There are many others. That list is from the beginning of the season. I'm not sure who's options have been picked up, or who has already signed with their current team. If a player you think we should try to get isn't on the list on the link, then we are going to have to give up something to get him. If that is the case, please suggest a possible trade instead of just saying "we should pick up so-and-so".

I want to get durazo. He is awesome. I thought soriano was a FA. If he is not resign Graff. i want Mueller back but that probably won't happen.

as WEEI suggested Aubrey Huff is on the Sox's radar this offseason, since he is under contract for the D-Rays in 2006, a trade will have to occur

Boston: Aubrey Huff

Tampa Bay: Abe Alvarez and another undetermined prospect

That would be a good deal, i dont see abe alvarez as a part of the future for Boston

I agree that Alvarez is not integral to the Sox future, especially since we have DiNardo. Those two give us two soft-tossing lefties. Keep one, trade the other. I think Tampa will expect more than we are willing to part with in the deal though. Ever since the Kazmir trade, they have had a high asking price for everyone who comes calling. I think they expect to rip everybody off now.

yeah I'd do that in a heartbeat

You do realize that the undetermined prospect in that deal is not going to be some half-ass prospect. Think good prospect. Alvarez is not worth much.

Tampa needs to make room for Delmon Young, BJ Upton, and the return of Rocco Baldelli. Tampa is desperate for starting pitching. I think we could get Huff for Arroyo, and Huff would fit nicely in the #5 hole in the order.

Arroyo yes. But not Abe Alvarez and some nameless prospect.

I don't want to see Arroyo leave.

I think the Aubrey Huff for Abe Alvarez is a good deal, even though I really like Abe Alvarez, he probably doesn't have a future here, and it would be a good move for him, to go somewhere where he can possibly get into the majors.

bout soriano, maybe we could trade some young pitching to them?

You have a major hard-on for Soriano don't you?

The FO wouldn't do that, and I wouldn't want them to. He's got power but absolutely NO plate discipline. Our FO values OBP and working the pitch-count. Besides, our problem is pitching anyway.

Recent FA busts have shown that even proven pitchers are a considerable risk. Why not try and do it on the cheap with some homegrown arms? I think that is the FO's mantra at this point.

it is a good deal, i'll give you that, but there's no way IMO the devil rays would bite at that.

Well, I'm not so sure about the Devil Rays, so you could be right. Unless they're feeling really friendly, or they're in a dire need for prospects.

not to mention he plays below average defense at 2B

Good deal for you guys. They aren't going to bite at all. They want something, not Bruce Chen.

I'd do the Arroyo for Huff deal in a heartbeat. However, since I'm a Boston fan and I like it so much, I would expect that the other side may be a little skeptical. Decent hitting 1B/corner outfielders usually require more than back end of the rotation starters that can't get lefties out.

yes i like soriano, but only if manny gets traded, i like him because he can be a 40/40 guy, knock in at least 100 runs(done it twice 104 and 102) and has had one monster seasons in New York, which shows he can play in a high pressure environment....i like him alot and i'd much rather have him than huff...even if manny doesn't get traded i'd still like to see him with boston..think about it;

manny

soriano

all guys that can get .300/40/100+

He's a FA next year. Why trade away the future for what can be had for free (I know he will cost money, but he's free in terms of not giving up talent) next year?

EDIT: I honestly don't want to go after him next year either. I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised with Pedroia.

well if we're not all pleasantly suprised and soriano has another monster year i would love to see him in the boston lineup

I dont care how much they want starting pitching, NO WAY they trade Huff for Abe f***ing Alvarez. YS's proposal was more realistic, but that might not even be enough.

I dont see why you guys cant get him for Arroyo, Abe, and maybe a Single A prospect.

thats exactly what i've been saying to a friend of mine. The Rays have such a surplux of good young talent that they need to get rid of some. They way it looks now they will either have to trade Gathright or move Delmon to first (seeing as how it looks like Johnny Gomes has the DH spot loked up for a while). So moving Huff for some pitching makes plenty of sense. I still think the Rays, Sox, and Mets should try to work a 3-way, that way the Rays could profit even more with Yusmeiro Petit.

I think if you guys were to get Sori that you should bat him leadoff (only if Damon leaves of coarse). He thrived there with us and Ive never seen a leadoff hitter (except maybe Henderson) who can put the momentum in his teams favor so quickly. Remember 2002 when he just went on a tear of leadoff homers.
