I'm hoping for St Louis. Less pitching.

But beating Roger Clemens in the world series would be so damn satisfying

I think we match up favorably with either team. Houston is a deaper team, but yes, it would be awesome to beat Rocket. We'll have to see tomorrow, can't say I really at the moment.

For you Dad....

We Win!

I'm living a dream...I've gotten no sleep all week and I don't want to sleep tonight!!!

More champagne!!!!

I'm going to sleep like a baby.

Yeszir, I was just about as mad as you when Pedro came in. Let's see...

Downside:

1) Lowe is mowing the Yanks' lineup down like John Deere

2) Pedro generally takes a couple of innings to get in the game

3) Gets NY crowd back in the game

4) Jeopardizes rotation for WS

Upside:

1) Ummmm.... er... still trying to find one... still thinking...

I was screaming at the TV and my wife was trying to calm me down. Look, obviously Francona is doing something right because we are going to the Series after completing one of the greatest comebacks in sports history. But every once in a while he pulls a tin-foil-hat idea out of some bodily orifice and really stinks the place up.

Not that it is Pedro's role to do this, but sometimes I wish he would tell his manager to get a clue.

2003 ALCS, Game 7, Bottom 8th:

Grady: OK, Petey, get back out there.

Pedro: Are you out of your mind? I'm gassed. Put in Mr. Unhittable Mike Timlin [he was unhittable in the postseason last year] and then hand the ball to Williamson and we'll be drinking champagne in 40 minutes.

Grady: Oh. Good idea. Yeah, we'll do that instead.

2004 ALCS, Game 7, Mid-6th

Tito: Petey, start warming up -- you're pitching the 7th.

Pedro: Tito, that is the single stupidest idea I have heard since this time last year. I'd rather shave my head with a cheese grater than go in this game right now. Keep D-Lowe in for at least one more inning, you dimwit. He's only thrown 69 frickin' pitches!!!!

Tito: Hmmm... I, uh, I like the way that sounds. I hadn't noticed that Lowe was pitching effectively tonight. Good plan, Petey -- we'll just go with that.

Yeah, like I said, that's not Petey's job, but he could sure save us some grief.

But enough moaning. We are going to the World Series, and no one wants to tangle with our momentum right now. Life is good.

Wow.

I was so nervous before this game I honestly thought I might vomit. My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy.

I've got to call my Dad today.

To All:

I realize that I've been one of (if not the most) negative poster on this board coming into today. I just couldn't get Aaron Boone's celebration out of my head. I couldn't believe this was happening. I couldn't believe we were on the verge of the most amazing comeback in the history of baseball, possibly sports!

I believe this year's team is capable of anything. The fought against history, they fought against the pressure of beating the most successful American sports franchise EVER 4 straight. D-Lowe stepped up. Johnny D and Bellhorn stepped up when needed.

I am officially a believer. A World Series will be awesome, I can't wait. Bring on whatever they've got, because we've got it matched. I loved Curt Schilling's comments after the game:

"I'll be ready."

I've got no idea how, but I believe he will somehow get into a game and make a difference. The Red Sox closed out an important game. For the first time EVER, they beat the Yankees when it really counted.

I'm still in shock. I'm tired. This team amazes me.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I didn't post here all day yesterday because I had nothing but negative things to say. I read somewhere that the Yanks hadn't lost a game 7 at home since 1958 and that upset me the whole day.

That said, wow. I don't know what it's like to win the World Series, but if it's better than this I may die from happiness. Thanks to all of you guys for the great sox talk at talksox.

Believe.

RedSoxRooter,

I wanted to make a point. Until yesterday's win, I was just WAITING for the Yankees to beat us. I couldn't bring myself to believe that this COULD be a special year.

Regardless of what happens in the next round, this year is so special because we BEAT the YANKEES. We beat the team that is always associated with its killer instinct, it's ability to win important games, to "close the deal."

Well, we closed the deal last night. We turned the tables. There is no sweeter way to get to the World Series.

This is the picture STILL fresh in my mind from last year's disappointment.

Who would have thought that that served as motivation for this year.

I am still in shock at last night. It hasn't hit me yet...

Ouch, that hurts Derek. Why post it.... I'm getting chills.

But, thinking about A-Rod crying in the dugout makes it all seem ok. :D
