only thing I do agree with Soxie is Wade Miller, each time 5th or 6th inning he will be up to the 100 pitch count. Everyone keeps tellin me he will get better, when exactly will that be???

Well theres a chance with the injury that he had that it may take him a full seasonof throwing to recover. This season may be nothing more than rehab starts for him. Considering his arm isn't 100% he's really not having that bad of a year.

Also, let's be fair to Wade Miller. Last night he only gave up 3 runs. If you do that, you give your team a chance to win. If Miller gave up 3 runs through 6 innings every time, he'd win more games than he lost with this offense.

He's been inconsistent this year that's for sure, but the one thing about Wade Miller is that he battles. He was in a jam early and got out of it unscathed. He was in another jam in the second and gave up just the 1 run.

The blame for last night's game comes down to the offense, not Wade Miller.

His command is still not there but you are right be battles.....but man you really get a glimpse of some of those pitches....the curve is awesome (when it doesnt hit way in front)...he ALMOST got out of the 1st this time quickly

myself and elsrbueno picked him to have a great 2nd half....im sticking with that

But the available pool of players seems much less talented than last year, so no single team stands to gain a TON of talent.

Which leads one to conclude that the Sox will not get a TON of help b4 the deadline. If true (and I agree with you) this takes Theo out of the picture. We'll have to play the hand we have. Unless someone steps up from Pawtucket to help out. There already has been a lot said about bringing people up. So I'll not add to it other than to say that I'm all for it.

Bellhorn, Ortiz, Mueller etc. took someone elses spot because they produced when others didn't (be it injury, slump whatever.) The team needs to win, and I don't care who is in the line up to acomplish that.

This is true. But in reality, all we can do is speculate. Theo's the one doing the talking, know's the plan, and more importly has the trigger.

Theo also has a long term agenda that we can only speculate about as well. It's possible that nothing will be done this year, as the long term cost will be too high.

No doubt we can win with this team. We only really loose when the entire pitching staff (mostly bullpen) stinks at the same time or the the entire line up slumps (3 hits vs TB is criminal!) When we win, there are always some players that carry those who are having a tough spell.

The sox won't, but neither will the yankees. And as of right now, I think we have a better team.

i would definately not say im comfortable with what we have right now but looking at baltimore and the skankees i would take my chances on boston than either of the other two. they will start hitting again. its funny all this talk about the pitching with ny and boston but the past 3 weeks has been all about the hitting. the yankees have hit like 30 home runs their last 14 games. we probably have 6 or 7 over that span.

yeah me to. schilling hasn't been himself scince he came back and oue bullpen is falling apart

yes he did give up a 2-run homerun first relief apprearance, but he has since settled down very much so. through 3 relief appearnces. 3.0 innings pitched---3 hits, 2 earned runs, 4 strikeouts, no walks

yea, i give a five year grace period but that doesnt mean they can sit back and suck ass. their payroll is still 120 mill and they should win the division with a grace period or not. but if they do fall off then so be it. greatest comeback in sports history!

Why isn't this team getting a grace period, or is it just me who gives it?

Its just you....I refuse to give in and be happy with one championship....is that all you wanted???

....until you do it 3 out of 4 times I'm not that excited (yes im referring to the Patriots)

I agree with you, dispite the results of the past series in Fenway. But just making the playoffs isn't enough, I'm greedy. The Pats raised the bar. ;)

It's the ChiSox that really worry me. I guess we'll know a bit more of what we'll need to get past them (if needed) after the next weekend.

I agree with the team effort / unselfish attitude, however there's alot more room in footbal for role players.

I think you missunderstand what a grace period is.

If the Red Sox were to go 0-162, you could be agitated, but you couldn't complain.

I realized that no team can win 10 consecutive championships (unless your the Celtics) and if they win one, which is tough to do anyway, they deserve a grace period of two years or maybe one, depending on how demanding you are.

Example: I am a huge Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, though I can complain about how dumb Jon Gruden is, I wasn't bothered that we didn't win the Super Bowl these last two years. Now since that time is up, I expect this team to compete this year. BTW, Patriots fans should give their team a 6 year grace period, because of how dominant they have been, but they'll always compete as long as Brady, Bellicheck, and Pioli are at the head of the team.

Most of the Red Sox fans who demand the team to win every year, basically sound like Yankee fans, and while I respect some Yankee fans (AROD2112 for one) I refuse to be catergorized into that sect of people.

I'd rather sound like a patient person, then a OMG! TORRE U BLO, FRANCONO U BLO 2.

That's great. Theo sucks about trades. He needs to make a huge one. Miller, Bronson are unreliable and inconsistent.

Miller-Nah, I like his presence in the club.....Bronson can take a walk

For now, I'm satisfied with one championship.

The Pats should get a 6 year grace period but I watched the absoloutly suck for too many years to give them that. I see this dynasty as making up for all the sucking they did pre Kraft / Parcells. A fourth ring this year would change that though.

I'm going off topic, but the Chiefs will win the Super Bowl this year. You heard it here first.

I dunno...if the Chiefs let there offense play defense too they might have a shot....that offensive line is getting older along with Trent Green....and after an injured year for Priest Holmes....im not buying it

The Baltimore Ravens may have to be my pick although I have a hard time going against the Pats cause they always win despite what people say

Meh, I'm not so high on the Pats either. It's all about the "Trust in Belichick" I guess. With Ted coming off the stroke it's gunna be hard. But hey, we've added a bunch of weapons on the defensive side, we've proved we can win without Law, and our offense is good. I miss Andruzzi :( Oh well, he was my fav. Patriot cause he plays my position :D I can't pick against the Pats, part bias, and part just, they're the Pats. They win when you don't expect them too, and when you do.
