  1. We’re talking tiny sample size, here. He’s started 3 Games in the last week and did pretty well. im not drawing conclusions from this- just pointing out it looks like the choices worked out well, in hindsight. the other 2 games he played were as a PR and late game replacement. id you think 3 for 11 or 3 for 10 in the 3 starts with two 2Bs and 2 SBs is a bad choice, so be it. I don’t, in hindsight. i would have started Mayer and want Mayer over Eaton going forward.
  2. Yup. Fangraphs has Devers worth about $28-30M per 150 games over the past 2.6 seasons. he’s not worth more than his current pay.
  3. I’d demote him today and not blink an eye. You missed my whole point. if Eaton had sucked this last week it would be on Cora, and it wouldn’t just be hindsight based. posters here live hindsight. The fact that Eaton did well over the last week is lost on the hindsight poster, or they chalk it up to luck, maybe. cora did something I would not have done and it worked, but where are the Cora hindsight bashers on this call? that’s my point. I’m not saying Eaton is worth playing unless it’s him vs DHam.
  4. If it’s with smoke and mirrors, we’ll find out soon enough, and that kid will get a chance, or second chance if it’s KC. It would suck if we roll the dice with the platoon, only to see them implode right after the deadline, but hey. KC can start mowing then, right?
  5. I’m thinking we need to ride Toro and Romy to the end. We have greater needs than a rental 1Bman
  6. I’d hate to lose Duran or Abreu, too, but I look at it like this: who takes their place in the OF and what is the drop off between one of them and Anthony or Campbell or, gasp, maybe even Garcia? now, who do we get for one of them and how much is the plus going to be replacing our 5th starter with a #2 or maybe a #3 and a better RPer than we have as our #8? compare the two comps and determine if we get better overall. IMO, we simply must trade from our area or strength and depth to upgrade an area of clear weakness and lack of healthy and viable depth.
  7. It’s not easy, but a few do it. There is a very long list of great pitchers who struggled with these issues early in their careers. we have a pretty long list of these guys in the minors and just need a couple to improve.
  8. Yup, the one play sample size once again. i like the way he got some key hits over the week, and if we judge by hindsight, I think the choice to play Eaton worked fine, recently only.
  9. In the last week? I said recently as those who bash Cora love to use small sample sizes like even 1 PA.
  10. You start nearly every post with a condescending attack. my comp was legit as I pointed out how you used a small ample size to justify why Cora sucks for not moving Rafaela up in the order, but bash someone for using a small sample size to say Duran is struggling vs lefties more than Abreu. you constantly use the very thing you bash others for using, and question their thinking skills along the way. you want one example of “another level”, why not show data that proves a player doing well over a month means he will continue to and any good manager would realise that and adjust his line up accordingly? We all know why you don’t support it with data, like you demand we do, is because there is none. another level is your choice of stats that also are influenced by the strength of teams faced, park factors and more- the same logic applies to your stats as the ones others use to support their position. i could go on, but it is pointless with someone who thinks he’s mr logic and is clearly everything but logics. cue next clown rant…
  11. If we are to be buyers, I think we need a solid SP and set up man. If a cheap bat is there then grab it. (Schwarber was cheap.)
  12. Plus, all the data points he loves show KC is an awful infielder, no matter where he plays. The ones we use do, too. So, let’s put the worst defender at SS is beyond logic. It’s plain silly.
  13. Like all managers, Cora is judged in hindsight, but it seems like playing Eaton, recently worked pretty well.
  14. Of course. A lot depends on how much they want to open a window for the next two years. They seem to always want to give the impression they are competing. Getting Duran is not really waiving the white flag, either. it all comes down to how much they like the players we will offer.
  15. You have an unusual sense of logic. you are wrong on so many levels it’s not worth the bother to address. Then, you pile on the insults and condescension. it is you who struggles with two topics that expose your contradictions.
  16. Great win! We are seeing some great numbers from guys like Romy, Toro, Story and Narvaez. if I’d told you these guys were carrying us into contention in July, whodathunkit?
  17. the guy is closing in on 1000 PAs. The league knows all about Ceddanne.
  18. I’m sold on Romy and Toro, at least for the rest of ‘25!
  19. Ryan is a great get, but Tolle could be Ryan real soon and for 5 years at low money.
  20. At the risk of repeating myself, we have so many pitchers that fit this statement. I think the odds are very good at least 2 will do well in the big. I’m guessing 3+.
  21. I was wondering the same thing. I guess Eaton is the new Toro?
  22. You can bet the first time it fails, the Cora sucks chorus will sing their refrain.
