  1. I just don’t get what purpose the 1 yr ext offer made, or what good could have possibly come out of that in Red Sox minds. The offer was so bad that it didn’t even warrant a counter offer. I agree also that something around the 6/162 would have been accepted, or a least a good negotiation point, which by all accounts never happened.
  2. You are right that we may never know what instructions Bloom had when it came to signing Bogey, and yes JH could have could have made it happen, but if they never really wanted Bogey in the first place then the dog, and pony show the Kennedy, and Bloom put on saying how much they wanted Bogey that to me is worse than Bloom misreading the room.
  3. He has misread the room as much as Bloom did. I think most Red Sox fans that aren’t on here would rather have Bogey then any kind of damm comp pick, and blame Bloom for not offering Bogey a fair deal last offseason, and not letting Bogey get to FA. Same with Raffy that even though Raffy hasn’t gotten to FA yet he might as well have, because by not locking Raffy up last offseason I would say the price has gone up at least a $100M with the way contacts have been handled out this offseason' and I don’t see any advantage for Raffy to sign now without Raffy testing the FA waters. Once again Bloom misread the room, and botched Raffy up too.
  4. I would say this sums things up things pretty well. Three years of Bloom is three years to many, and like I’ve been say JH as good an owner as he has been might have used up his usefulness, and his commitment to winning.
  5. They could have signed Mookie, and they chose not to. They could have signed Bogey, and chose not to. So far they haven’t signed Raffy, because they have chosen not to, and to you no one is to blame for that, and to me the Red Sox are, and will be worse off for doing so, and a better ranking for the farm will not save them.
  6. Putting the blame where blame should be, and yes it does matter. The Red Sox created the mess themselves.
  7. Dugy for Mookie was not acceptable. Botching up the Bogey situation , and getting a comp pick was not acceptable, and not resigning Raffy, and only getting a comp pick would be unacceptable, but all would be what the Red Sox deserve.
  8. Once again Seabold, or Stinkin Winkin are not John Lester.
  9. Your not really comparing these ham, and eggers to Petey are you? I gave up on Duran, Downs, and Franchy too. Petey was a special case which is more the exception, and not the rule.
  10. I don’t root against anybody. That includes Bloom. If Bloom fails the Red Sox fail.
  11. Stinkin Winkin, and Seabold yes.
  12. Starter depth may be good, but quantity doesn’t always equate to quality, which I believe this is the case here. Stinkin Winkin, and Seabold are only #10, or #11 starters, and are only useable in situations like last year when starters are depleted, and only as a last option.
  13. No on Rondon, but I’m just saying with building a bridge on a bunch of young prospects/suspects who may never turn out is taking a big chance, and dreaming. Even Bello at this point is nothing more than promise.
  14. I don’t know what the holdup is on him signing, and maybe it’s years, but I think it’s more than what Kluber got.
  15. Maybe, but I would say jax summed things up pretty well. I still say that Kluber was another one of those 3rd options in the fork in the road, and was the CHEAP option compared to Evol, and Wacha, and not , because he was the better pitcher. Keep dreaming of a bridge to some young suspect arms that may never hold up a bridge of any kind. Plenty of young suspect arms, but how many are really prospects.
  16. When they offered Betts $200M the price had already gone up to $300M, and when the Red Sox offered $300M the price had already gone up to $400M. A day late, and a dollar short.
  17. The way the contracts have skyrocketed that is ancient history now. Just like what Bogey may have signed for last offseason, and what he signed for this offseason.
  18. With Betts they were always a day late, and a dollar short throughout the negotiations, and Yes Raffy was already given a lowball last offseason, but just not as bad as Bogey. The only one who has pushed Raffy out the door is JH, and Bloom. By not locking Raffy up last offseason to sign him now would probably be for double the price, and I can’t see JH doing that. Once again a day late, and a dollar short.
  19. I’m more concerned if Story will earn what he has left on his contract, which is far from a sure bet in itself.
  20. I said $168M 12 months ago. I repeat 12 months ago. Bloom came out with a offer of a 1 yr extension 12 months ago. Bloom coming out now with $162M after Bogey had gotten to FA is what’s so pitiful. You can keep playing the same old broken record about DD, and Houck, and the farm like that is going to lessen, or take away the blame that Bloom is getting for misreading the room, and botching the Bogey negotiations. It won’t, and it doesn’t.
  21. I know you had to get DD in here somehow. This is all on Bloom no matter how you try to spin it back to DD. $162M/6 would had been a good offer 12 months ago, but not now, which probably wasn’t even close to what more than 1 team offered. Bloom misread the room, and botched this up, and after 3 years this was the best he came up with. Pitiful, just plain pitiful.
  22. The BIG mistake was was the offer came 12 months to late.
  23. The 6/162, which was a little lower than my suggested 6/168 should have been made last offseason. Waiting till after FA they knew he wouldn’t take it.
  24. The only difference is that JH did not meet Bogey out in the parking lot like he did Lester.
  25. The old JH fool me once fool me twice routine.
