You're kidding me. No. I'd rather him play CENTER; if that position is going to be atrocious, I'd much rather get some humor out of it.

Why can't they ever make an accurate diagnosis? Get us all hyped over Pavano, and now he looks like he's not coming back. Actually the thought of Brown on the mound scares me. As it should.

well like Sox's Wade Miller, him and Pavano should just take the rest of the season off as it is, both contributing little before being put on the DL. I do believe Sox have found their prospect Papelbon to be an upgrade over what Miller has been, Jon Papelbon is set for game 4 against the Angels and could pitch game 2 against the Tigers at Fenway. As Yankees found Aaron Small and Shawn Chacon, Pavano this season is a #5 starter compared to them

Yeah but we basically paid him ten mil for nothing this year. Jeez. Most people would get fired for that kinda (non-existent) production.

Weighing options here...Proctor (0-4), or Small (4-0). Real tough one. Ya can't fault Torre here. He brought us four rings!

/sarcasm. Hey isn't Leiter pitchinig tonight? Please locate the strikezone, pretty please. Would it be so much to ask for some innings, but yeah...I think it is.

Small's just sitting there...with a 2.57 ERA...not used in the BP, not starting. WHY?!

if he were to come back earlier than he should, could mess up his shoulder even more than it is now--Wade Miller had pitched against Texas and said he went out to the mound with his arm being stiff and little bit in pain, a big oops on his part, next day put on the DL

I know. :) Definitely want him healthy for next year, if we can salvage anything. Same deal with Wang-er. Most players wouldn't be on the DL if they weren't hurt, given the lack of depth.

Ha, what's the reaction at the YES boards? Any, "FIRE TORRE" threads lighting up?

[VENT]s*** happens. Hey Joe - Mariano needs some rest ya moron. He keeps overusing him like this and Mo will be done by mid season next year. He isn't getting any younger! I'd like to preserve that amazing arm of his, thank you very much. Are we starting to see the "Clueless Joe" everyone was talking about in 1995? I seriously hope not. Small needs to be the closer for a couple days. Deal with it Joe. Trust someone else. [/VENT]

I believe that earlier in the year Torre was only using Rivera in save situations in the 9th, not letting him pitch the 8th and 9th. At his age that seemed wise. Now he suddenly goes back to letting Mo pitch two innings and even in non save situations with the game tied? I'm wondering if maybe Steinbrenner has something to do with this. Maybe after another reliever was lit up George made a phone call to Joe and "suggested" that Rivera be used more down the stretch with the playoffs at stake.

No. Steinbrenner hasn't been too happy with Torre's decisions. He wouldn't, I don't think at least, call him to make moves, and then blame Torre for them not panning out. Sometimes Steinbrenner gets a little carried away in the FO. But I doubt it carries over to the actual game management. Not to mention, wouldn't he want to protect Rivera, arguably the best asset on the Yankees?

Ha. Now Mo's getting "lit up"; within two weeks his ERA has gone up by almost an entire run.

Rivera's being used (overused) because the Yankees can't afford to give away any games, and the bridge has been shaky of late. They need to go a good 3-4 days with Rivera just not pitching if they expect him to get to the point where he should be.

Also, we can't afford to have Rivera pitch in games we don't win. If we use Mariano, we need to pick up the W.

Ok, then going to the bridge, why was it always TanGor, TanGor? Torre seems like he can't win if the "TanGorMo Manual" fails. So the close ones that the Yankees win, it's almost like we win in spite of, not because, of Torre's management, or lack thereof.
