If all goes as planed 2006 could be a lot like 2004, If schilling returns to form we could have a 1-2 like Pedro and Schilling, I really feel confident that paps will have a huge season next year. Nixon's power numbers went down this year, so in a contract year expect him to have 2003 numbers if he can stay healthy. Delcarmen and Hansen(maybe Wagner or Ryan) if matured could be excellent set-up guys for a healthy and dominant Keith Foulke, at age 30 i really expect Foulke to have a huge season in a contract year, trying to earn his last large payday of his big league career. If Foulke fails again this time their will be a back up plan, either Hansen or Ryan/Wagner. The retooled offense with a few new everyday faces youk, Pedrioa should bring stability at the end of the lineup, and hopefully the sox will add a big bat a first base, possibly Kenerko or Huff. Oh by the way the Sox still have Papi and Manny(whom they will keep) and that will provide enough offense. We will still have a solid wake, Clement wells(if he stays-doughtfull) and Bronson. I cant wait for next year it is going to be exciting as hell with all the young/new faces... Hopefully we can over take the Yankees and make it back to the W.S!!!!!!!

anyone wanna let nixon go and sign giles for right field? he could be a 35 HR hitter in fenway.

Sounds good, but I don't want to see Trot go, and I doubt Giles would put up those numbers.

But, yes, I am very excited about this year. I finally got enough money to get MLB Extra Innings next year, so I'll be able to watch them every day.

No, I say give trot another year. I feel like he's bound to have a good season next year, if he stays healthy. Sign Papi long term now, make manny feel like he's an important part of this team and one that we're not just trying to get rid of. Our best chance to win is definitely with Ramirez in the lineup. Pedroia should be the second baseman, even if it takes him awhile to get going. The sox can use some exciting young players to mix in with the veterans.

I don't think Papelbon will have an amazing year next year, but I think he'll do at least as well as Clement did this year, if not slightly better overall. He does have great stuff so I'm interested to see how he holds up over a long season; he seems like he's a horse.

So the lineup for next year:

Damon

Pedroia

Ortiz

Manny

Huff

Varitek

Nixon

Youkilis

Renteria

Pitching:

Schilling

Wakefield

Papelbon

Clement

Miller

(Wells leaves, Arroyo is either in the pen or moved on).

Pen:

Bradford

Myers

Timlin

Hansen

Ryan (I hope)

Delcarmen

They cant let Trot walk

(1) He's under contract at $8 million for 2006 (2) He had put up double the offensive numbers of what was done in 2004, with offseason surgery im sure he'll be back to 2003 form

What makes you tihnk Giles would sign with us? I mean maybe if we made sure we could sign him but you make it sound so easy.

Damon is probably going, he was quoted after the Game 3 loss, that he wanted a 5 year deal, no way in hell is he getting that here.

Ramirez could join him, I think the Mets like the taste of winning, and they might offer a good enough package for him.

Our lineup could look like this.

C: Vartiek

1B: Petagine/Konerko/Youkilis

2B: Pedoria/Cora/Graffinanio

SS: Renteria

3B: Mueller/Youkillis

LF: Ramriez/Giles

CF: Giles/Damon/Baldelli?

RF: Nixon

DH: Ortiz

Petagine probably could do a servicable job at first, for only 300 K. He'd probably hit about .275 with 20 HR's, and a nice OBP. That may not sound attractive, but hey it's better than Millar.

Pedoria doesn't seem ready yet, but if he has a good spring training, he'll probably be penciled in at 2nd. If he doesn't, why not give the job to Cora, he's a superb defender, who hits about .250. He can hold down the postion for a few months until Pedoria is ready to step in at 2nd.

Youkilis is long overdue for the 3rd base job.

If Ramirez goes, than I guess we'd have enough money to sign Brian Giles to come in and play LF. He gets on base a ton, and has some pop in his bat. Remember his days in Pittsburgh? He had an OPS over 1.000 each year.

Rocco Baldelli would be a great player to add. He might be worth a swap of Anibal Sanchez for the young CF.

Pitching

1. Schilling

2. Wells?

3. Clement

4. Wakefield

5. Papelbon/Arroyo

Bullpen

CL: Foulke

SU: Timlin

MR: Arroyo

MR: Hansen

MR: Delcarmen

LR: Dinardo

LH: Myers

Schilling should be back to form, maybe not completely, but a 3.50 ERA is something RSN could expect.

Wells could retire, he probably won't, but he'll have close to similar year as he did in 2005.

Papelbon will explode next year, he'll probably be the best pitcher on our staff.

Arroyo needs to be traded, or sent to the bullpen as a ROOGY.

Speaking of bullpens, ours could be pretty good next year. Foulke, if healthy, should get back to his dominant self. Timlin probably will have an ERA around 3.00. Hansen should be domiant, when he regains his slider. Delcarmen looked pretty good in his limited time up with the club. Dinardo earned a spot with his sub 2.00 ERA, and Arroyo held righties to a low average last year.

I wouldn't mind seeing Baldelli in CF. As for Nixon, you can't get rid of the dirt dog. His bat was a little quieter this year, but he's still a threat at the plate, plus he has a good fielding upside. As for Arroyo, I wouldn't get rid of him. He can pitch from the pen and the starting job, so he's sort of a utility pitcher. Plus, if Miller has injury problems again next year, it would be nice to have a guy who can win some games, just in case.

NOBODY is giving Johnny Damon anything more than a 3 year deal. I think he'll stay with Boston.

You don't think Steinbrenner will give him three? I think that Damon probably signs a 4 year 48 million dollar deal with New York.

Sounds about right to me.

I think the sox will offer 4 years as well. The first two with pretty high salary, the last two incentive laden for more than that, but less if he does not perform.
