  1. We can platoon Romy with Yoshida at DH or Mayer at 2B when Bregman returns. I prefer at DH.. I think we trade for a rental 1Bman.
  2. We’re still talking about Betts. Granted, losing Betts is up there with the Babe, but the Devers loss is bigger than losing Bogey. That one went on for months and only ended when Bogey’s decline made complaining look silly.
  3. Perhaps I should have mentioned it a few times. i return from Cancun, today.
  4. I could see Brez trade Duran, perhaps with a prospect or two for a pitching prospect, then go into buy mode, without parting with any rookies or Tolle.
  5. I think we DFA Sogard or trade Grissom. the big question is who does Anthony replace when Yoshida DHs vs RHPs?
  6. Cora does not shy away from platoons. He still refuses to give Abreu a legitimate chance vs lefties, and he’s been around a lot longer than Mayer. im not defending Cora on this. I want Mayer over Eaton, too. when Bregman returns, I hope Mayer plays 2B/SS full time. Our only two platoons would be Abreu-Anthony in RF with Anthony -Refsnyder at DH and the Toro-Romy 1B platoon. wait till they call up Yoshida! All hell May break loose, unless an OFer trade coincides with the call up.
  7. I understand the feeling that he will slump again. That’s another comp with JBJ that fits. he’s been over .700 a few times in his career but seems to regress shortly afterward as a norm. it getting kinda late in the season, and this warm streak has lasted pretty long. its hard to know if he can keep this up. We fo know your pessimism extends beyond Rafaela, which is okay. It’s often turned out that your pessimism was actually reality, so who am I to say you will be proven wrong? I have serious doubts too.
  8. Not sure brez sells to get Painter. not sure he offers what Min wants for Ryan, but I’d love to get him. I remember suggesting we trade for him last winter.
  9. Yup, pretty close to mediocre.
  10. Maybe Grissom has some trade value. When you see Eaton get the call over him, you know he can’t be worth much, although Nate plays 3B.
  11. .834 from 2015-2016 then .737 from 2017-2020 was good to okay. His 101 OPS+ over 6 years was not bad.
  12. Is say 33% seems about right.
  13. Two seasons over .830 is not really brief, but one was only about a half season
  14. Loudly, at times, To those who hate platoons, take note of the Abreu-Ref and Toro-Romy platoons or semi platoons.
  15. His D improved. His O looked on the lucky side in ‘24 but not by this much!
  16. His K% went from 32 to 26 to under 19. His BB% went from 2.9 from 23-24 to 4.6 this year. This cannot be all about pitchers not having “the book” on him yet.
  17. He was a decent hitter in the minors with some decent power and BB%s, but not many viewed him as projecting to be a plus on O. Im loving his D, so he’s a keeper in my book, even if his O declines.
  18. Yes, 2-3 as starters for sure. I’m taking AAA to DSL, so 4-6 years total.
  19. Me, too, and it’s not just because I thought it was a good signing day one. The guy is a decent hitter who Ks a lot, but these days it seems like the norm. Give me plus to great SS defense everyday and I’m smiling.
  20. B-R has .645 early June he was very hot
  21. Devers was such a bad 3Bman that I see him as more valuable as a DH. I had hoped he could be a decent 1Bman, but that was speculative. I do think he’ll be better than Casas. I was happy with the Devers signing and he’s still the hitter I expected him to be. I never viewed him as selfish before this year. That part changed for me. if we spend over the tax line this winter, I won’t be pissed at the trade, even if we swing and mi$$.
  22. He does have a 4% higher line drive % than his career, but his soft hit rate is higher, too. Its hard to give up on a guy as hot as he’s been. Romy has done this bs lefties for a couple years, so maybe he’s no fluke.
  23. 3 for 10 in 11 PAs, according to B-R, to he who is never wrong.
  24. Yankees: 7-16 since June 13. they did not improve over the winter, and they are being exposed as mediocre, just like we are.
