Look at it this way, if you continue to trade mlb players for nothing but prospects that’s what you end up with nothing but prospects , he’s not getting mlb ready players to put on the field, that’s why you have Dalbec and Cordero on first and a steady stream of minor leaguers coming threw, he got rid of the talent that was mlb ready, so in effect it’s already sucking

I think your missing one important thing here, you need a trade partner someone to trade with who wants a DH having a bad year or pitchers having health problems or on the il or just old, teams are trying to get better not take our problems off our hands, Bloom had very little talent to offer because we had very little talent left to offer.

Read an interview with Betts a couple weeks ago he said if the Sox offered him what the Dodgers did he would have signed here

He never did test the market and as it turns out the Sale contract because of injury has been awful. Have you read the Betts contract very creative. His $365 million will be paid over 24 years, every year $8 million is deferred from his salary to be paid after contract expires, so his yearly payroll salary is in the mid $20 million while his luxury cap salary will be around $25 million a year for the length of the contract this year the qualifying offer is over $19 million making Betts actually very affordable for the Dodgers, if they trade him the contract reverts to different monetary values making it unaffordable to almost anyone

It’s hard to say why they reacted to Boris the way they did usually Boris starts out with crazy demands and gradually comes back to earth (JD was asking over $200 million and signed for around $100 million) so why they bailed on the first monetary demand from Betts only they know

I have to agree with you at least on the Betts trade and I think it had more to do with getting rid of Price, than with Mookie. Price pitched well for the Sox not $300 million worth of well but well. Price was a bit of a problem child for Henry, arguing with the press causing controversy but the final straw was the fight on the team plane with Eckersley, over what Eck said on tv about a player (not Price) it escalated into an issue and Eckersley even stopped traveling on the team plane for a while, did I mention Eck and Henry are friends, Henry had Betts traded because of contract but also an excuse to get rid of Price and his problems

I’d like to think so but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it, they are in negotiations with Boris for Bogaerts and Devers the two have said that they want to play together so this negotiation could turn into a package deal, if Bogaerts isn’t signed I think you should assume Devers will go to free agent next year. I heard that they offered Devers last winter $300 million and he laughed at them don’t know how true that is but it sounds like Boris
