That doesn't mean you can't have a discussion about it. And if a fan of a team can't recognize the talent of a player that doesn't wear their uniform of choice, he or she should seriously consider being a bit more open minding and giving credit where credit is due. Like I have said countless times, I love Ortiz and wish he was a FA at the end of the year so the Yanks could make a run at him, I just don't think a DH should win MVP.

I agree. An MVP is about the complete player. Can saves games defenively, win games offensively and steal some bases. Now A rod and Vlad are still in the running if you go by this, but the second part is, the team can't succeed without the player. Where would the angels be without vlad? Anderson is have a terrible season. What other slugger do they have? None.

That's actually a very valid point. While I would LOVE seeing Mariano win the Cy Young, I know the chances are extremely slim. It's the same thing here. You guys see Ortiz everyday and hope he wins, but I just don't think you can label him a shoe in, esp when he doesn't lead in every category and cannot be considered an all-around player, like Mariano can. He takes the ball, throws the ball, and takes a shower. Does every aspect of pitching he needs to. Ortiz, on the other hand, can only hit, while there are plenty of other guys who can hit just as well but have much more to offer in other areas.

we diidn't we're just saying hes a legit candidate, i just copied an article of redsox.com, he has a good shot as well as manny

With a head line of Shoo-In, under the circumstances, I'd say that's seriously over stated his case.

Ortiz won't win the MVP. If he does, then I blame ESoxPN for brainwashing everyone in the universe into Red Sox loving brainless twirps.

PLEASE! John Kruk, HAROLD REYNOLDS! (Who I swear sleeps with Yankee sheets at night) ESPN is infested with Yankee lovers.

It might as well be called NESN2. Wow, so you can name two people on the entire network that have anything good to say about the Yankees. Puh-leeze

Not to mention page 2 is dedicated to making the Yankees look like bad guys.

I am not even going to dicuss this any further.

Can you please explain to me how that slap was any different than someone trying to mow down a catcher to make him lose the ball so that he is safe? Please, because I would really like to know.

1 is legal, 1 is illegal, that is all there is to know. If you knock the ball from a catcher and the catcher drops it then you are safe, if A-Rod had tried to run over Arroyo instead of trying to slap the ball out of the glove and Arroyo had dropped it when A-Rod ran him over then he would have been safe.

he didn't run into bronson like players do to catchers, he SLAPPED him like the little girl he is.

The amazing thing is they won the game even with the Yankees BLATANTLY trying to cheat. In case you‘re a Yankee fan and you’re not quite sure of what I‘m talking about, in the eighth inning of game six the Yankees (being obviously frustrated with losing) started to almost get something going with an RBI base hit by Jeter, then A-rod grounded out and on his way to first he slapped the ball like a little girl out of Arroyo’s hand allowing Jeter to prance all the way home, on top of that A-rod never even touched first base once and started clapping his hands like a douche bag assuming he was safe.

so you thought he should have been safe?

You guys know that if Manny did that same thing you would all accept it and just say, "Well, thats just Manny being Manny!!!"

I just don't think it should be used against him like it is. I don't understand why you give him such grief. Sour because he isn't wearing a Boston uniform? Get over it. Seriously this guy is a treat to watch no matter what team he plays for.

no we know that, that is illegal.

But Manny doesn't break the game's rules. Sure he may not hustle out groundballs all the time, but he doesn't break any rules in the rulebook by doing so. You can't say Manny would do something like that because he has no prior history of cheating.

no we wouldn't of won last year if he was in Boston. We wouldn't have got schilling. We just don't like him beacause of that play and he plays for the YANKEES, very little class.

clever  taste of my own medicine, i see how it is ;)

stocker-yeah bc im sure that Arod has the rulebook memorized word for word. Honestly, if I was in his situation I'd have done the same thing. He at least showed heart, which is more than half the team can say.

I'm not talking about memorizing the rulebook, but that is a common rule that you should know, especially if you're playing the game. Don't give me this A-Rod didn't know crap. He even tried to simulate a running motion, falsely claiming that he was pumping his arms when he came into contact with Arroyo. He knew what he did and that it was wrong.

Whatever, it's not like all the Red Sox are perfect angels. I know that you all like to jump all over Arod, jealousy is a very powerful emotion, but he is only human.

jealously?

lets see: manny (world series MVP) and Jon Lester (outstanding left handed pitching prospect) for A-rod ( a cheater)

and we wouldn't get schills and maybe not foulke, yeah ill keep our manny

Actually we still would of gotten Schill and Foulke, because the whole A-Rod ordeal was in late December 2003/January 2004. We had already signed Schill and Foulke by then. And FYI I'm not jealous of A-Rod and all his rings.

Jealousy? You must be f***ing kidding. No one wanted him here in the first place.

How clever to bring up Kevin Millar with a bottle of Jack, just to offset the A-rod pics. You would of looked smart if Drinking was considered cheating in baseball. But that failed.
