  1. I understand all of this, but the fact is he has only pitched 219 career innings, and only 146 innings as a starter. Having missed time for whatever reason doesn’t change that. No doubt he has good stuff, but that doesn’t always translate to success on the mound. I would just like to see more innings under his belt, before I offer him a huge long term contract.
  2. This has nothing to do, or take away from the fact that Cro Man has such a limited resume,
  3. They only way I see Masa spending much time in the OF this coming year is if Masa is raking at the time, and not hitting pingpong ball to the IF, and someone like Raffy being injured, so he can’t play in the field, but can DH.
  4. Sale got out from under the bad injury juju that has enveloped Boston the past few years that has bitten Story since he’s been here, and got Gio last year. I don’t think ANYONE is saying nobody has ever had a bounce back year in Boston.
  5. Bogey already had a long resume, and had won two championships with the Red Sox when he signed while Cro Man doesn’t have much of a resume at all.
  6. I agree that locking Bogey long term would not have been worth it long term.
  7. I agree on Masa not doing much of a sniff in the OF unless he’s still looking for that ball that got stuck in that lightbulb in the wall.
  8. Like Sale they would probably have to play for someone else.
  9. I don’t believe Lester was asking for big money, and no one knows what Bogey would have taken if offered something earlier than becoming a FA. Mookie was a whole different story.
  10. Something will get done IMO, but most likely with an opt-out, which won’t be for as long as most on here will like.
  11. I said that at the time of the trade that he may only be here for 1.5 yrs. Right now the Red Sox are haggling over$.5M with Duran, which isn’t a good sign either.
  12. Like I said yesterday the Red Sox wouldn’t pay Lester, Bogey, or Mookie ALl had contributed to WS championship teams, and Cro Man’s resume whatever little there is of it doesn’t warrant at this point the sky’s the limit IMO.
  13. I’m sure the Red Sox are trying to hammer out a deal for the Cro Man, and something most likely will get done, but I’m not so sure the Red Sox are All in, and in a whatever it takes opinion to get it done.
  14. Trading some suspects is not trading the world IMO. Trading Mookie was trading the world. I’m sure the Red Sox want, and have wanted lots of players, but they just didn’t want to, or couldn’t outbid the big heavy spenders. I’ve said for the last two years the Red Sox would have to trade some suspects to get any good pitching, and they traded some. They may have to trade even more. It’s not the end of the world, and these suspects most likely aren’t all going to live up to all the hype either.
  15. Over/Under on how many innings Yoshida plays in the OF this year for the Red Sox, or anyone else?
  16. Cro Man is already set at $3.8M this year, and with a Cy Young type year next year his arbitration payment payment may go up to somewhere around $15M. I’ve seen some suggestions on here of starting Crochet out with $20M+ for those two years. 219 career innings pitched, and only 146 as a starter is not much of a resume to me to just throw out $150M-$200M long term contracts. Yes he has good stuff, but to me he would have to prove more to just throw all this money at him. The Red Sox didn’t pay Lester, Bogey, or Mookie all who not only proven track records, but proven track records in a Red Sox uniform, and all won Championships some more than one. We’ll see where JH, and Brez go with this..
  17. The only projections I care about right now for Crochet is making 35 starts, and 175+ innings pitched.
  18. Well it’s all in Brez’s hand now, so we’ll just have to wait, and see what they come up with. It will also be interesting to see what Detroit does with Skubal.
  19. No doubt he has good stuff, but I need to see more than 32 career starts, and 146 career innings as a starter, before I’d offer him any long term 6 figure contracts, and to dub him dang good.
  20. I’m not the one who brought Bello into the conversation.
  21. I get what you’re trying to say, but Crochet has only pitched 219 innings so far in his career, so to me that’s to few innings to say if he’s a good pitcher, or a really good pitcher. Bello got nowhere near the contract being suggested for Crochet. Skubal had a great year, and won the CY Young this past year, but I’d want to see him have another good year this year, before offering him the moon. Supposedly Cro Man’s people gave teams parameters before any deals for the Cro Man was made , so if that’s the case Brez has an idea what it will take.
  22. I ask you the question I did before. What’s the comp out there for someone his age, and lack of much of a resume to get a contract that you, an others are suggesting? I’m not for overpaying someone just because we gave up some high ranked suspects. Only time will tell on what was the right way to do this, and what Brez will end up doing.
