  1. Being a LEGITAMATE WS contender--NOT a team struggling to play .500 ball and stay OUT of the cellar in the AL East 3 of his 4 years in Boston. Is this clear enough ?
  2. I am not advocating big spending I am simply saying that we do not spend like we did. Whether that is good or bad is simply a matter of opinion. However if Bloom told John Henry 4 years ago when he was hired it would take 5 years { a minimum at this point} to turn around what was already a good team do you think he would have hired him? The facts are in my opinion that Bloom has done a poor to terrible job so far. Yes he may have bolstered the farm system somewhat but none has been done to add top pitching prospects which Tampa is well known for. Red Sox have not developed top SP other than possibly Bello who is not a Bloom guy.
  3. my point is that our payroll has gone from around #3 in MLB to now #11. Spending 10 million on a player nowadays is not really that much. Most of the players we let walk { JD, Eovaldi, Wacha} are doing better elsewhere than the guys Bloom brought in as replacements.
  4. we haven't spent a lot the past few winters
  5. Nice read -thanks for posting it. I wonder how he would answer MY question--"Chaim how do you feel your PLAN is progressing and when do you think the Red Sox will have a TRULY COMPETITIVE team again-not this .500 stuff??
  6. were you thinking that pitchers would simply keep pumping only fastballs at him?
  7. at least one more than a 38 year old guy with limited 1B experience
  8. i think you pretty much nailed it with this post. So long as Bloom can put a .500 team on the field AND keep the payroll down he is set for life.
  9. If anyone thinks that a rotation of Bello, Whitlock, Crawford, Houck, and Winkowski is NEAR good enough to compete I have some property to sell you. Of course couple that with the addition of Jordan . Mayer, and Yorke and Henry will be skipping cartwheels at the payroll $$ saved. Sad but that has been the plan all along..
  10. Well the Sox just lost their 2nd straight to the mighty Colorado Rockies. Just PATHETIC.
  11. How many times has John Henry said the goal " was to compete for the WS EVERY year" yet how many last place AL East finishes have we had since he stated this?
  12. or maybe it's the MO of a guy who either doesn't know what he is doing or doesn't want to totally alienate RSN
  13. Look with every GM there are hits and misss. Those who support Bloom are not going to change their opinions. The reality is that the Sox have basically played .500 since Chaim arrived and they have also cut the payroll from a top 5 to now #11 in MLB. If Sox fans are happy with that then Bloom has done a great job....
  14. teams don't give up good young SP
  15. yes generally for twice through the rotation.
  16. What pitching prospect is close to MLB ready?
  17. Red Sox home attendance is down just over 1000 fans/game not near enough to get John Henry's attention.
  18. Houck is better suited in the BP. That should be obvious by now. Bello certainly has potential but is far from proven yet. Same with Crawford but this plus another 1 yr deal on a veteran is how the Sox rotation will likely look next year.
  19. True but Devers was out of necessity as there would have been a riot on Yawkey way had he been let get away. Story was a terrible signing from day 1 in the same vein as Sale but it was certainly made as the replacement for when Bogaerts left. As for Yoshida it is still early but this looks like a good signing I agree.
  20. He was a FIRST ROUND pick right? I guess it is too much to hope he might become the Sox 2B sometime in the future??
  21. You are dreaming if you think Kike has any real trade value. A .230 bat and decent OF glove as a rental will bring back nothing more than a low level prospect that Bloom craves.
  22. This is exactly bang on. John Henry wants to win without paying long term salaries. He figured that Bloom came from Tampa who has been able to pull this off but he missed the fact that all Bloom actually did was shine Friedman's shoes. Henry has forbid Bloom from big spending and wants him to build from the farm. But this Bloom's 4th year here now and it has been a .500 era with nothing showing me things will be better in 2024. We can moan all we want about Sale, Paxton, Kluber but when they are gone who is going to fill in? A rotation of Whitlock, Bello, Crawford, Pivetta and whatever other broken down SP Bloom brings in leads to another subpar season in my view. No pitching prospects are close to MLB ready.
  23. This is one of the most sensible posts I have read on here. Can someone name a SINGLE TOP pitching prospect Bloom has drafted or acquired other than Whitlock? The franchise from which Bloom came from { Tampa} was so adept at acquiring top young pitching talent. I am not interested in some 5 year plan. This is the Boston Red Sox not some small market team. I have zero faith that Bloom can put a true contender of the field in 2024.
  24. Pardon my ignorance but who is Joe Jacques?? Another Bloom find?? This is getting beyond hilarious.
