well its not like the yankees are a young team anymore.

But theyre still relatively young men in great shape. Is it too much to ask them to limit injuries this year?

I dont take any of that Sheff stuff seriously, he just needs to grab some attention from time to time. When the season starts and he is out on the field he will be fine. Man's a gamer.
Like when he wanted to be traded by Milwaukee, he admitted to deliberately making errors. What a gamer! What else would I expect from 26. He must watch Yankee games through Rose-colored glasses.

Man you are such an idiot. It is possible that a man can mature in all those years. Because he did that in Milwaukee, years ago, because he wanted to be traded (no excuse) you are going to say he's not a gamer? Sheffield is out there everyday giving 137% He played the 2004 Season with ONE Good Shoulder. He is practically the heart of our offense and you are going to say he's not a gamer? Crunch time, I'm gonna call on Sheffield as one of the guys I want up there.

I think they are Rose-colored and pinstriped.

Let's not forget Sheff playing the race card in both Milwaukee and LA to get out of town. When this guy gets something in his head, when he finds a reason to be unhappy, he runs with it.

Right, I agree. However that is off-the field. You cant deny that when Sheffield is on the field he's a gamer. Always ready and giving better than his best. You can see it in the man's eyes for crying out loud!

I agree, Sheff is a producer when he's on the field. But, Sheff wasn't upset in 2004 when he sacraficed his body for the team. Now he's upset. I doubt he makes any sacrafices for them when he's pissed.

Good point. However we dont know if he's pissed, he switches so much it gets hard toi keep up. He's mad for some reason, then he gets happy when he learns we intend to pick it up, then he's mad again because he thinks they were dicking him, and then he's happy after a chat...he needs to just make up his mind already. God knows what he'll get mad at next.

He was a real stand up guy when he threatened the Yankees and Mets, when there were rumors last year that he would be traded to the Mets. His threats were along the lines that the Mets would be sorry if they traded for him. It sounded like he was threatening to not perform at 100% for the Mets. We know that he would not walk away from $13 million. Yes, I guess you are right. He has matured a lot since his days in Milwaukee. I love your Rose-colored pinstriped perspective.

Were you trying to be funny? You failed. Badly.

No, I wasn't. You might think Sheffield is a great player on the field who pours his heart out on the field, but he's no better to me than Barry Bonds. Praise him if you want, but I just don't like him.

I admit last year was a mess with that situation. However are you going to deny that when he's on the field for us, he is always at his best? This man gives it his all and is so aggressive. Always displaying an admiral effort. Regardless of what you guys say, I believe that Sheffield is a gamer.

He's a dick. Everyone can admit that.

It would seem easy to condemn Sheffield after the Milwaukee incident, but this a different situation. I'd like to see how the Yankees deal with Sheffield. If he starts booting balls, and striking out on purpose, he'll get traded. That won't help his cause.

Sheffield is like Manny. They both have mental problems, but you deal with it because of the productivity. The only difference is that Sheffield has Tourette's, whereas Manny seems to be autistic.

A player is not a gamer if he only play hard when he wants to and when he is not pissed off. In that case, Manny is also a gamer. He plays hard when he wants to play hard.

I did not know that.

That kind of stuff gives me a warm, tingly feeling inside :D

Should be fun. I cant wait. Thank god I have a horrible ear infection this week and stay home to watch the whole thing tomorrow.

I hope to see either Frank Brooks or Danny Garcia get into the game tomorrow.

Former Yankee Paul Quantrill joins Kevin Brown & Tino Martinez as 2005 Yankees who have retired this offseason.

Rotoworld: Paul Quantrill announced yesterday that he will retire after the upcoming World Baseball Classic. "This is it," Quantrill said. "If I wanted to play (this year), I could have. I've played a long time and loved it. I understand that I will miss a lot of the things about baseball, but my kids are getting older and I have other things and challenges in my life." He finished with a 3.83 ERA out of the bullpen in 15 seasons.
