Cass I have the Yankeeography of Torre, the man is the best. I can't say a bad thing about Jeety I love him ( in my mind one of the best and a sure hall of famer) PO-PO ( lmao) is great he is good behind the plate and his hitting will improve. Dear old Bernie is getting old, but comes up with some big hits, and I love him too he will be DH or something. I love RO-RO mute button or not, he is another hall of famer. So the fans who talk s***, is because they are panicky and that's all, but I have to agree with Tex and Crespo the YES boards suck. Why do you think I am here, not only to bother Tex lol.

Don't worry, JeterWifey... I've just been messing with you. I know why you post here and at times it's pretty nice having you here instead of over there, because we know you are really a fan of the game.

'Night everyone.

New York fans are supposedly the best in the world...they just have strange ways of showing their affection at times. I'm skeptical at their performance at times - but does being delusional about mediocrity do any good? Not that I agree or condone, but the pressure and heat in NY is what it is - thrive or die.

I know you guys love picking on the YES Board, but I don't know that you've ever checked out the NYYFans.com Board. They're fickle at times - ok A LOT of times, but they're "Yankee fans" through and through - and if this team's gonna suck...humor me. If you love to see Yankee fans eat crow, definitely check out some of the apology threads, the thank-you so-and-so for this performance...there's a "I'm Sorry Jason" thread over there - well, less than a quarter are sorry, the majority are sorry that he didn't do this earlier...and the rest...*cough* sorrythathedidsteroids

1. Funny that you should mention relievers; many "Yankee fans" have complained Torre overuses his bullpen, especially in situations that aren't necessary, such a blow-outs. Why does it seem that whenever we hand the lead to Flash, he just blows it?! (I was being sarcastic <_ gordon arm is going to fall off. deja vu vu. i know this comes as a result of starters not doing deep>

There's already a 13-page firestorm on this...

2. Irony. KB is not worth waxing on.

3. Jeter: 2004, 0-32 slump - got ugly. Williams - apparently "True Yankees" due not age. Posada - ditto and BLOCK THE PLATE! And speed up the bat while you're at it...yes, no one is immune.

I think Steinbrenner has been trying to lay-low, if that makes any sense. What did he say, silence is brilliance?

Please bear with us while we adjust to being sub-par; these few years have been a new experience. (So we've been spoiled, there, you have it.) :D

EDIT: In the words of Bernard Russell, "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Geez, I think I just rained on their parade when they said that Moose is startig tomorrow:

Topic: Good News, I swear this is not Geico Related

Post: Mussina is pitching tomarrow and hopefully will show these guys what a starting pitcher looks like, he can hold leads atleast

Me: You left out the fact of who he's facing. On the hill for the Halo's will be Jarrod Washburn who despite only being 6-5, has an ERA .68 less than Moose (3.27) and has given up an average of 1.7 runs per outing since the beginning of June. Last time out against New York, Washburn went 7 IP giving up only 1 ER. Hate to ruin the parade.

Great post, that's all I can say.

I can see it for next spring. Brown, Leiter, Wright wont even be a memory. Steinbrenner will probably shell out another $200-250 million roster, by signing new starting pitchers and extending contracts.

If Steinbrenner applied his business sense ( and let the professionals he hired do their job ), he wouldn't have the problems he has. But he can't help himself, being the ego maniac he is. Hence, the road to self destruction. He's not a baseball man and doesn't have the consumate tools to evaluate and improvemt the team by himself. Its like a poor poker player with a bad hand throwing more money at the pot, it doesn't work.

Amen to that ! But in a way it's like the line from Brian's Song ( the original ) that says " I want to beat you at your best, otherwise it doesn't mean anything, becaue people will just say I got in on a pass ".

Really? I don't think nyyfans is much better. When you have the host of a sportsradio shows, (Jon Dennis, Gerry Callahan, Dale Arnold, and Dale Holley) ripping the people who post there for sounding like maniacs, I don't think the intellegence of the board is all that great.

Gordon blows leads?! He has 17 holds, which is 3rd in the league. (I know your being saracastic, but don't Yankee fans, who are the best in world know that?)

2. Irony. KB is not worth waxing on.

Check out the Yesnetwork on last night's game thread, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Apparently, it's that what have you done for me lately mentality. Although, I don't agree with it, I understand where you're coming from.

Thanks for your input, I still want to see what YankeesRule has to say about this, but it's a 3 game losing streak and he's gone.

Look on the bright side, if their time on the schnide continues, you may not hear from him until the postseason when he will be predicting how badly the Sox will get beat.

Well, I don't think the YES Network boards are a fair example. They are the worst sports boards on the internet. At one point all of the YES posters with a sliver of intelligence moved to a private board where real conversations are had. There you have people who defend Bernie Williams with every word they type and people who defend Torre and who use actual logic. Its a different scenario, ask stocker. He has been known to post there on occasion.

I do post at the new boards and I'm glad that someone can realize not to judge Yankees fans by the ones from YES. Most of them are terrible baseball fans in general and are frontrunners.

I got some questions for some Yankee fans on this site, now this only is for the people who post on the YES network, or have critized the Yankees badly this year. (Red Sox fans may comment on this as well)

1. How could you ever question, or insult Joe Torre? I've seen at least 10,000 different threads on how bad Joe Torre is as a manager, ranging from, "Why no Tanyon" (when he had thrown 45 pitches the previous night, to "How could Torre use Groom against two righties" (When they were switch hitters, who can't hit lefties) The fact of matter is, Joe Torre won you guys 3 championships in a row, he is probably one of the greatest managers of all time. How could you ever critize that kind of greatness?

