  1. IMO, only people over 70 glue a player to a position. What they wanted, and what you got, were options. Versatility. Mix and match. its 2025, theres no such things as a third baseman anymore. Everybody is a "slash" as in 3b (slash) outfielder (slash) emergency catcher (slash) comptroller Gotta wear many hats. WOuld Bregman have played 3b, or 2b, or DH, or 1b or OF? The answer is "Yes"
  2. and now ive talked myself into liking breslow locking up the young guys because.....inflation bruh i change my mind a lot, sue me
  3. Lets see what bichette signs for before we declare that story isnt worth his contract. My fear is that the new go-forward is that anybody who is a bona fide major leaguer signed to a contract under 400m is a bargain* *Until the yankees, dodgers, phils, toronto run out of spots But Im not sure i wanna live in that world where we wait for the big dogs to finish eating before we attack the scraps. I hope story does NOT opt out for a reason that ive previously said Death....taxes......and.....inflation bruh
  4. If the right hand is truly not talking to the left hand like that, than thats wild. Due to the timing of it all, I find it more likely that they just went hard after bregman because he was the last man standing and they figured theyd figure out the position. Breslow doesnt decide where people play tho.
  5. you dont know this. inflation , bruh.
  6. i mean, didnt he lead us in hr, rbi, hits? Im not sure i want to be in a position where story, breg opt out, duran is traded for pitching, and our hitting falls off after RA leading off.
  7. I can see 5/170 with deferments that push the total true (present) value down to 140.
  8. he'll ask for 5/200 and get 5/165. Maybe some deferred money. If he has to settle it will be 4/135
  9. no way he settles for 110/4.
  10. Im not sure about that. they got involved with bregman late, it might have been a timing thing. But it might also have been a preference thing. Cant play alonso at 2b.
  11. story , at least, is an athletic person.
  12. change or get left behind. I have to figure out how to integrate AI into my pharmaceutical consulting company and im not particularly thrilled about it , but evolve or die
  13. complaining about baseball players being moved around is like complaining about nba teams shooting more 3s. modernize.
  14. im not a "your draft position" immediately becomes irrelevant or your "prospect status immediately becomes irrelevant" type of guy ,but I get the argument. I just lean towards once high draft picks/top prospects , even if they havent lived up to it by the time they are say, 25 years old (ish) - I still believe that in many cases the former top prospects/draft picks have a higher than most chance of regaining / breaking out. Lot of those stories. Dude is expected to be a stud but struggles getting to the show and is close to being deemed a bust, but then figures it out, just took a little extra time.
  15. for mackenzie gore? yes, because i care a lot about pedigree and gore was drafted 3 overall.
  16. Im fine getting one of schwarber / alonso and letting yoshida vs casas fight it out for other 1b/dh spot. ANd i dont care if they play if yoshida at first because they sign schwarber over alonso. My money is on masa beating casas. Not because of the money involved but because i think hes a better ballplayer.
  17. Could, sure. The chance that story would make it through this last season wasnt particularly high and he did.
  18. Bregman was hired to play 2b, its just that raffys shoulder didnt heal enough over break and wasnt ready to start the season in a position where hed have to throw.
  19. Maybe build up some trade value.
  20. IF we're being honest, there is a sizeable gap between Schwarbers bat and alonsos. I dont care as much as some about defensive fit.
  21. I have no problem with it. If anything, Schwarber having a DH title attached to him may keep his price reasonable. Would rather target somebody whose price is dampened from being a DH only then being hurt like Sandoval, paxton
  22. Hes become very good devensively at first base, just throwing that out there. NOt saying that it would necessarily stop them.
  23. I dont want Bubic and I dont want singer
