  1. What can I say, they made the offer there was a mention of first base among other positions
  2. I read that the offer to Bogy from San Diego had him changing positions, i thought that, him not wanting to change positions was a big part of why Boston wasn’t resigning him, they don’t want to block Mayer in 24, if he’s willing to play left field in a couple years there is no reason at all the Red Sox shouldn’t resign Bogaerts
  3. Let the flood begin, Stand back and open the dumpster doors
  4. Who’s fault would that be?
  5. Yes I did because we traded all stars a league mvp some gold gloves and silver slugger award winners, I expected some above average prospects to replace them, guys ready to make the jump to the bigs not a bunch of guys that are more than likely to only make cameo appearances, and I was pretty specific that I was discussing trades only
  6. Whitlock was rule 5, not a trade
  7. I believe most of us are hoping for quality players instead of tier 3 body’s
  8. Yes I believe he was in 2021,
  9. Mlb top 100 minor league prospects has Mayer ranked at 7 and Rafaela at 96 ( both draft picks) only two Red Sox on list. since oct 2019 bloom has made 12 trades and received 21 minor league prospects, the trades under Bloom appear to have added to the organizational depth without adding a player who projects to be an above average big league player.
  10. Why would you trade a very young promising pitcher for a guy heading out the door
  11. I doubt that they sign him now to an extension now, he might not even want to be here anymore, his close group of friends all left this year Vasquez, JD, and Xander, anyway the Sox will be in a better financial position at the end of 2023 season but that’s no guarantee that they’ll offer him the money he wants
  12. It would make the most sense to reset this year, otherwise the tax next year for being over goes to 30% and then 50% of amount over cap and we’re back to where we started, give some of the young players a chance to show what they can do next season and have another year to mature and the tax would be reset, that way they would have a better idea as to what positions the young guys can fill and what needs to be filled by other means then they would be in a better position to resign Devers and be able to really spend big on their other needs, keeping this in mind this year I would try to sign good players to short term contracts (guys not given qualifying offers) that you want to re-sign maybe even splurge on a pitcher Rodon might be a nice choice anyway that’s just what I would do
  13. Even with Bogaerts $20 mil coming off the books, I don’t see the Sox making any big deals just the usual nickel and dime moves, maybe a front line starter, rumor mill has it they’re looking for a second baseman.
  14. No need to worry JH doesn’t care about your wallet either, they just announced ticket and concession price increases for 2023, for a last place team
  15. Xander opted out
  16. Did I say something bad about our farm system, I just pointed out that it’s a supporting character, without the big league team it’s all for nothing
  17. I come and go, it’s going to get interesting after the series players have three days to opt out or declare free agency and teams five days to make qualifying offer, I think Bogaerts opts out, there are 4 or 5 high quality short stop free agents this year so at least that many teams will be looking for a short stop including the Dodgers
  18. You misunderstood I said a farm team has never won a World Series that the big league team has to play the games, all it means is you need more than a farm system you need a good team with solid players before you can win anything, I don’t believe Betts Bogey and Devers were still considered minor leagers
  19. Unless you bring a pitcher through your system and the Sox are notoriously bad at this, or have players to trade for pitching and the Sox don’t have the extra high quality prospects to trade because they need them to field a team. You won’t find them on the waiver wire, other than free agency I don’t know where your going to get them
  20. Want to bet he’s on next years 40 man, he’s Blooms kind of guy, old and cheap he’d be perfect if he could just get injured as well
  21. I don’t think it’s cheaper I even know Verlander was traded for it was just a choice of words, but most of the top quality pitchers come from free agency because teams realize their worth and don’t trade them, instead use up their minor league contract then let them go to free agency or trade them at end of contract in effect giving a team a rental and letting someone else pay them
  22. That won’t do the Sox any good everybody’s arbitration price exceeds the Red Sox budget unless you go dumpster diving
  23. Kelly and Crawford were ready for call up, where Bello, German and Ort were not ready and should have another year of AAA to get rid of the undesirable habits and learn to pitch the right way, and the rest are just the rest
  24. I’m impressed not by the Sox but you took the time to look all that up
  25. Your not telling me anything I don’t already know, good pitching is usually gotten in free agency,
