  1. Out of both sides of their mouth too "we tried like really really really hard to improve the roster, and we just couldnt get any deals done. We , like the fans, are disappointed. But at the end of hte day, its about wins and losses, and we think we are going to have more wins than we would have had if the dudes who we tried to sign were signed. Hold on, I have to go fire the dude who told me that what i just said doesnt make sense.
  2. well sir, before we get too far away from it, the original conversation of whether or not sox prioritizing bregman over alonso last year ....how much that implies theyll pursue bregman over alonso this year.... and im still not sure, its safe assumption because a few things have changed. They may be more likely to go after the power bat because they salary dumped their only one, and also 1b is looking less locked down than it looked this time last year. I do agree with you the best bet is usually with the incumbent team , but im not sure in this case, they'll show the same priorities. I do fully expect to have them kick tires/initiate conversations on both.
  3. not buying their crap, today, eh? love it
  4. does sony gray walk out to that nineties folksy female voiced radio song sonny came home with a list of naaaames (skip the lines i dont remember) Dayyyys go by
  5. My current vision of each is masa hitting .730 OPS(ish) for most of the year but coming on late in the season for us when we needed him the most, smoking grounders through the infield, helping to make the yankees series fun and interesting. Whereas Casas , its waddling to first base and never making it there because he popped both knees 2 steps outta the batters box yes, there is recency bias in my current visions, but thats where they are.
  6. Give us the optimistic offseason checklist followed by the hard to swallow dose of reality, eh? A tried and true formula.
  7. michelle kwan wont return my calls :/
  8. But your lineup is could be the primary, it can be the default, but it isnt the only. Cuz injuries will happen and holes will emerge. And that was my biggest beef with devers. That hes living in 1989 when everybody had a position and that was their position
  9. IMO, only people over 70 glue a player to a position. What they wanted, and what you got, were options. Versatility. Mix and match. its 2025, theres no such things as a third baseman anymore. Everybody is a "slash" as in 3b (slash) outfielder (slash) emergency catcher (slash) comptroller Gotta wear many hats. WOuld Bregman have played 3b, or 2b, or DH, or 1b or OF? The answer is "Yes"
  10. and now ive talked myself into liking breslow locking up the young guys because.....inflation bruh i change my mind a lot, sue me
  11. Lets see what bichette signs for before we declare that story isnt worth his contract. My fear is that the new go-forward is that anybody who is a bona fide major leaguer signed to a contract under 400m is a bargain* *Until the yankees, dodgers, phils, toronto run out of spots But Im not sure i wanna live in that world where we wait for the big dogs to finish eating before we attack the scraps. I hope story does NOT opt out for a reason that ive previously said Death....taxes......and.....inflation bruh
  12. If the right hand is truly not talking to the left hand like that, than thats wild. Due to the timing of it all, I find it more likely that they just went hard after bregman because he was the last man standing and they figured theyd figure out the position. Breslow doesnt decide where people play tho.
  13. you dont know this. inflation , bruh.
  14. i mean, didnt he lead us in hr, rbi, hits? Im not sure i want to be in a position where story, breg opt out, duran is traded for pitching, and our hitting falls off after RA leading off.
  15. I can see 5/170 with deferments that push the total true (present) value down to 140.
  16. he'll ask for 5/200 and get 5/165. Maybe some deferred money. If he has to settle it will be 4/135
  17. no way he settles for 110/4.
  18. Im not sure about that. they got involved with bregman late, it might have been a timing thing. But it might also have been a preference thing. Cant play alonso at 2b.
  19. story , at least, is an athletic person.
  20. change or get left behind. I have to figure out how to integrate AI into my pharmaceutical consulting company and im not particularly thrilled about it , but evolve or die
  21. complaining about baseball players being moved around is like complaining about nba teams shooting more 3s. modernize.
