  1. i give Bres an "A" for upgrading the pitching staff and an "F" for adding the "big bat" we desperately need. so i averaged them out and gave him a "D".
  2. wow....no respect for the team that won the most games in baseball last year.
  3. Duran had almost as many plate appearances as Abreu and Anthony combined.
  4. i can see the Yankees winning a lot of 11-9 games and us losing a lot of 2-1 games.
  5. i don't understand their thinking either. glad he's gone though.
  6. we always seem too... don't know why this year would be any different. would be nice to go thru a season without several of our key players go down. and i think that's what it is going to take with such an impotent lineup.
  7. 83-79. we don't have enough offense and i think Mayer, Story, Casas and half the pitching staff spend significant time on the IL.
  8. i remember the '75 season and the World Series and Hank Aaron breaking Ruth's HR record in '74. my earliest football memories were the Dolphins beating the Redskins in Super Bowl VII in 1972. i was rooting for the Redskins and even had a #43 Redskins jersey that i had my mother put "BROWN" on the back. she was confused as to why i wanted someone else's name on the back of my jersey. i tried to explain it but she never understood.
  9. never underestimate how hard it is to run in clown shoes.
  10. you're obviously younger than the rest of us. i remember when Mario Mendoza was playing for the Pirates. ironically, Mendoza's career BA (.215) was higher than the "Mendoza Line". it should be called the "Uecker Line" after Bob Uecker, who actually did have a career .200 BA. I never saw him play. i'm not THAT old.
  11. without a doubt. he's pitched 1539 innings in his career. Nolan Ryan pitched more innings than that after reaching age 38.
  12. i recommend using HRATO (Home Runs Above Tom Oliver). Tom was the Red Sox centerfielder in the early 1930s and holds the modern day record of most career at bats (1931) without ever hitting a home run. me thinks ol' Tom would fit right in with this team.
  13. i've heard DD "decimated the farm" so many times i wanna puke.
  14. Masa is a LF hitting "outfielder". and i'd be more than happy to send him to houston for IP.
  15. i'm thinking more of a line shot up the middle that was bobbled out in center.
  16. not worried about his age? after all, Marte is 32 and a full three years older than Duran, who by some accounts is "getting old".
  17. i think i'd do this. and only because i had little to no confidence in mayer.
  18. i agree. IKF is a better backup than DHam.
  19. if i had to guess.....some will call Brez a genius, some would say "it's still early", Fred would say Brez is an idiot and Henry is a cheapskate and Ol' Red will disagree with whatever you say.
  20. wait til we start having problems scoring runs and lose a few games 1-0 or 2-1. the i told-you-so's will get louder each time.
