  1. Desperate Dave said he wanted to bring back everyone and he is trying his best to do just that. I give him huge props!
  2. Cardinals got a super sweet deal bagging Goldschmidt. If we sign eovaldi that would be a huge win.
  3. Just my opinion but it seems like ..... Relievers in their prime that have 70 or more appearances per year usually have a three year window before the wheels fall off in year 4. In the case of relievers over 35, i think it is all about command and control.
  4. I do not believe it is an “either or” choice. I believe you can have prolonged success and championships. Prolonged winning and keeping championship quality teams year after year is about maximizing personnel. Hard decisions are needed, unpopular decisions are needed, but it’s always about being honest about your players. (And yes, a little luck on the health front always helps) Winning is addictive. We are all in need of instant gratification. Patience is in short supply. I understand why teams sell out for the chance to bag a trophy today, knowing nothing is guaranteed tomorrow!
  5. That is true, but while some players show up for work and cash their checks, others do that and drink the cool aid. Robertson guzzled the cool aid.
  6. Seems like a possible solution to avoid the large long term contracts is to keep the farm system producing players.
  7. I think the nationals are smart to invest in the rotation and let Harper walk. Desperate Dave seems to be locked in on wooing eovaldi back. Should get interesting.
  8. And how many of them are under six foot tall?
  9. Someone needs to take eovaldi up in a helicopter over Houston and show him the giant cancer causing cloud that hangs over Houston and causes Houston to have super high cancer rates! There is a reason md Anderson is in Houston. Time for eovaldi to come back home to Boston!
  10. Bradley’s value will never be greater than it is now! I still would not trade him, but desperate Dave could probably get a sweet deal for Bradley this offseason!
  11. Which is why sandavol smiles widely when he think about boston’s Baseball operations department!
  12. Much like s bad case of herpies, he’s back again!
  13. Robertson has too much yankee stink on him. Britton on the other hand would be a nice addition.
  14. Haven’t we learned our lesson about long contracts for tiny players from the contract we gave pedrioa?
  15. I think the Mets made a nice deal with this trade. If cano is healthy, I see him having more success in New York than Seattle. Plus they add the best reliever in the game! Plus the Mets unload Bruce without sacrificing their best two prospects! The guy the Mets really need to put them over the top is mookie. Unfortunately I do not see desperate Dave moving mookie this offseason!
  16. We could always sign buchholz as a bullpen guy! And keep in mind Feltman and Lakin’s should be in Boston in 2019!
  17. Speaking of control problems, should we take a gamble on Herrera?
  18. Looks like the eovaldi sweepstakes is down to us and Houston! Time for John Henry to open the wallet and dig a little deeper!
  19. I’m gong with bob Stanley! Love sinker ballers.
  20. So why don’t the players get that?
  21. I’m going with happ, Britton and Herrera as three replacements.
  22. Congrats to mr. butler! May he enjoy a super successful career as a manager one day.
  23. Shortstops with great gloves are fairly easy to find. Just shake a tree and a dozen fall out. Shortstops with offensive tools however tend to be hoarded like gold. And harder to find than an intelligent Yankees fan. I think bogey brings a lot to the table offensively, and is probably below average defensively. But unless benintendi and/or Devers steps up offensively, we may need to overpay to keep bogey!
  24. Isn’t that why teams need to keep replenishing the talent via the minors? We need to sign the superstars, like mookie and let the secondary talent go, like Bradley and bogey, but ideally we would be bringing up talent to replace these type guys. The piece that is continuing to be thorn in our side is our inability to produce top of the rotation starting pitching.
  25. Amen brother! I agree 100 percent. One caveat I would add is that if we are resorting to a trade, we should not trade for sore armed relievers that do nothing for us. Ps: not sure there are anymore sore armed relievers to trade for, as desperate Dave has collected just about all of them,