2. After Alex Rodriguez hit an RBI single tonight, and he was picked off, Yankee fans proceeded to call A-Rod a fag, a bitch, and OMG A-Fraud u blo!. My question is why? The mother f***er got you a run, and not to mention the fact he's hitting .319 with 27 bombs. If you critize Bubba Crosby, or Kevin Brown that's understandable, but why someone who's producing?

3. Lastly, how could any Yankee fan critize, Derek Jeter (some have), Bernie Williams (a lot have), or Jorge Posada (every single one of you have)?

These guys aren't your problems, your team just isn't that good. They have ZERO starting pitching, and outside of Rivera and Gordon, they have no bullpen. Maybe you should start asking questions to the man who was really behind all of this, but the man you seem to want to have multiple orgies with. Start blaming Steinbrenner.

I think it's kinda pathetic, when a guys like Torre are blamed for things when it isn't his fault, it just proves how pathetic most Yankee fans are.

I'm not somebody who really gets on the Jeters and Torres, but for argument's sake..

It seems like you are taking the attitude that, we used to win so we have no right to criticize what is going on now. The fact that Bernie won a batting title does not help this team now. That complacent attitude is why teams win once. The constant drive for success is how you build a dynasty.

I think Boston fans, due to their years of suffering, are unfamiliar with the mindset of a fan who's team has a tradition of winning. Keeping that in mind, I also think that players and coaches that were the core of a team that has already been a dynasty deserve a bit of a free-pass from scrutiny spurred by recent struggles.

While the writing was on the wall the past two years concerning Bernie, this has been the first year he has really struggled. Best case scenario for Bernie and Yankee fans alike is if he decides to either hang it up after this year or take a pay cut and diminished role. Go out with class instead of hanging on to former glory.

I could understand if you had a replacement, like the Red Sox had for Mark Bellhorn. But who do you have to replace Bernie Williams? How can you rip into that old guard? It's like ripping Brett Favre if he were suddenly to lose his skills. You won 4 championships with those players, that's pretty damn good. The Yankees "dynasty" is over, just live with the struggles of Williams, Posada, and the other players. Enough of thi s stupid ass s*** like "WHY NO MO IN DA 3rd inning, OMG TORRE"

Like I said, the YES Boards insult anyone's intelligence. Don't use them as a bar for comparison.

I've said that not all Yankee fans are like that, but I hear on WFAN the callers that want Posada benched, Torre fired, etc. etc. I know that you and ARod212, and some others are true Yankee fans, but the majority of the Yankee fans that enforce the Steinbrenner doctrine (1 loss is the start of a losing streak, 2 losses is a travesty, and so on) why would they want Torre to be fired? Nobody has answered that question yet.

Posted
I don't understand why anyone would want Torre fired, but if you watched Posada everyday you would understand why they want him benched. When he catches we get worse pitching perormances, he doesn't hit anymore, and he is most fundamentally unsound catcher in the bigs. He doesn't block the plate, he is mediocre at blocking balls in the dirt, and he doesn't even throw out runners anymore. Meanwhile John Flaherty (who is a back-up by trade) gets clutch hits when he plays, blocks the plate, calls a incredibly better game, and does all the defensive things a catcher should do.

Flaherty really doesn't have much clutch hits, 2-20 with 4 RBI's, but his defense probably would be a greater benifet.

Gave me an idea for a thread (check in a few minutes)

wow dude lmao, flaherty has better clutch hits than jorge ?? haha, jorge is right now batting .257 with 13 Homeruns and 45 RBIs. Lets see and John Flaherty this season would be at a .162 average and 5 RBIs, damn yea Flaherty is Mr. Clutch this year

CrespoBlows: For those arses that booed Rivera when he blew those first two saves against the BoSox, yes some "Yankee fans" stated that no one's immune to criticism, but many, many other said even he didn't notch another save in his career, they would never shun him. I want to make it clear that I'm not going to *boo* Bernie - sorry, sometimes frustration sets in, watching those balls drop in dead center. It's not lost in Yankee fans...or at least, me, what he's done for this organization, but he was not what he once was. But as much I as I value loyalty, sincerely I do, baseball is also business, and sometimes moving toward the future means letting go of the past. It would be sad to see Bernie don an uniform other than pinstripes, or Torre go one way or another (him and McCarthy - best Yankees managers), but eventually it will happen. There's talks of Joe Girardi being a possible replacement...somewhere down the line if he doesn't leave NY before that.

Steinbrenner once acknowledged that it was a mistake to have let Reggie Jackson go. *gasp* WHAT? Regret a move? Why, I never...!

KB'S IN THE TOP FIVE?! :o Should surpise me...but it doesn't.

Tek: On the psychological mindstate of the Yankee fans - to paraphrase Steinbrenner, losing is something Yankees don't intend on practicing anytime soon.

I think people forget before that championship run at the end of the 90's - the Yankees weren't that good; the 80's were mediocre, and the early 90's - didn't make the playoffs. Now the bar is set ASTRONOMICALLY high - but I suppose that this team's reach will always exceed their grasp.
