Trevor Story, SS, Red Sox Injuries to Triston Casas and Alex Bregman have tested Boston's infield depth, with a number of mainstays left to pick up the slack. Enter Story, whose fourth year with the Red Sox is leaving much to be desired. Despite flashing some of his trademarked power in April, Story hasn't hit a home run since May 10, with his slugging percentage down to .325. The underlying metrics paint a similar picture, with his .388 xSLG ranking in the 31st percentile. That's because he isn't hitting the ball in the air often enough, instead running a career-worst ground ball rate (49.3%). How is it not about devers? Your starting 3B just went down with an injury and devers has more experience at 3rd than anyone else on your roster.

Not so much hindsight in this particular case on my part. I have always been against signing an injured player to spend a season of recovery on my team's dime. It's not terrible when it's a small contract on maybe a reliever, but to pay almost $40M for essentially one year on a pitcher has never been a move I would do. Especially for a guy that was not going to be confused with Cy Young anytime soon.

Exactly. The people who say "go get a 1B" act like brez can just go to Walmart and find one on the middle shelf on aisle three. I think raffy is just a self centered, selfish guy.

With that loss, the sox have now dropped behind the jays into 3rd place in the AL East and 2.5 back in the WC race with 4 teams ahead of them.
