yea. I wouldnt mind having him, though I dont think he's as good as eevryone thinks. And plus the numbers just dont allow for it.

Johnson

Mussina

Wang

Chacon

Pavano

Wright

Sturtze

Proctor

Farnsworth

Myers

Rivera

Thats 11 right there and JOe like to carry 11. He had 12 last year and it killed the bench depth. If we do in fact move Sturtze for MIchaels then maybe we coulda dd him or Dotel.

This may be a dumb question..but whats going on with Chacons contract?

I thought we only had him for 1 year?, did we sign him to a long term deal?

From his deal with the Rockies he still has more time. I think this coming year is his last though.

From mlb4u.com

Shawn Chacon: signed deal for 2005 season worth 2.35M on 2/4/05- + he can earn 275K in performance bonuses: 50K each for 170, 180, 190 and 200 innings, and 25K each for 26, 29 and 33 starts- + after trade to NYY on 7/28/05, NYY pay only 847K of his 2005 salary Agent: Danny Horwits Service Time: 3.140

I know the site is self-proclaimed "Unofficial MLB"; however, I've yet to find a descrepancy on the players' contracts listed. Depending on whether or not that service time is before the season or after, then the Yankees have two or three more arbitration years before Chacon hits the open market.

yankees are probaly going to make an offer for damon...

The Yankees may be preparing a four-year offer to Johnny Damon, and there are also indications that the Orioles are about to get involved, according to Newsday's Jon Heyman.

Would signing Damon turn Miguel Tejada's frown upside down? The Orioles would likely have to go far beyond any offer from the Red Sox or Yankees to sign him, so it probably wouldn't be worth it. As for Boston's bid, Heyman says owner John Henry recently became involved in negotiations. Two AL execs said they still see Boston as the favorites in this chase.

Yea, I read this in the paper today and I wouldnt mind having Damon, but I dont want him for 4 years and the money he would cost. I still like the idea of a Crosby/Melky platoon. But having Damon for a few works too!

I odn thave the link, but in today's post it says the Yankees have made an offer to Nomar to play first base.

yup...read that earlier as well...I wouldnt mind having Nomar, just not as the 1Bman. Maybe as like a super-utility guy who would play everyday, just not at the same position. Like a Chone Figgins.

Maybe play 1B a day or so here and there and let Giambi DH, then maybe DH a few days here or there, could also spell one of the infielders a day here or there, same with the outfielders. He would play probably 5 or 6 games week if they did that, practically the same as being an everyday player.

I agree

Wow? Nomar? Wow!

I remember after we got A-Rod I was joking with my friend saying I bet one day weel get Tejada to play second and Nomar to play 1st, never though half of it would come true. Its funny, in the sence that we'd have 3 AllStar ShortStops playing the infield. But, if it happens, it will set the bar so high, that we will almost need to win 125 games just to beat the odds. I still wouldn;t mind it. But from what I hear on TV, Nomars no good at ShortStp anymore(well, hes good, just not as good). And right now hes playimng his best ball at 3rd base. When I think about it, were set if Jeters hand starts bothering him, and we wanna give him the day off, or just have him DH, we can send ARod to SS, and Nomar to 3rb. But, then in the case where you don't want to have A-Rod playing SS, and maybe misreading a few balls when he goes back to 3rd, we can just gamble and have Nomar play SS. What I don't think this will effect greatly is team home runs. It should effect it, but not by much. seeing that Tino had about 20 HomeRuns, and Nomar can get to about 30 if hes healthy, it shouldn't change the effect of runs, but I see an increase in clutness.

I guess well just have to stick it out, and then wait forthe results

According to the Post its only the Astros, Guardians and Yankees left in the bidding for Nomar. I figured he would sign with the Dodgers but with them out of it I like the Yankees chances esp after the Yankees played the Torre card.

speaking of the yankees...are they keeping the fearsome mark bellhorn???

No, he refused a minor league assignment and was made a free agent awhile ago.

One Yankee Fan's tribute to Roger Clemens...

(Sung to the tune of "I will survive.")

First I was afraid

I was petrified

Kept thinking we could never live

without The Rocket by our side

And I spent so many nights

thinking how he did us wrong

But we grew strong

And we learned how to carry on

and so he's back

Tempting The Boss

I just walked in and found out

about that sad look upon his face

I should have changed that stupid channel

The Yankees should have taken the Hummer back

If they would've known for just one second

you'd turn your back on them

Go on now go back to the Astros

just turn around now

'cause you're not welcome anymore

weren't you the one who said you were retired

you think we'd crumble

you think we'd lay down and die

Oh no, not us

We will survive

Oh...as long as we've got Arod

I know we'll will stay alive

Mo is sharpening up his cutter

And we've got Cap'n Jeter, too

and we'll survive

We WILL survive

Hey, Hey...!

Yankees picked up Ron Villion for a minor leaguer. I like the move. Hes very good against lefties. Damon gets Myers and Ortiz gets Villion.

I like the move, I liked Villone last year. Reading your post is the first im hearing of this, which is unusual, so im going to go check for a confirmed source. But anyways, like I said, I like the move.

Its Villone for Ben Julienel, a prospect we got from St. Louis in 2003 for Sterling Hitchcock. Julienel was a prospect I really liked a lot and kept track of (I guess I was drawn to him because of his name  ). At leats he'll get a chance in Florida.

Rotoworld tore into the Marlins:

Ben Julianel - R - Marlins

Marlins acquired LHP Ben Julianel from the Yankees for LHP Ron Villone.

Pathetic. Anyone who wanted Julianel could have taken him in last week's Rule 5 draft. The 26-year-old had a 3.90 ERA and a 106/50 K/BB ratio in 87 2/3 IP for Double-A Trenton last season. The Marlins are now in line to make a big profit next season, so they certainly could have held on to Villone and waited for his market value to go back up. Every other trade GM Larry Beinfest has made has been defensible, but this is just ridiculous. Even worse was that the Marlins didn't offer arbitation to Todd Jones because they didn't want the draft picks. Bud Selig should have stepped in by now. Dec. 16 - 5:10 pm et
