  1. You have kept thinking that both Kike, and Bobby D were going to have comebacks like they did last year, and to keep talking about the plan going into the season at 1B has nothing to do with it. The problem all along it took Bloom way to long to do something. A big difference between this year, and last year too was the Red Sox got off to a lot better start last year, and could afford to wait on someone getting hot.
  2. Kike, and JBJ starting the season couldn’t swing a bat between them.
  3. With this we agree.
  4. Good point, and I made the Little League comment several times, on misjudgment of balls hit into the air, and balls thrown around the IF.
  5. Not having played Dugy in RF I believe all had to do with JBJ being that much better, or even the REf Man for that matter. Of course that doesn’t explain what to hell Arroyo was doing out there, or Franchy. You have been on this Dugy is only a LF, but I haven’t heard anyone from the Red Sox say that. Duran is a bad OF no matter where you play him.
  6. To me the whole thing with Bloom at the trade deadline is he went half ass. If he did think the team had a shot at the post season he traded his starting catcher for a backup. How many GM’s around the league do you think would have made the trade? He got an OF, which was needed, but a CF/RF would have made more sense. On the other hand if Bloom thought the rest of the season wasn’t worth going for it, and just piss it away, and trade off the rest of the expiring contracts he didn’t do that either, but JH might have had something to do with that, because he doesn’t want the NESN ratings, and the actual attendance at Fenway get any lower.
  7. I saw an actual interview, but this will do.
  8. I think you sum it up pretty well. Bloom didn’t really make the trade the trade found him.
  9. The problem was Duran wasn’t good enough, and I haven’t heard anyone else say that Dugy can’t play RF. He’s no Dewey, or Mookie out there, but I think more than adequate.
  10. I heard him interviewed.
  11. And traded who to get them?
  12. 100 games of Bobby D, and Franchy was doing nothing, and as far as your timing goes Bloom said it was something that came up quickly with Hosmer, and nothing else was in the works, so how’s that for support?
  13. To not view 1B as a major blunder despite the results is not sound baseball sense to me, and I think most knowledgeable objective observers would agree.
  14. I get the reasoning. I surprised Bloom even parted with Groome.
  15. Pure conjecture on your part, which I doubt very much was happening.
  16. So desperate that they paid pretty much all his contract.
  17. I’ll give Bloom partial credit for that. They actually got a 1B for minimum wage.
  18. You are living in the past, and no I don’t know for sure what Bloom was doing, but the Hosmer deal happened at the last moment, and I for one don’t think any other deal for a 1B was in the works. If you do that’s fine, but you don’t know either. Yes the above mentioned 1B candidates were a reality, and what also was a reality is Bloom set there and watched it all happen. What Bobby D did last year had nothing to do with this year as unfortunately we all found out.
  19. Always worrying on who the Red Sox would have to give up. God forbid giving up a minor league player who not all are prospects.
  20. Conjecture? Time was almost up. Stop making the Shaw, Bobby D, and Casas excuse. It didn’t work, and it should have been know long ago, and was to most. Last year was last year, and that Bobby D is over, and gone.
  21. Cases was injured long ago was he not? Was you going to wait all year to see if Bobby D got hot like last year, and stick with Dr Strangelove Franchy Cordero? Something should have been done before game 100+.
  22. To me a team like the Red Sox a big Market Team with a $200M payroll should have a plan, but not to be out of any season they are currently in. You can build for 2023, and beyond, but not at the expense of 2022. Just because they have lots of money coming off the books, and a higher ranked farm system does not mean success in 2023. Not with Bloom at the helm. 2022 should have been better than what it is.
  23. Any objective observer could have seen 1B was a problem also, and would not have waited 100 games to get an actual 1B, and only after Hosmer fell in his lap, and not something that Bloom had intending on doing if Hosmer went to Washington Franchy would still be at 1B.
  24. Agree. Like Jim Rice said that analytics never played baseball.
  25. So after all these years that Vaz has been on the team, and all the games he has caught with two months to go on his contract, and now he was traded for something analytics? A starting catcher was traded for a backup catcher. The only place I have heard that speculation is on here, and nothing official from anyone official. Interesting take, but I think there was more to it than that.
