I think Boston fans are riding Keith Foulke way to hard. I mean the guy was a huge part of winning the world series and has been a lights out closer. This year he has struggled but why would we trade him and stuff. His mechanics are off and as we found out, was pitching hurt. I'd be willing to bet that foulke returns to form after the DL stitnt.

I agree with that (being too rough) and in 4-6 weeks, we should find out if we were right or wrong. It's the same surgery Mueller had. If it's more than that, we are f*ked. But I think he'll be back.

Riding Foulke? The Red Sox tried to ride him but they crashed at the bottom a steep hill with no brakes.

This is now. What he did last year does not count now. What he does now counts now. He needs to get his act together.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... him having contributed to winning us a World Series last year does nothing towards winning us balls game this year. Teams won't roll over and die because of how good he pitched in the playoffs. I'm not content with thinking that it's alright not to win again this year because we won it last year. Though he has been pitching hurt, so I take back some of the things I've said about him. :D

I've said before, the same as See Red and yankthis, but I also think that his trip to the DL was a cover up for him taking some time off. I mean seriously, if he is hurt, fine, fix it. But this struggling of his can not go on much longer. We need him to be effective.

Yeah, thanks Foulke for last year yada yada yada we've said it billions of times. Now pitch for this year and let's do it again. A CLOSER with a 6.23 ERA and being predictable and not being reliable is a problem.

very true schil, plus if he knew about his knees were in pain each time goin up to the mound, and was messing him up that bad, is he that obnoxious of a guy to tell everybody nothings wrong and he is fine. I mean cmon, how come then for for non-save situations his ERA is 1.5, and for save situations it is like around 12 ??!! kinda makes you think, huh

Yeah, we are riding Foulke a little bit too hard, but thats not to say he doesnt deserve it. With his salary and the way he has performed, he deserves it. Not that I condone this booing of him, nor do I think it will help, but I still think that he deserves it from his lack of good closing ability and his attidude with the media.

I'll enjoy his performance in the playoffs on DVD....but tomorrow is a new story that has not been written and I don't want it to end in tragedy. This season is too important because only one team is making the playoffs from the AL East and I want it to be the defending champs.

Do you think he will stay? I know he has problems in his private life but hopefully he can work those problems out. Hopefully his knee will get better and he will be a better player.

I don't think anyone doubts Foulke's heart, but if he knew they were physical problems he could have had this fixed weeks ago and we'd be writing about his return now. Instead, a deal may have to be made to find a pitcher. We all won't forget last year, but this is Boston. Every player who comes here knows the rewards are great, but the fall can be crushing. This is a new race and they can't give games away, especially in the 9th inning. I hope he's better and I'll cheer him when he comes back, but he also has to get hitters out.

Remember the opening series when Rivera's ability was in question, and the homerun Foulke gave up to Jeter was an abberition.

Goes to show, making judgements too early can result in egg on your face. Leading me to my next point, if you guys quit on Foulke now, you would be silly. The guy has shown he's got the goods, and he's been hurt. Yes, he should have indicated it earlier, but when he's back he'll be the closer you guys want and need.

well i dont think they are riding foulke to hard he just is not getting the job done so i think he should either start doing better or get replaced by schilling he has blown to many saves

You are so right! Keith is awsome when he's not hurt. When he comes back I bet you he'll be just as good as he was last year.

Anyone know how you put the picture on the side, I still can't figure it out. :dunno:

No doubt when he comes back he will be just as good, but I think he deserves what he got. Look, he's pitching off of a WS year. Does he think that he's gunna get it easy when he gets back? Probably! Just because of last years WS championship, it doesn't excuse him from doing well and trying to do it again. Yeah, thanks Foulke blah blah we've said thanks countless amounts of times, NOW DO YOUR JOB THIS YEAR!! It's the same with Blowhorn, even though he was still bad last year as well...
