  1. it is still money. and they had no reason to do this. over the winter, you were looking for somewhere we could save $8M. there is going to be a bunch of dead money on the books for no reason at all. none.
  2. to be clear, i'm not against paying them, even a big prearb deal; i just think the Sox should have waited a bit more to see exactly what they are getting.
  3. i didn't mention your strawmen, Valdez, Okamoto or Lorenzen. when they get to arb, pay them if they're worth it. or not and when they get to free agency, pay them if they're worth it. or not. the money they tie up, unnecessarily tie up, could be used to pay a guy that's worth it. just wait....in a few years, Moon is going to post how we don't have the $$$ to sign a free agent because we have $40-50 million on the books on guys who aren't even here.
  4. how many "can't miss players" turn into dogshit? yeah, a lot more than those become stars like Mookie. so, yeah, lets pay stupid money to every "top prospect" on the slim chance one in hundred "might" hit it big. hell yeah, let's tie up more money now on Casas, Mayer, Narvaez, Tolle, Early, etc. to save Henry some money later. assuming they all turn into all stars.
  5. yep. Bello, Campbell and Anthony may all end up as complete busts. it was completely unnecessary to give them those contracts. they should have made them earn their contracts first rather than paying them and hoping they produce.
  6. that's the Ranger i was hoping for when we signed him. great job.
  7. i may be wrong (i'm sure my wife would say that i am), but i think some of the negativity towards Mayer (and i'm as guilty as anybody) is that it seems like he has been part of the organization (and hyped like crazy) for such a long freakin' time that people think he should be producing at an all-star level by now. it's hard to believe he's just barely 23. give it some time and he'll be fine.
  8. and the day he turns into an all-star, he'll say that he knew he was going to be an all-star all along.
  9. and with Breslow, they have the absolute worst person on the planet for this.
  10. among all MLB shortstops, Story ranks: AVG. - next to last. OBP - last SLG. -third from last OPS - next to last Ks -second most Errors - second most as far as i'm concerned, he can sit on the bench for the rest of the year, or until someone gets hurt.
  11. that's it. i think the team is far better than what they've shown. and that is on the coaches.
  12. he's 95 years old and still breathing. surprised me. i thought he was long gone.
  13. not all teams are limited to THIRTEEN pitchers; the Dodgers are allowed to carry FOURTEEN.
  14. i get it, but this team needs all the reassurance and confidence it can get.
  15. every starter got a hit and scored a run. i bet it's been a day or two since thats happened with this team.
  16. Story and Raffy both have 4 and tied for third in the league. Schanuel has 6. Devers and Bregman have 5. LOL.
  17. and he usually grounds into a DP when he doesn't strike out. dude is utterly freakin' useless.
  18. and fire Cora and the gawd-awful hitting coaches.
