  1. The fact is the 2 run leads wasn’t there, and the 1 run leads were, and all were losses.
  2. Thanks for correcting me, but 5 out of 6 ain’t bad. No Whitlock does not have a 0.00 era, but I’d take my chances with him for 3-4 outs at a time. No I remember opening day very well, but that was in long relief, and not as a closer.I’ve also stated more than once that was not Whitlock’s fault that the team is 0-3 in his starts, but the fact he’s only gone 4-5 innings has put more of a workload on the bullpen. I’m all for giving Houck a shot at closing, but Cora seems happy with what he has. I think we can agree that the way things are being done now isn’t working.
  3. I don’t have to name them, because everyone knows the 3 who should be starting. The point being that there is no one on the currant roster to take their place of the other 6.
  4. There are 6 players in this lineup today who don’t deserve to be starting.
  5. If Whitlock is as good as everyone says including myself my opinion is the Sox are 6-0 in those games that to me Whitlock should have closed out. Nowhere else, but a few on here have suggested Houck as the closer. I have said myself that I would try it, but only as a second option to Whitlock, and, because the rest of the cupboard is bare.
  6. Yes it is hypothetical that Whitlock closes those 6 games out, but don’t you actually believe that it would have happened? It was a fact that those 6 chances did exist.
  7. This was on another thread a while back, and all was discussed then too, but some just didn’t want to hear it, because they were pointing out that Bogey didn’t hit on the road either, but it was countered with now Story plays all 162 away from Coors.
  8. This was on another thread a while back, and all was discussed then too, but some just didn’t want to hear it.
  9. Your playing the what if game that doesn’t change what actually happened. Yes if the Red Sox had scored more runs then the bullpen wouldn’t have been in all these 1 run games. We all know that, but the FACT is the offense hasn’t scored more runs, and the bullpen has been in all these 1 run games, which I believe if Whitlock would have been the closer those games would have ended up in the win column and not all losses.
  10. Hanging around Chris Frail to much?
  11. Whoopie doo the farm hands are better, which is a good, but it’s a lot of hoping, and praying that the highly touted ones will turn out to be something good, but you also can’t count on that happening, and turn out as well as a Mookie, Bogey, Raffy, or a Johnny Lester. If they don’t then what? Mookie, Bogey, and Raffy are proven products, and even a haul might not match what they can do.
  12. Your MISSING the point, and facts. The Red Sox HAD THE LEAD in all six of the extra innings losses in the 8-9 innings. They didn’t need to score anymore runs. Just like yesterday they were leading 1-0 in the 9th. Facts are facts. A lead in all 6 of the extra innings losses in the 8-9 innings, so those wouldn’t have even been extra innings games. Yesterday if Whitlock had been the closer the Sox win 1-0, and no xtra innings.
  13. Why is everyone so hung up on going forward? At the moment I only care about the 2022 Boston Red Sox, and at the moment the Cora, and Bloom’s crew is a LOSING laughing stock. If everyone doesn’t care about what’s going on this year than why bother, because that’s what it looks like to me.
  14. Biggest question to me right now is would the Red Sox have a better record if Whitlock would have been closing since opening day? This isn’t a question of is Whitlock the best potential pitcher, or not, and I believe he is, but where to use Whitlock to make the Red Sox a better team. I’ll repeat again the Red Sox are 0-6 in xtra innings games that they had a lead going into the 8-9 inning, and yesterday was the latest example. The Red Sox are 0-3 in Whitlock starts, smartass, or not Whitlock is needed more in the Closer role right now compared to being a starter. The rotation isn’t the problem. The closer, or lack of is.
  15. Hill is what he is, and at 42 I don’t think he’ll turn into a pumpkin. Squash maybe, but if Wacha keeps it up no doubt.
  16. I’ve already said that the offense has sucked, but the fact is just like yesterday the Sox had a 1-0 lead, and lost. I have complete faith in Whitlock that the Team would have been 6-0 in those extra innings blown losses, and maybe 5-1 at worst. 15-13 would look a lot better right now.
  17. Just pure simple facts. 0-6, 0-6, and 0-6, and that’s just in extra innings blown losses. Doesn’t get any plainer, or simpler than that, and if you honestly believe Cora has a clue in what he’s doing I’d hate to see how the team would be if he didn’t. 10-18 is NOTHING to be proud about, and it didn’t have to be this way.
  18. I TOLD YOU for the 3rd time that this will continue to happen just like yesterday. No doubt the Red Sox offense sucks, but once again the Red Sox lost a game, which now makes them 0-6 in xtra innings games where the so called closer blew the game where the Red Sox had a lead in the 8-9 inning. Let me repeat 0-6, because the Red Sox didn’t have a closer named Whitlock. Cora still hasn’t figured out that Robles, or Barnes can not do it, and I don’t know how many losses it will take for him to realize that. Once again I’ll ask the question if Whitlock had been closing in those 6 losses how many would they have won? Whitlock has started 3 games, and the team is 0-3 though no fault of his own. So when someone ask your going to complain why we’ll I think it’s pretty obvious, and saying one problem solved I didn’t know the rotation was one problem that needed solving. It may be better for Whitlock to start, and I’m all for it if the Sox had a closer, but they don’t, and my opinion is, and has been since opening day that Whitlock needs to be the closer. I told you so then, and I’m telling you now. 0-6 in extra innings blown saves IS A FACT that didn’t need to happen.
  19. Anything new on Mayer who’s been out since Apr 23rd?
  20. Stats don’t lie. Let’s do it.
  21. I don’t think it has anything to do with how many times he goes through the order, but his motion gets out of whack like yesterday. First inning was great, but not so good after that.
  22. If he can close yes it would, but I think he’s to inconsistent from inning to inning to be a closer, but at this point the Red Sox have nothing to lose.
  23. I agree 100%, but that’s not the way that the nerds, or metrics says it should be done. I personally think pitch count is a bigger determinator than the 3rd time through the order. Any stats on pitch counts in relation to third time through the order?
  24. Old friend Daniel Bard pick up his 8th save yesterday. To bad the Red Sox didn’t have someone like that.
  25. I would suggest before we do a final diagnosis on Wacha we give him a little more time. Just look how hitting is down all over baseball, and the Red Sox are an perfect example of that., so he may be just riding the no bat wave. I’ve been watching the Red Sox since 1960 that I can remember, and I don’t remember a Red Sox lineup that has been this stagnant for this long a time, and they haven’t been facing any Jim Palmers, or Nolan Ryan’s in the last two series.
