  1. Correa is not even close to being a young ARod. Correa will be 28 in September. He's never had 100 RBI's or 30 home runs in any of 7 seasons in the bigs. He's an average player on a talented team (with Altuve, Bregman and Brantley).
  2. It's going to be a long season. If we can get to 80 wins that will be a huge achievement.
  3. We got 162 after all.
  4. We are not playing 162. How many games will be played?
  5. Big Papi was a proven PED user. How did he get in if the standard is that PED users are banned? I get the BBWAA liked Big Papi, he was approachable and smiled and laughed with them (he was a good ambassador). He won several World Series. But tested positive in 2003 (when Sammy Sosa and Alex Rodriguez tested positive). What's different from Bonds, Clemons, Palmeiro, McGwire, Sosa, Rodriguez, Ramirez, et al. Unless these other guys are in, he shouldn't be either. And I rooted for him from the beginning. My first date with my wife was a walkoff hit by Ortiz.
  6. With 3 months until opening day, the lockout continues.
  7. This is just another terrible acquisition. Bradley was terrible before he went away. And amazingly he got worse.
  8. The Sox should be looking at: 1). Freddie Freeman, 2). Corey Seager 3). Kris Bryant 4). Clayton Kershaw 5). Robbie Ray 5). Carlos Rodon
  9. If I'm the GM, I'd make a run at Freddie Freeman. I believe he easily has 3 to 5 years left in him. The last time we got him out was 2015 and he got hurt during that game. Dude can hit and get on base.
  10. I'm really going to miss listening to him on NESN. The last two years with COVID, listening to him tell it as saw it on air with that NE accent, really gave the broadcast a local feel (nothing against O'Brien or Eck). I always rooted for him from when he was at the Angels. That kind of history and perspective will be sorely missed. He had a tough life. RIP.
  11. We need to up our OBP. Bogey at 0.353 is okay (it's average). But Devers at 0.338 is terrible. He needs to up that career average. Can he become more selective, sure, but he needs to do it this coming year or bye bye. Free Agents to look at: 1). Freddie Freeman - OBP 0.384 ** 2). Kris Bryant - OBP 0.376 ** 3). Corey Seager - OBP 0.367 ** 4). Anthony Rizzo - OBP 0.369 5). Michael Conforto - OBP 0.356 6). Brandon Belt - OBP 0.358 ** He'd be my first choice.
  12. The problem for the Red Sox is OBP. Too many guys not getting on base: Franchy Cordova, Marwin Gonzales, Danny Santana, and Jonathan Arauz should be looking for new job. Terrible is a good word for them. Bobby D and Jarren D either need to figure out how to get on base or they are done after 2022. While I don't mind Christian Arroyo, he needs to learn from Schwarber and figure out the strike zone. He needs to improve his OBP or he's done. And while everyone loves Devers, and he's good, he needs to seriously raise his anemic OBP (overall it's just 0.338). At this point he's a below average player. Lots of big swings, lots of swings and misses (at this point he's more like Cecil Cooper). Think Jim Rice at 0.352 is low. Dwight Evans was more elite at 0.370
  13. You robot fans must really hate people.
  14. After Rodriguez's taunting incident, the Red Sox scored just 3 runs in 3 games (okay, we scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th and another run in the 8th inning of the game after Rodriguez completed the Top of the 6th). After that game all the momentum shifted. We went cold and Houston heated up. Rodriguez is supposed to be a professional (that's on the manager to counsel his players appropriately). Correa didn't make the gesture towards Robles (who gave up the homer) or towards the Red Sox dugout, but to his own dugout. Is that any different than the head tapping and waving Red Sox players do toward their own dugout when they get a hit? Nope.
  15. I'd give MOY to Gabe Kapler and the Giants: 107 wins. Other than Posey, Longoria, Crawford, Bryant and Yaz, I can't think of another player. They didn't even have 1 player with 500 AB's (the Sox had 6). Cora did fine, but Kevin Cash and Dusty Baker did better. As for coronavirus, everyone was dealing with it. The managers of teams with the lowest case numbers should be applauded as they and their players took it more seriously than others.
  16. If I'm the GM I want to buy wins. So need to make a run at Freddie Freeman, Corey Seager, and Kris Bryant.
  17. If I'm the GM I want to buy wins. They need to make a run after Freddie Freeman, Corey Seager, and Kris Bryant.
  18. No. The game is the game. Why not put robot players in there too? The human element is why we like playing and watching the game.
  19. Still not sure why Cora is not playing Dalbec (who played all year) and why JD is still batting 5th. While Dalbec at this point isn't as good of a hitter as Arroyo, he has more pop and posses a threat to the pitchers (especially lefties). The lefty/righty/lefty/right batting order is overrated. I'd move Kiki back to 2nd, move Schwarber to the outfield and Dalbec back to 1st. Use Arroyo as PH. I wish my first post was on a day we won, but ...
