  1. I don’t believe Story will ever fill Bogey’s shoes in Boston although I believe some already felt that way when Story was signed.
  2. I got that point 100%, but you’re missing the point that Story will no longer play 81 games at Coors.
  3. News Flash. Story now plays all 162 away from Coors Field.
  4. 1974 it was facing the potential tying, or winning runs, or pitching 3 perfect innings. It started in 1969, but was changed in 74.
  5. I don’t know, and I don’t count Whitlock on opening day, or anything before the 7th. Saturday, and a possible 4 out save was the last thing that comes to mind. Didn’t the original save concept start out you had to come in the 9th with the tying, or winning run on base to get the save? They should go back to that.
  6. That’s true, but if the Red Sox had a reliable closer they wouldn’t have as many blown saves either. They have one, but Cora doesn’t want to use him.
  7. And more blown saves.
  8. If the plan was not to use Whitlock as the closer to start the season then both Cora, and Bloom knew the Red Sox did not have a closer, which adds up to bad planning to me.
  9. Outside of Whitlock how many of these guys would be closing on another team right now?
  10. The Red Sox have 5 Saves this season, and 6 BS in only 23 games, but nope we don’t need a closer.
  11. These 3 are to professional to just go through the motions.
  12. This Red Sox team ought to feel real proud heading home after a listless 3-7 road trip all against division opponents, and tied in the loss column for last place with the Minor League O’s.
  13. This game has turned in to a fitting well deserved end to the road trip.
  14. Semien is hitting 153 at the moment.
  15. The Celtics sucked today, and the Red Sox are playing what at the moment is normal listless baseball that they have played since opening day. Neither is good, but well deserved.
  16. A good manager would know enough to bring stud closer in for a 4 out save last night, or any night he was available. Of course that takes Cora off the hook last night, because he wasn’t available.
  17. Bad trade by Bloom no matter how you look at it. Like I said Renfroe could have been traded for someone else not named Bradley who could hit a little, and play a decent D.
  18. At this point it’s getting hard to care about the freaking Red Sox. The fans were as bad as fans can be to Russell. They broke in his house, and s*** in his bed.
  19. Who said Renfroe had to be traded for JBJ? There was no one else out there? Only the Bloom knows, or maybe doesn’t know.
  20. Different story for a different time, which doesn’t take away from Bloom doing this fiasco.
  21. And paid him more for doing it.
  22. I’ve been doing that since the trade was made, and Moon made his famous head scratcher comment.
  23. Thanks for the info, and I’m all for giving Houck a shot at closing, but I just think Whitlock is just more consistent.
  24. Ok I get what your saying too, but I guess we’ll have just have to agree to disagree. If Frail hadn’t gone down again Whitlock would have been in the pen to start the season, and if Houck would have been vaxed Whitlock wouldn’t have made his last two starts anyway, so the plan was already deviated from, and the last report I had heard was that Whitlock wasn’t penciled in to start the next two weeks. I can’t confirm that though.
  25. We’ll never know is right, but with Whitlock closing is was a greater possibility to win than to lose. I’m not telling you anything you don’t know, but I’m taking my chances with Whitlock over Barnes, or the Sour Man 7 days out of the week. Even though the RED SOX only scored 1 run last night the game was there for the taken, and for Evol, and Cora, and the Red Sox did not take it, and it’s not the first game the Sox could have won this year despite not scoring runs by not having a closer, and it won’t be the last. Unlike Moon I’m not afraid to say I don’t agree with Cora, and I think Cora is wrong by not having Whitlock close games.
