I don't know if anyone saw Damon on the Regis and Kelly show, but it looks as if Steinbrenner is gonna make a hard run to put Johnny in Pinstripes after this season. You can check out the whole story on the Rumors forum on Foxsports.com. Who knows....After losing D-Lowe and Pedro last year, I guess anyone is expendable.....unless your name is Jason Varitek. I would hate to see Johnny go. Hopefully he's just using this for negotion purposes. Who knows.

as much as we all love damon we should understand that unless his asking price is reasonable he should be let go. damon is going to want at least a 4 year deal in the 10+ per year range. i wouldn't offer that to him.. unless we get a hometown discount he's good as gone.

i don't see him going to the yankess, i see him using the yankees for leverage to get 12 mill a year to them and give us a hometown discount of 10 mill per year, which is too much anyways.

still, it's too early to think about this stuff, lets just hope he has a great season.

I'd understand if he left, especially if we couldn't afford to pay him what he wants, but he couldn't possibly go to the yankees. He made the cover of Boston magazine!

The guys at FSNE are already talking about life without Damon next season. They all agree that he's as good as gone.

i'm sure it's nothing 12 mill per year over 4 years couldn't solve..

True but I could not imagine Damon with the clean shaven hair cut short style that the Yankees demand.... im sure theres someone else who can also give him the price he wants and also let him act how he wants.

Think about it...does anyone think Damon would fit in, in the strict NY Yankees organization?

I don't think he would fit in with the Yankees at all.

Back to the topic... the way Damon has been hitting the ball is pretty amazing. He is sure showing that he is capable of making the big bucks next year, hopefully with us. I cant imagine next years team without Johnny.

I can't either. I bet if he doesn't stay he will retire. He recently bought a house in Brookline so I can't imagine him going anywhere else really.

Yes I'm OC. Just kidding. I just have about a million that I've made and I get bored easy. *shrug*

i hope Johnny stays in Beantown....nobody here wants the caveman, plus hes great in that organization, everything aside i think he should retire in Boston

I hope Damon stays. But I think the only true Red Sox player that's actually kept his word about not leaving the Sox is Wake. I saw it on NESN. Other guys say they'll always stay but then they get offered more $$ so they leave.

im sure it bothers you guys that players like Pedro and Lowe left, but would it bother you more if they had came to the Yankees? or even if Nomar had signed here to play second, something he said he was willing to do. We ALL know Pedro wouldnt have minded donning navy blue pinstripes, as he has said and done many thing in his last 2-3 years in Boston that hints that, as well as talking to Steinbrenner early in the winter, and Lowe also made a remark after the ALCS that he wouldnt mind playing here and also contacted Brian Cashman in the offseason. So how about it, would it be more of a bother if either Lowe, Pedro, or Nomar were wearing pinstripes?

not really. Nomar is just injury plaqued....i dunno, he's just the same Nomar he use to be a few years back. Pedro....psssh, he'd be a perfect fit in New York, but I highly doubt George would of liked his Prima Madonna ways. Lowe would of stung a bit for me personally, but to see Johnny Damon in stripes is like you yankee fans seeing Jeter in Red Sox red.

God I love Timmy....he's such a workhouse and has bent backwards for the Sox. Gonna be a sad day when number 49 gets retired at the Fens.

Lowe would have quickly changed his mind...you'd all boo him for trying and not delivering, but whatever. I like Lowe, but I didn't really mind seeing him go. Yes, I'll be forever greatful, but you can't get to the postseason without going through the regular season. Nomar, I don't care...take him. I'd be mad about Pedro...I still love him. He is wrongly trashed here and should not be. Without Pedro, we don't win the WS. And I'm sure throwing Zimmer to the ground was a sure sign he wanted to go to the Yanks

For me, Lowe would have stung the worst, especially after his performances in the Playoffs. Nomar would have just ripped his groin in the Bronx (OUCH poor guy), and Pedro did alot for us, and it was hard to see him go, I liked Pedro and Lowe when they left and am still sorta sad they left, but I cant dwell on the past

If Pedro had gone to the Yankees it would have bothered me I loved him and if Nomar had gone to the Yankees it would have bothered me only because he was the face of the Red Sox for so long. Had Lowe gone I would not have given a crap. We got a ring now get that stupid "mental gidget" the hell out. I know Yankee fans say they don't want Damon but all emotions put aside look at the Yankees outfield right now they badly need someone like Damon. As hard as it is for some of us to imagine it is not only a possibility but a strong possibility that Johnny Damon is wearing pinstripes next year.

Or back in a Sox uni...he loves it here. And I don't just mean on the team, I mean he loves life in Boston as well. I basically lived with him the whole last season, well right next to his apartment room.
Posted
I'm sure he does but when it all boils down to it he's gonna want a certain ammount of money and a certain ammount of years and I don't know if the Sox are willing to shell out that much for one player not in this day and age anyways especially not on a center fielder who in the terms of the contract he wants willl age a lot.

I don't think he would go anyway, unless MAD DOUGH was involved. Johnny likes Boston and I hope he will continue throughout his career staying here.

He's going to want 4-5 years, the Red Sox won't give him that but another team probably will. Plus he's got Boras as an agent so he's not going to budge.
