  1. yes, right now crochet is healthy on 7/29. Over the next 5 years, that is likely to not be the case 3 of the 5. Of course it should be considered. And you are also punting on next year, lol. When weve punted the last 5. Just lose every year, that way, we never have to risk disappointment. You are scared money, just like the sox. "But look whats coming down the pipeline!!" (he says for seven straight years)
  2. Right now, we are better than both the rays and orioles. And thats after so many years of them tanking
  3. Seems to work well for the perennial bottom dwellers, lol. You can talk yourself into being scared money any year. This year, our pitchers have stayed healthy (knocks on wood) , Yankees and Dodgers have not. The AL is wide open. You punt 2 years, and you may walk into a crochet injury or another team may be absolutely stacked, and your talking yourself into punting 2 more years.
  4. If you want to trade guys for turning 28, something youve said a few times, your dream is to have the red sox to be the pirates.
  5. same ole non-committal, scared money red sox. But what if we're wrong!!!
  6. I was told that teams didnt trade players in advance of the deadline. The problem with this theory, is that after hearing it, I looked around
  7. I use to mind Rafaela at second base, because I was under the impression that he was a serviceable / passable defensive 2b, and an elite defensive outfielder Then he started making plays at 2b and now im fine with it. Granted, im biased because i never wanted to move duran or abreu so moving cedanne to inf im going to look at through that lens. But we all have our biases
  8. No they didnt, they needed to sign one more starter and one more reliever, or make a prospect swap.
  9. Addition by lack of subtraction. Without Duran, we would have fallen out of it in July. Dont think we have a major need for a bat, but dont think we have a bat to spare for pitching. At least not a core one.
  10. Enough of these buyer-buyer trade proposals (I hope)
  11. Lowell was clearly washed in 2009 and Youk could have moved back to third. LaRoche continued a very impressive and underrated career. He was on fire after we traded him in 2009. ANd in 2012, he had that GG/SS combo. He was productive through his age 34 season. None of this ever made sense.
  12. Im not sure I want to argue with "most" because then we are arguing over 55% x vs 45% y or 45% x vs 55% y But I am very confident telling you that you are overlooking how much less hitters are taught to avoid the strikeout these days. Its all about meeting the ball out in front. Pull, pull, pull. Strikeouts are understood and forgiven. Comes with selling out for power. And this is modern hitting coaching.
  13. Oh for sure. Those "PR" moves. What bothers me the most is that it worked on some of my friends. Around this time last year, they were jumping for joy about bringing back James Paxton. Im like thats not a real move, Id legit rather have Paxton Crawford. Or that second baseman Urias (?) These arent real moves! These are "now you cant say I did nothing" pretend moves.
  14. Wouldnt have had to worry about this if we just signed The Samoan in the offseason. YEET!
  15. Ask Brett Myers or Jason Kidd or even Lucic about how being a wife beater in Boston goes.
  16. Especially because the stated rationale was La Roche was too good to be a backup, and we didnt have every day room for him (we did). He went to have an OPS+ of like 150 after deadline deal and Kotchman had like an ops+ of 50. Laroche had a few more very strong years following too. We straight up traded a legit starting caliber very good ballplayer for a backup because Laroche was too good.
  17. The Laroche for Kotchman trade really pissed me off.
  18. Okay, mister double standard. This gets credit? Joe got rushed and didnt look like he knew at all what to do in that situation nor really wanted to hang in bang.... VS A guy who I cant get you to give credit to, a dude who actually wanted to fight. You see that slip? Thats boxing training. Crisps teammates loved him at every stop, and he was so fan-friendly. And he was an underrated gamer.
  19. A lot of that is philosophical changes, coaching, and trends.
  20. Im not convinced that we have the offense to spare and a giant need for pitching. Seems to me like its the offense that has been struggling more as of late.
  21. Name me a manager who isnt moving guys around and youll be showing me a dinosaur who hasnt kept up with the times.
  22. This is seen through a slant. 25% chance of Duran getting traded (per your article) is getting ignored. Comments from front office, they dont feel the need to move an OF'er getting overlooked. 25% is not the foregone conclusion that you present. Especially if we are buying. Trade our fire for what 6 starts? Thats a sell move. This isnt an obvious great deal for both sides. Duran has an SOPS+ of 165 for July. Hes on fire right now. He was on fire throughout the second half of last year.
  23. Any time you are talking about trading the face and fire of the franchise, the return package is secondary. You are failing pretty badly to make a conversation about Bubic. Duran is NOT the obvious odd man out. You accepting that as fact overshadows everything you are trying to say about (dont even care about his name)
