Nice Job Mike Myers.

Ramirez having a horrible night thus far, Johnson pitching better than expected. On a bright note, the Yankees do have Tom Gordon warming up in the bullpen.

I don't think Randy's having his best night, he's been wilder than expected and he left some over the plate early in the game.

I don't think Wells' head was all there, in fact I think this will be a reoccuring problem due to his emotional problems.

no way....well's will be back for his next start- you can quote me on that

heres our 1st REAL LOOK at Blaine Neal

I don't think it was wise to put a newbie in a tight game. It almost seemed like a concession on the part of the Red Sox. Oh well, when do we play again, Tuesday?

It's a long season.

This is the key. It is an extremely long season. At least the first one will be under the belt, right? :dunno:

I think we're fine the rest of the way. David Wells just doesn't do it for me. I'd like to see Ben Sheets in a Red Sox uniform by the Trade Deadline.

No better way than to get the bad taste out of my mouth with a blowout.

An opening day victory trumps a 4 game collapse? If you say so.

I think the Brewers are generally interested in locking up Sheets to a long-term deal.

I for one hope Wade Miller is healthy and effective sooner than later. I could live with Wells as a #4 starter...

Final pitching stats....here's all of 'em before you can get them from anyone else...

D. Wells: 4 ER, 10 H, 4.1 IP, 4/1 K/BB, 2 HB, 0 HR, 80 PC

M. Myers: 0 ER, 0 H, .2 IP, 0/0 K/BB, 0 HB, 0 HR, 2 PC

B. Neal: 1 ER, 1 H, .1 IP, 0/1 K/BB, 0 HB, 0 HR, 10 PC

A. Embree: 0 ER, 1 H, .2 IP, 0/1 K/BB, 0 HB, 0 HR, 16 PC

M. Timlin: 0 ER, 1 H, 1 IP, 1/0 K/BB, 0 HB, 0 HR, 25 PC

M. Mantei: 2 ER, 1 H, .2 IP, 1/3 K/BB, 0 HB, 1 HR, 29 PC

J. Halama: 0 ER, 1 H, .1 IP, 0/0 K/BB, 0 HB, 0 HR, 8 PC

PC= pitch count (just thought i'd toss that out there for those who don't read statistics as much)

Overall Boomer didn't look the greatest, and if I hate to take some positive out of that, look at the numbers Timlin put up.

Well I wouldn't have had high hopes with Wells anyway.

We know how good he can be, so he was certainly worth signing, but on the other hand, at this point in his life we certainly can't bank on him either. He hasn't exactly been a benchmark of consistency in recent years. I hope they have a back up plan whether they'll need it or not.

Let's see how Clement does tonight. I think he'll do well.

Oh, and why is Matsui so amazing against us. He's above average but against us he's unstoppable. If you were to only watch Yanks Sox games, you'd think he was the Michael Jordan of baseball.

They don't play tonight.

It's like Ortiz against the Yankees... only Red Sox player that really got a good hit off of RJ.

Millar did as well, unfortunately Matsui was there.

One thing to take away from yesterday's game is that, although Johnson pitched extremely well, he was not dominant. He's going to have his troubles with this Boston lineup because they don't strike out very much (outside of Bellhorn <_ call me crazy but i think manny and ortiz will own him this year. millar may be a big factor too being he dead fastball guy.>

I don't read lips but I would swear I saw Johnson say "I don't want any part of this guy" to himself before proceeding to walk Millar 4-0.
