Anone in Red Sox nation knows that you have to vote against the Yanks, even if the Yankees player is better, duh!

Obviously, you haven't bothered to read my sig.

It doesn't matter the games you have seen, what matters are the overall stats. And Matsui has helped his team in far more catergories than Podsednik has helped the White Sox. I don't care about the intangibles, the lineups, whatever. Matsui has gotten the job done at a far better rate than Podsednik, thats all that should be taken into account.

How this for overall stats. podsednik is a lead off hitter. he leads his team (starters) in average, runs scored, and stolen bases. that is what a lead off hitter should do. and when you throw in that he is doing it for the team with the BEST RECORD in the ENTIRE league i think that is a good enough resume to named to the all-star team over another bitch yankee.

Yeah, like AgentAnni said, this year Podsednik has been more impressive than Jeter. Not that I would have cared if Jeter made it, but I think that Podsednik deserves it more.

hahahaha...

Ok, well if you want to talk leadoff hitters instead of outfielders-

Jeter

-.310/.395/.485 (.853 OPS)

-11 HRs, 37 RBIs, and 68 Runs scored

-103 hits, 12 2B, 2 3B, 40 BB, 10 SB

Derek Jeter is a leadoff hitter. He leads Major League Baseball in runs scored, and ranks 6th in OBP, easily the most important stat for leadoff hitters. It is not Jeter's fault the team doesn't have 55 wins or whatever the White Sox are at. He has helped his team win far more than Podsednik has helped the White Sox win. Their record is more of a tribute to the pitching than Scott Podsednik being a 'spark plug' or whatever the term of the day is for below average hitter with speed.

To summarize, Jeter is currently at 11 Win Shares, Podsednik at 9. This takes into account the 'better record' and all that garbage. Jeter is still a better and more valuable player to his team, hence a more deserving All Star. Have a nice day.

all i was saying was that from an all star point of view i would rather see a player who is a big part of the success of the best team in baseball rather than the second best shortstop on the yankees. i stated the stats just to justify podsedniks spot on the team and not to say he is better than anyone else. and by the way...my OBP would be over .400 if i had sheffield rodriguez matsui and giambi hitting behind me.

I voted for the best players... that's what the All-Star game is about. I took the time to think over both the AL and NL and in the case of the NL, there were one or two positions that I wasn't sure of so I took a look at a variety of stats and decided on the best player. That's how it's supposed to be done.

Its Matsui that should be in the All - Star game, not Podsednik or Jeter. The guy has 70 rbi's just a little past the mid way point. I believe he is 4th in rbi's only behind David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, and A-Rod. He is also hitting .320 which is extremely good considering a month and a half ago he was hitting about .240.

HMMMMM...So let me get this straight...if stolen bases and intangibles don't matter, then I guess Dave Roberts didn't mean anything to our team last year..........

Not nearly as much as Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Curt Schilling and Pedro Martinez did. You know, the guys who put up the big numbers in the important catergories. Intangibles and steals are nice, but Slugging Percentage, OBP and RBIs are much better.
