  1. It is complicated, and when I read it again it said a team could keep someone on the 60 day, and if it did the same rule 5 rules would apply for the following year when he would have to be kept on the active roster. Confusing?
  2. Turner can also fill in at 3B, and 1B, which helps too. Good for JD though.
  3. I believe the Red Sox are 11-5-1 so far this season, which sounds better than 3 games over 500.
  4. Caleb Martin was good all series, and the Celtics continued to leave him open.
  5. Well said.
  6. I still can’t believe that the powers at be in MLB didn’t have everyone play the same amount of games.
  7. JD hit his 11 HR last night, and now has 36 RBI. He’s still got some life in the old bat.
  8. Like I said earlier the next 10-14 days are big for Duran. Play like he has the past week, or so, and it’s a easy decision to send him back down, but play somewhat like he did when he was called up, and it will be a harder decision. At any rate the Red Sox do not need 6 OF. Arroyo will be back soon, and most likely Reyes will be gone anyway. Valdez has come back down to earth too let’s remember all these guys (Duran, Chang, Reyes, and Valdez) were only called up, because of injury. All have contributed, but all can go back down too.
  9. Or needed for that matter. Just like the OF the IF has a possible numbers crunch too, and something will have to be done with Arroyo soon.
  10. Duvall is DH at Worcester tomorrow.
  11. I’m not saying Duran is a lost cause, but only I just think he was playing over his head when he came back up. I agree on the you hit, you play, and no Duvall isn’t back yet, and who knows if he will come close to picking up where he left off with the bat.
  12. I don’t see the Ref Man being DFA. The next two weeks are big for Duran though.
  13. I’m not just counting his last 23 just, because that was mentioned. I just don’t think he is as good as he showed when he first come up. Duvall doesn’t make the Ref Man obsolete. The only way that would happen is if Casas doesn’t sit against LHP, and Yoshida doesn’t DH. Duvall doesn’t change any of that.
  14. I believe you are right Sir.
  15. Duran who when first called up was exciting, and playing way over his head, but he has gone back to his old self at least with the bat. He’s 14 for his last 23, and I don’t mean hits, but K’s. The only hits he had was against that batting practice pitcher Arizona threw out there the other night. If Duvall comes back healthy, and hits not where he left off, but enough I don’t see much of a chance of Duran being in any kind of a platoon with anybody, and sent back down. They’ve got 5 OF now, and 6 if you count Kike, and they certainly don’t need 1 more.
  16. Noah Song has been transferred to the 60 day IL by the Phillies. That lower back must be really bad.
  17. Is Mondesi the Ghostly name I keep hearing, but hasn’t been seen?
  18. Arroyo, and Kike were already options there, and the Red Sox weren’t going to spend anymore money just like at SS when Story went down.
  19. The real Story Land opened this weekend, but the Red Sox Story Land has been down for repairs more than he’s been opened.
  20. I think the lowball offer to Bogey was the telltale, and it was just spin, and grin after that. Certainly his play at 2B last year did not change anything for the plan for this year as Story was the plan to play SS.
  21. 1967 was a good of a race as you can get with 4 teams fighting for 1 spot, and coming down to the very last game. No divisions are the fairest way of all with everyone playing the same schedule, and best records going on to the postseason.
  22. When lots of posters on here kept asking who was the Red Sox were going to sign to play SS after Bogey left I kept saying Story was going to be the SS, and that was going to be the plan until he game up lame throwing in the offseason to getting ready to play SS. I get it that Story is a good 2B, but I believe the plan all along when Story got signed was to play 2B for 1 year, and then take over SS for a few years until Mayer was ready. It wasn’t really that hard to come to that conclusion no matter how good Story looked at 2B.
  23. Story may be very good at 2B, but he was signed to be a SS even though he had a bad arm in Colorado.
  24. I get that point, and I would get rid of divisions altogether, but the Red Sox have played in the same division since divisions were created, and when they have been good enough they have made the postseason, and beyond, so all of this gee if we were in a different division we would have a better record, and a better standing is just sour grapes. Get good enough, and it doesn’t matter what division you are in, and what the schedule is. I would rather play the Yankees 25 games a season compared to 19, or 13 myself, and let the chips fall where they may.
