7:10 tonight, so an hour earlier. 90 degrees in St. Louis, but there is a good possibility of "Strong Storms".

Leaving aside one tough inning, Wells pitched well in his last start, allowing nine hits and four runs in a no-decision against the Angels. As usual, his control has been impeccable. He's walked just four batters all season. Wells has pitched twice at Busch Stadium in his career, going 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA.

Carpenter is working on a stretch of five straight quality starts, during which he's 4-1 and has dropped his ERA more than 8/10 of a run. He's only surrendered two homers over his last six games. The big right-hander has thrived in night games (4-0, 1.85), which Wednesday's contest will be. It will be intriguing to see him against the Red Sox, after he was unable to pitch in last year's World Series.

We're losing this one. I can just feel a sweep. Carpenter is a great pitcher and Wells has the potential to get pounded every time he steps on the mound.

Lots of rain on the St. Louis radar. Chances are this game won't be played. Both teams have tomorow off, so there is an easy make up date.

If they do play, it won't be for a while. The Sox go to Chicago for a game Friday, which is a 50 minute flight and the Cards are home this weekend for NY. They have every reason to play tomorrow.

Central Missouri is under a tornado watch until 9pm and all the rain is moving east into St. Louis.

Cardinals broadcast for me. But it's Joe Buck with some knucklehead hick, so it's still better than anything with Joe Morgan. Plus they have the troop-cam.

As good as Wells has been, Carpenter has been just as good, maybe better. This is mucho frustrating.

Hey Red Sox Rooter, just a question since you're on. Since you have MLB Extra Innings and the one on MLB.com where you can watch the games, on the MLB website, do you get the choice to watch the game on NESN? If so, it maybe definitely worth it for me to do that next year.

Back to the game: Captain Varitek! 3-0 Sox.

No choice at all. But still worth it - sometimes it's interesting to hear what other announcers say. Usually it's the home team's announcers but with poorer teams and teams without a major market, NESN is the default broadcast.

I'd say 80% of the games are on the NESN feed. This year's ratio is worse than last years so it may change next year.

Sometimes it's really interesting. Tonight is Joe Buck, Seattle has Dave "Hendu" Henderson and John Miller has a team too. Not that we ever play the Dodgers, but Vin Scully is out there also.

The only bad time is a NY game in NY with Paul O'Neil.
