presence, but I personally would be willing to trade that off for Melo's offensive gift. They're already in the discussion, yes, but they still appear to be a step below the C's/Heat. With that trade, I think they'd be on par with them. Also, I think the Nugs would want picks too, Melo's very, very valuable.

One other thing about that hypothetical trade. It's pretty clear now that Melo wants to be on the Knicks at some point. If he's traded this year, the Nuggets won't get much in return. If he leaves as a FA next season, they'll get nothing in return. At least with the Bulls, they would have gotten some value for him.

Love the depth on the Bulls this year. Deng with an outside shot adds a new dimension as well. I'm curious to see how they'll look when Boozer arrives.
