  1. Unfortunately that’s what I think they will do too…
  2. I chose pretenders so I focused on that. I loved watching them on that streak. Maybe I didn’t mention enough positive stuff, and there is plenty. But I was hearing all about buying at the deadline after this run and I still think that would be a big mistake. Which is why I made this thread. My main focus was why we shouldn’t buy and no so much on the more positive things. overall I really like the pitching, a few good prospects we got in the organization. Drafting has been good as well. if done correctly, 2027, or whenever they play ball again, should be the start of a long run being real contenders. Not pretenders.
  3. Kind of. Usually at 27 the odds are he is mostly what he is. Which was the main point. 6-7 years in pro ball is still a lot. He switched positions, but I still think he’s a AAAA player… I hope he proves me wrong
  4. Dude I was a year or so off. The dude is a AAAA player right now. Could he become something more? Probably, but I would guess not much. He’s a good player who’s a replacement guy at 27.
  5. We may need an extra dependable arm down the stretch with Tolle and Bennett almost at last years ip totals already,… think Jake Peavey in 2013. Not a Skubal but the next tier.
  6. So he became a utility guy 3-4 years ago? He does not remind me of a catcher. I like the dude. I’m just seeing another 250-260 streaky hitter with some pop in his bat who can play multiple positions. I hope he proves me wrong and becomes more than just that. I miss 280-300ba 30hr 100 rbi we need a couple of those again.
  7. Seigler was drafted in. 2018 23rd by NYY. He’s a AAAA at this point unless he’s a really late bloomer. Hasn’t done a whole lot the last 9 years since he was drafted.
  8. If they were to trade for a couple players Peralta and Pena would be good choices. they should sell. I’m just playing along.
  9. Not sure I’d pay anyone beside Ohtani that much money. At least between tv and merch, Ohtanis deal is already paid for itself. It would be a 4/204 deal if he opts out in 2030. If it’s a salary dump what would we have to give up in prospects if we took on that whole deal? We will drop payroll by over 50m by the end of 2027 with story and Yoshida off the books. Probably Duran by then too, which is another 8-10m saved. ill talk to The Os, if they’re out of it, on Alonso. Take that whole deal and send back a couple 11-20 prospects. If they are getting rid of these guys it’s for salary reasons. Both would have 4 years left. One 51m per and the other is 31m id rather go with Alonso. The deals over in four years. If Soto got hurt he won’t opt out. I don’t want to chance having to pay some dude 51m per for 13 more year until he’s 40. No thanks.
  10. Breslow can’t look to “Win” the trade. The best trades are usually the ones where both win. Both teams got what they wanted and needed and were happy with what they sent packing for the return.
  11. Agree. I was just sticking to the main culprits
  12. Yeah, I get the pros and cons for sure. Just my personal philosophy is to wait at least a full played year of 600 ABs. Unless it’s Trout or Judge type I stick to it usually. If I’m the Sox I don’t count Pennie’s.
  13. Yes! Cora doesn’t NOT get a pass. He was NOT a fan of Breslow and the new direction of the ownership.
  14. Stock up on pitching always. And yeah, seemed like he got some good athletic contact guys in the draft for position players
  15. Right now we have four of our 5 original starters out with no timetable for any of them yet. Crochet and Early haven’t even picked up a baseball yet. A groin injury can linger and Tolle and Bennett will surely be well over their innings limit during or by the end of September. Our offense sucked for three months and we just had a nice winning streak vs a decimated NYY team, the Rockies LAA and the NYM. now I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy it but let’s not fool ourselves, we would have to trade the farm to get the big bat, starter, or any other player we may need to replace by Aug 3. we can get a LOT for Gray and Chapman. I’d listen on other players as well as some teams may get a little desperate and overspend. It’s a sellers market.
  16. Exactly. People talking about Crochet, who hasn’t thrown a baseball yet. And Anthony who won’t listen to doctors that tell him to get to FtMeyers and rehab because his widdle finger hurts. its a bad idea to sign guys who arnent mike trout to long term deals before they have proved anything in MLB. You wait until the league makes their adjustments and see how he adjusts back. See Kristian Campbell. 16.25 for a kid that’s done nothing and has proved nothing in MLB. All it was was a big hype machine. now, I’m not saying he’s not talented and one day wont earn that money when he’s actually making money on the backend of that deal. But he could also turn out to be soft like Casas And Mayer.
  17. I have way more confidence in him than the other two mentioned with him. Gonzales and Phillips
  18. I think Primera is the real deal. A ways away, but I like what I see at an early age.couple more names in Greenville I’m just keeping an eye on too. we got all SS OF and Starting pitching in the draft. I. Good with that.
  19. I’m in the camp of right from the word go Breslow handling it poorly and with zero respect for the player and the prior deal that was made…and Devers should have done what was asked of him regardless... Breslow had zero care for the guy that just was given a Huge deal. Maybe inform him of your plans beforehand, since they involve him and he was told otherwise a year prior. Breslow said dumb s*** like “I didn’t sign him”, which is more proof his poor communication skills .. Devers got an attitude, which I understand, but he still should have gone along with the program and not acted like a spoiled brat and become a cancer. after all, he’s an employee when all is said and done. Not like my job, but still… overall Breslow gets an F for how he handled it and Devers gets a fail for how he did. I’m not mad he’s gone. He wasn’t a favorite of mine, but there’s more than one guy in the wrong here.
  20. If I’m trading whitherspoon and his 5m signing bonus, it’ll be for something worthwhile. He has a little more stock to me than the other two. phillips looks more and more like a back end bullpen guy. Gonzales looks good, but still a ways away. Agree, I’d move all of them.
  21. Even when Theo was here it seemed they were forcing their way onto him.
