    yeah and the lefty kris johnson just came off tommy john surgery last year. he must have amazing stuff to be drafted 40th overall after blowing his arm out!

    we need to give him a legit shot at the rotation not just one or 2 relief outing...he does us no good being the AAA pitcher of the year...i think he will never have trade value...if he is good enough to be our #5 started then great lets keep him...but if he isnt good enough then we will have to dump him for NOTHING because nobody is going to want a blind soft throwing pitcher that cant make it in the bigs!!!

    i think they called alvarez up because of the looming suspension to wells. just in case alvarez needs to make an emergency start for wells.

    alvarez started shakey but got some help and the win yesterday. 11-4 now with 100k's. not too bad for the "soft thrower". here is a little stat i like to look at for starting pitchers...wins to games started. alvarez has 22 starts and 11 wins. usually if a starting pitcher can win half his starts he is doing well.

    why are all of us red sox fans getting mad at sheffield? i love this guy! anything that is going to cause some kind of disfunction in the yankee clubhouse should be applauded. sheffield just became my favorite yankee for the time being. f*** all those yankee bitches!!!!

    wasnt kent tekulve a schzio on crack?...i agree, i dont trust any of the young call ups to handle pressure situations. it would be nice to see them play through the season and not just be thrown into a role.

    petagine is having a great season in AAA. second in HR's(19) AVG. (.324) and is first in RBI's (66)...it would be nice to get something out of him SOON because he is 34 years old and the clock is ticking.

    his 10th win of the season which is tied for most in the whole farm system. abe is not a strike out pitcher yet he is 2nd in k's behind lester who is in AA and his WHIP is freakin great at 1.1...i know a lot of people like the power pitcher but this kid keeps on winning and getting people out.

    i feel more comfortable with olerud at 1st and not millar. olerud has a LITTLE more power and consistancy. plus he doesnt strike out that often. i noticed someone mentioning why he wears his helmet on this thread...for those that dont know, olerud suffered a brain aneurysm in college and began wearing the helmet in the field for added saftey. i heard that the aneurysm was a big reason why he stopped pitching. the danger of getting hit in the head is greater on the mound than it is at 1st(ask clement). he was a stud pitcher at washington state with a 15-0 record his senior year.

    you say lets talk about this year and then you ask about last year? anyways...second place last year was good enough for the playoffs so it WAS good enough. oh yeah by the way, that second place finish last year got us a championship. your teams second place finish this year is not going to be good enough for the playoffs so have fun watching the sox on tv in october.

    yes we would be all over you just as if a sox fan started a yankees suck thread on a yankee message board im sure yankee fans would be all over him but the difference here is this is a yankee sucks thread on a red sox board so it is allowed and accepted.

    i know there is another thread for this but i still believe the yankees are NOT going to make the playoffs. and the biggest reason will be their pitching. mussina and johnson will carry their weight for you guys but after that you need your other 3 starters to be a little better than .500 for the rest of the season if you want to win a playoff spot. and i would hate it if i had to ask kevin brown, al leiter, and aaron small to win more games than they lose because they wont. p.s. hideo nomo is not the answer either.

    im so glad to hear matty is ok. i dont want to sound like a doctor or anything but the bone behind the ear is the most dense (hardest) bone in the body. low caliber bullets have been known to bounce off this area. good thing too because that baseball was a freakin bullet.
