  1. How do you know if anyone is going to fail? If someone is pitching good like Wacha the other night, or Hill today you leave them in. How do you know like today that the person coming will not fail like Houck did today? I know lots of people swear by analytics, but I swear about analytics.
  2. I agree with you that Bloom, and Cora are to blame.
  3. On the bright side JBJ got his BA up to 200 today. Way to go JBJ.
  4. Once again the Sox have tied the O’s in the loss column for last place.
  5. You left out 2020.
  6. Nah the bullpen needs work.
  7. The guy doing the piggybacking hasn’t done much backing today.
  8. Story Land is closed for the day
  9. Lots of good pitching has been wasted so far.
  10. I’m one of them to stay in.
  11. s t r e a k m a n!
  12. I agree, and pulling Hill early made more work for the BP, because Houck only went 3 after that. It’s not like the BP needs xtra work. Don’t like openers, and don’t like piggybackers.
  13. I’m with you about not jerking Whitlock around. I don’t think I’ve been selective in my stats. Whitlock couldn’t hold a 1 run lead opening day, but he was pitching in long relief, which is almost like a starter, and Cora said he would have gone 4 innings that day if he had held the lead. It’s just my opinion to make him the closer, and I’ve heard opinions on both sides. I would be on the starting side too if the Red Sox had a good reliable closer, but they don’t, and it has cost the Red Sox games.
  14. Not when you don’t have a closer, and you’ve lost games because of it. How has it worked with Whitlock starting? I’ll ask again do you think the Red Sox would have more wins if Whitlock had been closing since opening day. If you say no then we’ll just have to agree to disagree, but 10-15 to me says this way is not working.
  15. Cora won’t do it, because the rest of the nerds who run the Red Sox, and analytics don’t tell him to do so.
  16. What’s so hard to understand? He pitches the 9th with an occasional 4 out save, which I said before, and I even gave examples like 4 out save last Sat, and last night in the ninth in the same situation. 3-4 times a week if the save situation is there.
  17. I’m all for giving Houck a shot as the closer, but I just think Whitlock would be more reliable in that role, and not to mention effective.
  18. That’s what a true good closer does with an occasional 4 out save. How’s things working now with Whitlock starting? No matter how good he’s done how many innings has the BP had to pitch behind him?
  19. At the moment neither Bloom, or Cora have a clue.
  20. He would pitch 3-4 times a week with more than 4 outs like last Sat, and would have pitched the 9th last night if the situation would have been the same. I’m confident that the Sox would be 5-0 instead of 0-5 right now if Whit had been the closer in those 5 xtra inning losses.
  21. How about trying closer by committee? Oh wait he’s already trying that.
  22. Cora is dealing with the cards Bloom gave him, but Bloom has given him Whitlock, who Cora refuses to use as the closer. I’ll repeat in just 25 games the Red Sox are 0-5 in extra inning games, and have been in the lead in the 8th inning, or after all 5 games. How many of those 5 games do you think the Red Sox would have won if Whitlock had been the closer?????!
  23. 6.92 ERA for Barnes since he signed his extension. Way to go Bloom.
  24. 0-5 in extra innings games, and the Red Sox have had the lead in the 8th inning in all five, but yet Cora doesn’t think they need a real closer. Cora for MOY.
  25. Not very high ratings on NESN either.
