Wow, the Yankees blew this one and Rivera too. His ERA has gone from 1.00 to 1.41 in about a week. I think Torre might be overworking him.

Might, doesn't begin to describe it.

Still plenty of time left. The loss hurts, but it isn't as crippling as it seems. Lots of Yankee fans going nuts on another message board.

Rivera needs rest, at least 3 days off. Gordon and Sturtze could use a few off too.

I know people are going to overreact to this loss, but it isn't the end of the world nor the end of realistic hope at the East.

I guess as each day goes by, there's one less day to close the gap, and gosh knows that Torre "wants to win everything", so somehow it wouldn't surprise me to see him ride that BP more and more. And every day I turn to look at the boxscore and see "BOS" atop the standings, it's one more day that I have to force down my cereal. <_>

[VENT]s*** happens. Hey Joe - Mariano needs some rest ya moron. He keeps overusing him like this and Mo will be done by mid season next year. He isn't getting any younger! I'd like to preserve that amazing arm of his, thank you very much. Are we starting to see the "Clueless Joe" everyone was talking about in 1995? I seriously hope not. Small needs to be the closer for a couple days. Deal with it Joe. Trust someone else. [/VENT]

oh thats right, 2nd blown save in last 3 appearances, tampa bay stands at 8-4 record.

Or you could look at it as 31/33

The "Rivera Sucks" thread is cursed. Shh. Don't reply to it! ;)

Does Stottlemyre have a say in any of this? Can't he tell that his pitchers are overworked? Torre screws up the line-up (*cough* CF), so yeah, maybe Stottlemyre could help him figure out the pitching...

Ha. That's quite laughable on second thought.

To those who are wondering, Tampa is 19-12 since the All Star Break. Not a terrible team by any stretch of the imagination.

 Trying to find the silver lining, huh? Well, I guess that's true, but they are also something like 20 games back, and it's unacceptable for the Yanks to have a 4-8 record against them. Esp. not when they only got beat by them once last year or something like that.

I'm stretching it, lol. My only point is that I've read a lot of stuff about Yankee fans who are going to throw themselves off the GW Bridge after losing today. It's not as death worthy as its being exaggerated to be.

Of course, not a good loss.

There's such a thing as a "good" loss, huh?

Well a loss when we've got Leiter starting against King Felix Hernandez, with half our starting lineup sitting out, I can take the loss. When we've got Unit starting against Doug Waechter and the D-Rays, it's a bad loss.

Yeah I know what you mean, and you are right. While it does suck to lose, the ones that are hard losses stick with you. RJ was fine I think, but the offense needed to step up and YET AGAIN it sucked against bad pitching. I find myself more confident against Santana than I do against Waetehslkdfj whatever.

Wasn't Hernandez the first to record double-digit Ks since Gooden?

It just shows up as a loss, so whatever, it's more disturbing if you can see future ramifications such as (beating this with a stick) tired BP, but then again it doesn't feel good to lose for no reason...

omg how good is that kid, hes like 19, and has nasty stuff.

who has better stuff hernandez or duke?

Who has better stuff? King Felix no doubt, but who has proven more as a pitcher so far? Definitly Duke.

Hernandez ahs been mroe odminant but in far less time, if I had to take one of them right now i owuld go with Duke because he has proven he can be a great pitcher throught a season.

Wow, walking in the game winning run? BWAHAHAHAHA! Well, actually... no, I won't say anything unless they take the series from you tomorrow.

*smack*

Sorry I couldn't resist. ;)

Yankees manager Joe Torre said Kevin Brown's back is improving and he might back with the club in September. ''There's a chance if he continues to improve that he'll be able to pitch for us in September,'' Torre said. ''Whether that's out of the bullpen or other than that, we'll wait and see.''

;) maybe he could pitch during the Sox series
