Angels deserved that crap for that bogus call on Cano. They get that one right, and the Yankees are playing in the LCS.

I was just going to say that. Red Sox fans lets not forget Chuck Knoblauch's supposed tag on Jose Offerman in the ALCS in '99. Umps make mistake it happens. From the thousands of replays it was a hard call, the ump didnt have 12 diffrent camera angels, he had a s***** view of a really hard friggin call, and no help from the 3rd base ump.

I think it has more to do with the fact that the Red Sox (and their fans) have been killed by bad calls in postseasons past and therefore hate bad umpiring in the playoffs. Even in 2004 they had like 4 bad calls against them and for once the umpires overturned them and got it right.

We all just hate to see a team lose because of, or in part because of a bad call.

I'll agree, those were bad calls that got overturned(like the call was bad, but then overtured to a good one)...But I think, if you make a call, you stick with it

I think having meetings with all the umps to change a call is really stupid, they might as well get a reply challenge then, becuase they have meetings, and overturn the calls to the right ones, but also have meetings and don't overturn wrong calls, so it doesn't even out

As for the White Sox.....I think the Angles catcher shoulda tagged AJ, even if he didn't think the ball hit the ground, he had to have known that the glove hit the ground, so just to be safe...tag the guy

I missed that play. They said that Cano was inside the diamond when he was running to 1B or whatever. I'm not sure, but can you tell me what exactly happened?

There were 2 outs and runner on 1st and second, Cano struck out, but the ball got away from the catcher, Cano ran to first, and when the catcher threw it to the firstbaseman(sorry, I don't know thir names), it went past him, then they called Cano out becuase he wasn't in the little running path, therefor he interfeared with the play and should be out. Only problem was, Cano took a step out of the box/path, and the very next one in the Path, so it really wasn't so far out of the Box to be called out...and the Ump wasn't even standing at the line to have a clear view, he was standing away, and couldn't have had a clear view of what happened..

But the bad part about the call is that Cano in no way interfeard with the 1st baseman, he just flat out missed the ball

Posted
Yeah, for some reason he was running on the inside of the line when he should have been running straight at the firstbaseman or inside the box. It was sort of like he was trying to be hit by the throw if the throw were not wild off the bag.
Posted
Well the first basemen for the Angels was set up on the other side of the bag, so when Molina threw the ball hit hit Cano. If the 1st baseman was on the normal side of 1st he wouldnt of been hit.

Cano was on the grass.

But this should prompt a change in the way umps call strikes. He pumped his fist which in my mind and nearly every other baseball fans mind means OUT. I saw he did that throughout the game but he didn't say anything, umps say no catch when the ball is dropped/trapped/w/e and Paul and Pyrzenski BOTH said they heard nothing. A way to eliminate this is to ring someone up with some f***ing animation. Scream and wave/pump your arms so they KNOW hes out. Its not like they didn't know but w/e... Like that ump who flips his arm straight up when strike three is called, I guarantee you hear him talking behind the plate.

hey i guess the white sox's new theme is if you're not cheating your not trying to win

The White Sox didn't cheat, they played smart baseball

Its a heads up play and I doubt there are many other players who would done the same

On the Cano point- The ball didn't hit Robby, it was a bad throw and a bad play by Erstad at first. He wasn't on the grass when he reached the bag either. It was a bad call, it happens.

That's not what I'm saying. My point is, s*** like that happens and if you are going to complain about the call you didn't get, don't forget the bogus one you got the week prior.

Red Ruffing 15 is absolutely right. It was a smart play. If the ump doesn't CALL you out (not waving his arms or doing a dance.... actually CALLing you out), I suspect you're not out. If the catcher thinks strike three means an out, then he's assuming something. I tried to find something in the rules on MLB.com, but couldn't find anything that addressed whether or not the umpire has to say "you're out". I did like how Josh Paul implied that he knew the ump signaled out, even though the ump was behind him.

Here's your conspiracy theory .....Graffanino was a former White Sox.......Josh Paul was a former White Sox...... any connection ???

can you guys hear yourselves?

That plays both ways.

waaahhhh. nobody is giving the White Sox credit! waaaaaaahhhhhhh.

Well it's pretty obvious fox wants the white sox in the world series.

That's the funniest thing I've ever heard...I hope it was a joke. Instead of looking at the positives of this game, i.e. Buehrle pitched awesome and AJ made a great heads up play, they ignore that and feel sorry for the Angels. How could you ever say that; the media hates the White Sox, always have, always will. Don't know why, don't think I ever will...this is utter ******** if some of you think the White Sox are paying people off. Whatever.

Posted
Look, we haven't paid anybody off in baseball for over 85 years. Ok so there was that one little indiscretion in 1919, coulda happened to anybody. I know in the (un)glory years of the 70's, we would have been happy if anyone paid for our players ..... mobsters, owners, whatever.

Yeah, they both sucked really bad and they're showing everyone why we got rid of them. Both of them made SO MANY mistakes for us, it's kind of weird, but what do you mean by that? Like they're paying off these guys? I hope not...

Everyone in baseball bet on games back then, the 1919 White Sox just happened to get caught. I can't seriously believe that some of you think that they're cheating. Unbelievable.

I'm just trying to stir the pot, get some people foaming at the mouth, that kind of thing. What's the point of having a message board if you can't get people worked up ??

It now appears that two White Sox fans have assumed control of the Red Sox board. YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD ..................YES !

Speaking of Ken Harrelson, did he call the game on radio? I wonder how he sounded like. The guy has to be the most biased play-by-play announcer ever.

Well, I hate to be the one to break you the news, but he's the White Sox announcer. Not the road announcer...he can be biased, he's not a national commentator. You want to talk about biases? How about Chris Berman's bias toward the Red Sox in the ALDS? Now that's something to complain about, he's not supposed to do that, yet he was on your side since day one. And how about the ESPN bias? How about the bias we have to put up with in the local and national media? We put up with your biases in the NATIONAL media, I think you can put up with Hawk for 2 and a half hours.

Harrelson is not one of our best. The radio guys, in particular John Rooney, are way better. However, in the world of "homers" in the booth, no one beat Jack Brickhouse for the cubs. Rooney is leaving after this year, look for him on a national stage. He's real good, and we'll miss him. Farmer's a little below average, Rooney made him sound good.

Red Sox fans must be nappin'. See you White Sox fans tomorrow. Maybe we can get this board reworked. The name "Talksox" is OK, just need to change the colors of the borders, stick up the White Sox logo, stuff like that. Oh well, gotta leave work.

You have to undrstand 1) Almost EVERYONE on this board hates Hawk. Get over it as you and your "White Sox Nation" (I head that on ESPN radio this morning LMAO  ) like to say. 2) We understand ESPN and FOX's biasedness. Its just they aren't that much bias towards us as you think. I missed this years ALDS (mostly anyway) due to basketball practice, so I can't say much about this year.
