  1. If management brings in desperate Dave and gives him the keys to the Bugatti and says win at all cost, shouldn’t the draining of the farm system be considered as a logical step in the win at all cost marching orders?
  2. The goal is to build an organization capable of sustained success, including championships, year after year.
  3. Clearly the definition of the term “farm system” is too big for you. But by all means, keeping playing the short game, it’s had so much success for you guys over the last 15 years or so.
  4. I agree 100 percent with this. Except, I think desperate Dave was driving the bus on the spring training country club atmosphere, which is why Henry showed him the trap door!
  5. Amen brother! 5 years max on Betts or let someone else choke on the end years of a longer contract after Betts breaks down aka pedrioa.
  6. There’s no excuse for why the hitters were not prepared for the regular season. As they say, no championship was ever won in April, but you can sure lose one in April. Terrible decisions in spring training, injured starters and struggles at Fenway aside, we are still 9 games over .500. I mean we are not Baltimore! Maybe that’s why Cora should keep his job!
  7. I do not think our farm system is dead. We graduated two or three guys this year. Hernandez looks like a fixture in the bullpen for the next five seasons. Chavis is a key role player at worst. In the pipeline we have houck, our future closer once he learns how to get lefties out. Duran should replace Bradley. Hopefully feltman snaps out of his year long funk, The jewel of the system could be lugo. I think he could be a star down the road.
  8. In my opinion Henry knows exactly who torpedoed us and took corrective action. Hence desperate Dave is now enjoying an early vacation.
  9. Desperate Dave was brought in to win a championship regardless of the cost. Check! Mission accomplished. Loved it! But to accomplish the goal, desperate Dave has left us the following: 1.) the worst farm system in baseball. 2.) bad contracts we are choking on. 3.) broke down arms. 4.) a huge luxury tax problem. Wow! Where does the new gm start?
  10. I go to a ton of college and minor league games. Love the atmosphere and generally have a great time. I consider it better value than the pro game.
  11. I agree 100 percent. By the end of April, the bullpen was taxed and the starters still struggling. Everything snowballed from there and we did not recover at all this year. In spring training 2020, Cora will be dealing with several rehabbing starters. Not sure what we are going to learn except whether or not we have the depth at starter to overcome that situation.
  12. Did our starters inability to pitch, end up over working the bullpen? Brazier seems to me to be completely burned out and pitching with a dead arm.
  13. This is 100 percent accurate. Desperate dave’s Additions to this year’s roster have a combined war of about 3.5 games. We got some regression from Betts and Martinez, but most of that is offset by devers and bogey. But when you look at the war for sale, price, Porcello, eovaldi, and Rodriguez, you see the devastation to our roster, and that takes into account the great year by Rodriguez. Starters era this year is up about a full run from last year. I think most of the problem can be tied to 2 decisions. 1.) taking Betts out of the leadoff spot at the beginning of the year. Without men on base, Martinez can easily be pitched around. 2.) not giving our starters the necessary work in spring training. Trying to go from zero to 100 in 1 day is ridiculous. And consequently, the only started who got adequate spring training work is having a career year while the others broke down. My question is were these decisions made by Cora or desperate Dave? Maybe Henry has already answered that question for us.
  14. Rule number 1 - never trade away homegrown players. Betts is going to have a monster year next year as he enters a contract year. Plus after a down year, he usually has a good year. Signing Betts to a 10 year deal is Pedroia part 2. The little guy breaks down in year five or six and we choke on the rest of the contract. Let someone visit the rabbit hole besides us.
  15. Ockimey with 2 taters, now up to 8. Dalbec with 2 taters, now up to 5. Granberg with his 3rd tater on the season.
  16. Brentz with his 5th tater of the season and ockimey with his 6th.
  17. Howlett with his 2nd tater of he season. Duran ends the day 3 for 5. Now hitting .395. Which is insane!
  18. Never thought I would ever see such written without a touch of humor involved!
  19. Does Martinez opt out at the end of this season? Could chavis be a future dh? His glove is terrible and instincts non existent. Devers has to get moved to first. His defense is causing him mental anguish which is retarding his development as a hitter! Plus the pitchers are having a hard time concealing their angst every time he bungles a play.
  20. What could they get for Porcello at the deadline?
  21. Have you seen brewer and Thornburg pitch? They are uglier than a Steinbrenner family reunion on Halloween!
  22. Great swing by benintendi!
  23. Dalbec with his 3rd tater of the season. Duran went 3 for 5 with his 13th stolen base of the season. Now hitting .387.
  24. The lack of location in April was a sign of rust especially given the lack of innings in March. By this point in the season however, sale should be past that and the real sale should be starting. But instead sale keeps throwing batting practice! Which leads me to ask, is the shoulder fried?
  25. Amen brother! Why does management insist on rushing him back. Do they enjoy watching him break down every 20 at bats?
