To be clear the Drewski6 rostermove is W.Abreu for Paredes and prospects (good ones because they really want Abreu so I make them play) Those prospects we got in the deal (carry a lot of value) + Harrison for Rooker If that doesnt get it done, I sub in a better pitcher for Harrison (Bello or Early) but I stop at Tolle.

Houston is not demanding a pitcher, thats the problem. They are demanding Abreu. So fine Abreu and Bello and Early for Paredes and Alvarez

It depends on if Springer and/or Ohtani count. I dunno 3-5? I love Brent Rooker for this team and I think hes a pure DH but I dont see him as only a DH because his bat fits so well that it think it brings us up from 3rd place to competitor.

Its dead now. It was my idea for a bad contract swap and I thought Teoscar would have a resurgence at Fenway. Hes a guy weve had mutual interest in the past. The trade was HIcks for Hernandez. Im not interested in giving up value for Teoscar. Instead we attached a prospect to Hicks to save money, which I dont hate. But I thought I had a good idea of what to do with HIcks. I thought the dodgers would rather gamble on a hicks resurgence (BP almost cost them WS last year) and we would be more willing to gamble on Teoscar resurgence (mutual interest in past, good swing for fenway). Plus the ole "both guys could use a change of scenary" But its dead. HIcks is gone and Im not like shopping for Teoscar lol, a bad defensive outfidler 33 yrs old making money coming off a bad season at the plate. The point was salvaging value for Hicks and is dead now.

When you say I would never trade Duran for Paredes but I would do Duran for Paredes AND a reliever, to me you are not fixing the offense. You are again, taking from the offense, to get a RP (and a more clean roster). But its more for run prevention. If its like Duran or Abreu for a solid defensive infielder who is an okay hitter, to me this isnt fixing the problem of not enough offense. Again we are taking from theoffense to add to the run prevention. Is it ever going to be enough? When last year concluded, in my opinion, our run prevention exceeded our run creation. And weve improved our run prevention soooo many times since then to the point where I dont think we have enough spots for all our MLB ready pitchers. I think thats a bigger logjam than having 3 corner outfielders (Duran, Abreu, Anthony). So these trades that improve defensive aignment (run prevention) or trade an offensive player for a less valuable offensive player and a bullpen piece arent doing it for me. At least on their own. I would need another trade on top of that, if for example we traded duran for a slick fielding infielder. Again, its more subtract from the offense and Im ringing the "theres not enough offense as it is" bell. SO I would need another trade to get some real offense. So you wanna trade Duran for defensive infielder, I think we need to go get a real elite bat but thats hard to do. Im waiting for us to circle back on Seager.

When a DH is an elite hitter, and we have 0 elite hitters, I do not see that DH as only a DH. I see them as the anchor to our lineup/offense.

Im fine with trading Rafaela for a 2b, I could be fine with Abreu for a 2b but if you do the latter (Abreu for a 2b) that may not improve the offense as much as I think is needed. So if you do that move, I may want to also go try to get a Brent Rooker, for example (if you trade Abreu). The only time Im interested in getting a DH on the trade market is if a) we trade an outfielder for an infielder and b) that DH who we are getting would be the best hitter on the team. Like a Yordan Alvarez or a Brent Rooker. I would do W. Abreu, Bello, Harrison and Early for Paredes and Yordan Alvarez.

Im more interested in improving the offense than making the roster more "clean"/"everybody has a position" Logjams are depth.

We have 4 good hitters, abreu for paredes + and we have (checks notes)....4 good hitters WEve got enough pitching for 2 entire rotations and enough hitting for 4/9 a lineup Trading a bat for a bat is not the answer (my opinion)

Id rather trade a pitcher and if Houston doesnt want a pitcher, Id rather move on. Id offer Bello, Early, and Harrison for Marte before I offered Abreu for Paredes and Billy Jean King.

Its very hard to trade Duran and improve the offense. I dont think Masa just comes in and replaces Duran at the plate. Duran is an offensive driver to me, and Masa is just trying to draw a walk or push a single through the infield and then play station to station and to me they are universes apart. I dont want Masa hitting in the top 4 of the lineup.

Cant disagree. Like 5GG said, I dont think we can trade any of our four plus bats (duran, abreu, anthony, contreras) because I think you 8 capable starting pitchers and 15 capable hitters (I think we have more than 4 capable hitters, but not more than four "plus" hitters) So Im just more against trading Duran than you are. But I do believe you that you like the guy even though you consider options that include trading him. Theres a world I trade Duran, there are more worlds that you trade Duran. Im just more hesitatnt to it than you. But I see your points and they are reasonable. Duran is not a perfect leader, I know that. I do love a mental health rebound story. Greinke is one as well. Also, I was captain trade duran 2 years ago and ive eaten my crow over there. Not here but in my text messages.

I disagree that we need a 3b/2b more than we need someone who leads by example in the weight room. Have you looked at Mayer and Story? Do you know what will help them stay healthy? Have you ever been on a team and had to be accountable to someone like Duran? You dont want him texting you that ur being a [censored] and so you get ur butt up and you get to the gym

Justin Turner switched from 3b to 2b when he couldnt play 3b anymore. Than he switched to part time 2b / part time 1b when he couldnt play 2b 160 games anymore. Then he switched to part time 1b/part time dh when he couldnt really field anymore. Then he switched to pure backup/bench player. Ive seen a few times the ability to field goes before the ability to hit. Old Mike Lowell comes to mind as a guy who would limp to the plate get solid wood on the ball and smash it into the gap then limp to first. And he couldnt field or really move but he could still hit and im not sure if theres value in carrying those kind of guys on your 26 man in 2026 (no offense to lowell). But I honestly dont think that suarez could get through 160 games or even 140 at 3b right now , and I dont mean "because they wouldnt be pretty" I mean because his body would break. Hes not an in shape 35.
