  1. what issue would that be? hitting the ball at all?
  2. If you are filling holes on major league team with internal candidates (e.g. guys with options), then you arent leaving room for much 40 man depth. Send down the dudes you can send down. Hoard.
  3. Top players make 70m / yr. That contract is team friendly. ALso Zona and sox wont be negotiating in a vacuum. I think you need to dangle more than Duran. But have at it, hoss
  4. I dismissed some of your (and others) trade ideas because of high expectations of Duran. And Im here to take my L. I didnt say a barrier to the trade, I said a barrier to being okay with the trade. Last time you mentioned trading Duran , I jumped down your throat. Im not willing todo that anymore.
  5. weakest AL ive seen in my lifetime, but I dont mean to negatively contextualize the accomplishment. Im happy NOw had they missed, I would have screamed about losing playoff spots to deadline sellers 2 straight years , so glad that didnt happen but still..... Few years in a row now where at least 50% of the AL teams made the playoffs simply cuz somebodys gotta. A lot of that was the evaporating TV deals (limiting Texas ability to get back for example). But when you are losing out to teams like KC, Det last year (seller), Cle this year (seller), Rangers (no tv money, limiting them), losing out to teasm like this for yet another year in a row woulda been bad The bar was low but they cleared it and im happy. Now lets come back stronger with new players and not just "the team is mostly set". Mayer has to earn his way on to this team.
  6. I can when I screamed dont trade this guy , he''ll be our catalyst/spark/rally/leader in the playoffs. I guess I can blame myself for expecting too much.
  7. Right now, I would happily do Duran for Marte, but Im not sure they would. Marte is easy a top 3 hitting middle infielder and serviceable defensively. On a team friendly deal. I mean sign me up. Id even throw in a pitching prospect that isnt Tolle , Early, Witherspoon but if they demand witherspoon i prob do it. Cuz top talent is top talent and Marte is.
  8. Thats a lot to ask of a guy who has been a league average hitter last 3 years and lost his job last year to Vaughn and Yelich. Lowe/Hoskins/May, why we gotta shop for guys that got lost their job? Are we assuming we will stick with a mid-market mentality with little powder left after using our middle-of-the pack payroll on internal extensions? Did I just answer my own question?
  9. Oh I agree, but I would say 1b/dh than just 1b to open up schwarber (and a few other guys) as a possibility to provide the pop that we lack. We do need pop fo sho.
  10. Im very happy that the sox gave me such a fun week. I try not to lose sight that I expect one thing from this team. THats entertainment. The first 2 games were a blast, and I looked forward to all 3 games, and I was not disappointed. Wish the Pats/Bruins/Celts gave me more to look forward to though, easier to turn the page and be satsified when you have another team to help , but thats not the red sox fault Go Providence College Friars Hockey! Prob my best chance at a team i love winning a ship. But Tatum looking like hes recovering fast, so maybe something there.
  11. I dont want to see the lineup if breg and Duran are gone and no offensive additions. Story RA Abreu Nav Casas /campbell/grissom/PW/ scrap heap 1b Masa Romy Mayer Cedanne If thats 2026, 2026 will be a step back.
  12. Well going into this series, I would have countered with Romy at 1B. But sometimes you have to adjust based on a short sample when a short sample is all that youve got even though you understand the inherent risks of yanking Romys starting spot over 3 games. Still though. Between Romy/Masa/Schwarber/Casas, I think they can figure out DH/1B.
  13. True. But Id rather not pigeon hole. Your original statement was naming solid-to-better SP who make some coin, because you figure that a solid-to-better SP making low money would be super expensive. Castillo was in a list. But you summoned Hill because talk about a potential trade with Mariners and he appears. No harm in kicking tires with Sea, but that wasnt exactly your point (that we line up with Seattle) they just had a pitcher that was included in a wide net. I like your approach. People speculate that Brez got too focused on Joe R and I dont know if thats true or not, but I do know that Id rather kick tires around the league for a starter than zero in one guy. You are vulnerable to getting milked when you zero in on one guy.
  14. Didnt we go through of an offseason of this already (last offseason). Back and forth with Hill over whether or not Sea is a trade fit.
  15. Story for making it through the season and leading is in all categories. Prob the closest youll get. Or Nav. Not full cudos, agreed.
  16. Id try to trade for Rooker, but I dont think hes available.
  17. Suarez is 5'11 and had an outlier year. Alonso may be hyper expensive. More options the better though.
  18. well, i thought he would do something special in the playoffs. wonder if his BTV is still 60 lol. I will no longer be vocal about how much his spark adds to the team. Well, I wont present such as a barrier to being okay to trading him at least.
