What does this have to do with Jon?

I'm still really high on Rents. I wan't him around for the future unless Theo can make a major upgrade which I don't really see happening. He has been making more errors than usual, but you have to understand the guy has great range. He gets to a lot of balls that most SS don't. Ranging as far as he does he knows he has to hurry which causes errors. I don't know why people are still so down on him.

Umm, look at my sig and past posts.

I hope we can move Renteria in the off-season and sign a cheaper and better alternative. Hanley is the real deal, I hope he's called up for next season.

He has been making more errors than usual,

He has been making more errors than any other player in MLB

-Fixed that for you

His range has nothing to do with his errors- he's messing up routine plays and room service hops- stuff that's automatic for a good SS.

Oh no, here it comes again.... LOL!

/me dons flame-resistant suit!

I say trade him. His gold glove has been more like platinum this season, and although his hitting is getting better I still don't see him as a threat. Ramirez deserves his shot and would be a much cheaper alternative. Also, if last year's playoffs were any indication, Renteria is not that clutch.

Both. In this case there is no difference. My 11 years of life experience have taught me that being a fan means seeing the good and the bad in a team but still liking the team. I won't root for Renteria because he is a bad, lazy player who won't lay out for balls and messes up routine plays. The Sox can do better for $8mill, son.

I understand if you don't think he is a good player, but I don't see how you can not cheer for him if he makes a good play. Sure I think Millar is one of the worst players I've ever seen, but I'll still be happy for him if he hits a home run, or makes a good defensive play.

So what's Hanley hitting in AA? I'll give you a hint, it's worse than the much-maligned Renteria.

It seems the ones that are the most gung-ho about calling up prospects to replace reasonably productive major leaguers are the ones that tend to know the least about them. Hanley isn't going to be ready to start next season. We're lucky if he's ready to be a productive regular for 2007.

I partially agree with you guybo. A lot of these errors are just bad mistakes, and in no way is he performing like an 8 million dollar player. But I still think he is of great value to this team. Hustles and plays hard.

Alright we'll see if Renteria can make the naysayers forget his 2 errors tonight.

But the bullpen will remember them!

You're a troll, plain and simple. Please go play hide and go f*** yourself.

And I'm being eloquently succinct, here.

I agree with soxie..

I also think guybo might be ted bundy's younger brother--coincidentally named guy... Guy Bundy,..., and if I were edgar I might tighten my security.

The rage and fury after those two errors were probably enought to make guybo snap--and miss the game winning walk off hit. He was probably updating his hate site, or cutting out words from a magazine...if you know what I mean.

Edgar's here for the duration of his 4 year contract. For the reasons below:

1. The organization is high on him.

2. Hanley Ramirez is NOT ready.

3. He's a very solid offensive player.

4. He makes some very difficult plays look easy.

5. He's the Red Sox best option at shortstop. You say they could do better, who? Orlando Cabrera? Sorry, Orlando was one of my favorite players last year, but he's struggled even more than Edgar has this season.

6. Even if Hanley were ready (which he's not), Edgar has said he'd change positions (third base, anyone)

7. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that Hanley was tearing up the league, and the team was prepared to trade Edgar to make room. What would they get for him? He's overpriced at $10 million a year, and his value on the trade market would not be very high. So frankly, it makes more sense to the team to either switch Hanley's primary position (which they may be in the process of doing as he is playing a bunch of different positions in AA), or switch Edgar's position when Hanley is ready.

Edgar is worth more to the Red Sox playing here than he ever could be as trade bait for the Red Sox. He's a keeper for the duration of his contract.

I think Edgar should do a better job of working the counts in his favor. He sees more pitches because of Ortiz and Manny so if he can get to more 3-2 counts he could do a lot more damage. I see him swing at too many bad pitches. He does make some real nice plays but this year he has made a lot of easy plays look real difficult. Luckily thats a trend I wouldnt expect to continue for 4 years. You are correct in that Hanley is not close to ready. He is struggling a lot at AA Portland and I dont see him coming up and taking a proven gold glove, world series champion, all stars spot on the field. He needs to learn 2nd base.

he has improved on walks, in 2004 with the Cardinals he walked just 39 times. He's already gone past that mark at 41

True I just see him chasing bad pitches which means I think he could actually walk more or work the counts better in his favor. Not saying he isn't doing good already I just think it could be a little better

beisdes kevin millar and edgar having seasons belows expectations, one member of the Sox who has really been having a down year is Doug Mirabelli. I really like the hell out of the guy and is the reason behind wakefield's success. Yes I know he does have limited at bats, But he just has a .211 batting average with a .286 OBP. In 2004 pre-All Star break he had belted 7 homeruns with his batting average over 300 and OBP at .369, after the break had 2 more homeruns and kept the averages at respectable numbers. I mean since this season's all star break hes batting just .194, 6 hits in 31 at bats, with just one of them being a double and has been K'ing a lot recently. one stretch had him striking out 7 times in a row

man, you're dying to get a mirabelli thing going.in spite of the fact youlike him....start a thread.

personally, as I have said I love dougie and wont bash him no matter what stats you wheel out.

I still think that in terms of comparison to millar I'd rather see dougie lumber up in a clutch at bat than fat ass.
