I agree, the BCS is total crap. I hate it so bad. I get in really heated debates with my friend Jess over this all the time. She's an unshamed BSC apologist. This is debate is my 2nd favorit sports debate. #1 being who's better: Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. You'd think it'd be obviously Brady, some people don't agree.

USC may be the most overrated team in the history of sports. They play 2 or 3 games a season where their opponent even has the slightest chance, and they just act like a big pile of douche bags. I really hope the Browns can start sucking a little harder so they can get Leinart so I can hate him that much more, and it'll be guaranteed that he'll never win again.

So no matter who is #1 it's cool, as long as it's not USC.

Pretty interesting. I think it is justified, but most people are on USC's nuts. I don't see why going undefeated last year carries over to this year's standings. #1 should be the best team, and Texas has been more impressive with a tougher schedule, making them the legitimate #1.

I dont think its justified. Who has Texas playd that so much better then USC's opponets? Oaklahoma sucks, Texas Tech is overrated. The win at Ohio State was impressive but IMO its not tougher then USC beating UD at South Bend. Plus USC has yet to face UCLA. You have to knock off the champs to be the champs. Thats what the BCS doesnt take into its formula. Hopefully both teams will meet up in the Rose Bowl because they both are great teams but IMO USC is #1 untill the lose.

Before Texas went on the road and beat OSU -- when was the last time OSU had lost a non-conference home game? Besides, I think the people who've voted for Texas in the human polls are justifiably holding the means by which USC beat Notre Dame against them. And no, you shouldn't have to beat the Champions to be #1... last season has nothing to do with this season. That's the strength of the computers... they don't take last year in consideration.

I just said the Texas win vs OSU was impressive. Your not breaking any ground there. So how many people will look at Texas as the NC if they win it without playing an undefeated USC? Thats just BS. Besides, Virgina Tech and Georgia have tougher schedules then both of them combined so if you want to include tough schedules and undefeated teams those 2 teams are certainly have an arguement if they are left out of the Rose Bowl.

You also said it wasn't more impressive than USC's win at Notre Dame... how was it not?

Notre Dame had already lost a home game to Michigan State before that game -- meanwhile, OSU had been lights out in non-conference home games. Besides, as I already mentioned, the controversy surrounding the means by which USC beat Notre Dame by -- USC lost that game if not for poor officiating. Any of 2 missed penalty calls would've been game over for USC.

Well for one OSU isnt beter then ND. OSU cant move the ball. You bring up the 2 missed penelties but I can bring up the fact that Texas was out played for 3 quarters in that OSU game and the only reason they won was that OSU couldnt hold on to the football.

USC was outplayed for 3 quarters as well! I'm not going to reward USC for mistakes in officiating. As for not being able to hold onto the ball... the OSU player wasn't just running and the ball slipped out... their last fumble was forced. Texas won the game over OSU fair and square over a team that is lights out at home... USC won a road game at Notre Dame, where they JUST won their first home game, this year. No matter how you look at it, USC shouldn't have won that game.

There called turnovers for a reason. OSU turned the ball over. If they dont turn the ball over Texas loses. What officiating mistakes were made that were so bad that USC shouldnt have won? Reggie Bush pushes Lienart into the end zone? That happens all the time and its NEVER called. I heard the spot was bad but I never saw a replay that showed where exactly the ball landed out of bounds. The bottomline is ND gave up a friggin 50+ yard passing play at the end of the game. Maybe if ND stops them there they dont have to worry about "bad calls". Too bad ball calls are never overturned after the game because it goes down in the books as a win for USC and a loss for ND. The same goes for Texas and OSU who stinks.

The push actually doesn't happen as often as you'd like to think it does because when the QB is in the pile of players and the pile is moving, it's not a penalty. Not very often does the QB get stuffed spin to his side and get a two handed push to the chest. You admit it was a missed call. What difference does it make how often it's called? A rule is a rule and one of the higher ups in terms of NCAA Football officiating said it should've been a penalty.

The spot... I can live with the spot.

Another penalty had to do with Pete Carroll's son, and Assistant Coach, was down by the goalline calling for a timeout. Not only did they have no timeouts, but being by the goalline, he was obviously WELL outside of the coaches box.

Both penalties... neither called.

As for the fumble in the OSU game -- it was a turnover, but like I said, it was a FORCED turnover. He didn't just drop the ball.

USC won by 3. The Notre Dame kicker, Fitzpatrick, shanked a very makable FG not long before USC's final possession. Really... is that any different than OSU fumbling?

We can argue this untill we are blue in the face. IMO a playoff system would make this a whole lot easier.

Agreed.

Let's face it. Even though I think they deserve to be #1, Texas is only in first to cause controversy and to get people talking.

When texas loses that last game of the year at Texas A&M or blows it in the Big XII Championship we will be able to put this 'UT is #1!' crap to an end.

I don't think so. Your boys from A&M cost me $10 when they played CU. I just handed over the money after the 1st quarter when CU had, like, a 20 point lead. And Texas dismantled CU.

Don't get me wrong I love USC, but their schedule is a joke except for 2 maybe 3 games

Texas schedule isnt much better but it doesnt matter, if these 2 run the table they will both be in the national title game

I have no idea what A&M team came out against Colorado, but that wasn't the same Aggies that have been showing up the rest of the time. We're 5-2 and 3-1 in the Big XII and that game prior to the showdown is a game in Norman against OU... if we take that, who knows what kind of momentum that will bring. Add in the fact that Kyle Field is one of the toughest places (if not the toughest) to play in the ntion and we can hang with texas.

Tell that to Texas Tech.

The computers put Texas in front of USC, so it isn't people's fault. I would love a playoff system, but that isn't happening any time soon. Bowl games make money, and that is all that matters. They don't care about a National Champion, just the bucks and the "academics".

VT has a "tougher" schedule in the ACC, and if all three teams win out Texas has the disadvantage in scheduling because their remaining opponents (with apologies to Kansas and A&M and...Baylor) are not THAT hard.

Everyone hates the Big 12 for screwing with the system. ;)

Fair enough. I figured it was just a bad showing. For what it's worth, when Reggie McNeal is on his game, I'd take him over Vincent Young.

Basically it doesn't matter at this point. If USC and Texas take care of their business the rest of the year, they'll play eachother for the National Title.

Everybody thought that what's would happen when Oklahoma lost to K-State in the Big 12 Championship two years ago. And then shocker.

Eh, I don't know, See Red. I just watched first hand an Iowa State team hand it to Texas A&M this last weekend, and am traveling up to Lubbock to watch texas tech break some offensive records. I'll also be at the game in College Station to end the year against texas, and I don't know how much confidence I have that we can knock off UT. I believe we stand a chance, but it's going to be extremely tough.

It'll be tough... but I think Texas A&M is capable of it, especially at home. I don't think they'll pull it off, though
