  1. Well we got the 9th K in 7 innings so there's that but Bregman again, who has numerous RBI opportunities over the past 5 games pop flies out to RF , and the Refsnyder who doesn't see RH pitching too well whiffs, leaving 2 more LOBsters on the bases.
  2. The truth is Kelly is a hack, like Winckowski and was bound to give up that walk followed by HR. He does , in fact and truth, suck.
  3. Don't have a real reason for dissing Z. Kelly but do have the feeling he may give back the 2 runs to rob Fitts of a win chance.
  4. Another pitcher injured as Fitts has to leave. Time for Bello to be ready and return, although Newcomb is the one to go. Remember that famous novel Waiting for Giolito ? Maybe a chest muscle pull ( pectoral) instead of arm ? Fitts sort of clutched the upper chest near armpit. Who knows ??
  5. Red Sox have the lead and 4 more shutout innings will get the win. 8 K's today through 6. 9 more potential outs to get a couple K's to keep the double digit K total working .
  6. Until today's game, the leadoff inning hitters for Boston have been Duran, Devers and Bregman, followed usually by Casas. In the prior 15 games through last night , these guys have started a rally that led to a first inning run 4 times in 15 games. The lineup subbed Gonzalez for Duran today but still followed by Devers and Bregman. Same result---no score to open a game. The average innings to start scoring is the 4th.. Opponents average scoring start is the 3rd. So as noted observationally, the Sox tend to play from behind.
  7. My man Meidroth with another hit. He has never made an out nor failed to reach base in his MLB career.
  8. Why do the Red Sox bother to come to bat in the first inning ? Looking for lightning to strike ? Alter the lineup, same result, Nada
  9. Anxious to see Chase Meidroth in his second MLB game. Can he keep the SSS MLB leading streak going ?
  10. Some player(s) will have to want to win and apply themselve4s accordingly against an aging Martin Perez, who was not good enough to pitch for Boston in recent years.
  11. That game was hopefully the low point of the season . Worse than a bad dream. If they come out flat tomorrow, then we have the realization of a problem that is not small sample size related. It is a problem of who wants to start winning games and playing to their real abilities.
  12. This clubhouse or team in general may need a disruptor in the clubhouse. They have become way too comfortable with weak performances . AC is a supportive cheerleader who leans over to make them all comfortable . There's little veteran leadership. Famously, the only homegrown veteran, Devers, is not interested in that role. Bregman didn't grow up with these guys, nor did Story. Casas and Duran are head cases anyway battling OCD or demonic possession induced by his father. I am not advocating it, but the more sense I get from the outside, the more I'm thinking the change may need to come from the top , AC, although I do not believe that is in the cards, nor will be this year. Another .500 season failure could change things.
  13. Davis Martin, with a 1.50 WHIP just put a 6 inning shutout on them . The Sox, themselves look disinterested. Top it off with old friend Cam Booser coming in to continue the beating. Red Sox may get to him in one of their patented late innings almost enough rallies
  14. I certainly hope the highlight of the year doesn't turn out to be the Cardinal series. As has been said multiple times in recent seasons on this board, the real problem is that this team is just not interesting to watch. OK, Crochet seems worthy of watching, Bregman, Yoshida ( if here) and Story are mid to late career mid level players, the non-pure rookies ( Casas, Duran , Wong , Rafaela) are not showing further improvement, the true rookie ( Campbell ) needs time to see where he can develop . They guys still at AAA ( Mayer, Anthony) are still awaiting a chance. We want Abreu to be a star but is he really Trot Nixon ? This has to be driving the FO & AC crazy.
  15. I'm voting Meidroth for the A-S team when ballots come out.. They guy has offense, defense and baseball smarts . Yeah, we got Crochet , but at a terrible price, only outdone by the Mookie deal.
  16. Sloppy play is contagious. Now Rafaela fails to make a play. Winckowski is a hack pitcher too. Clubhouse shows AC to be very much a players manager , which is good when your guys show some maturity, even the youngsters This team supposedly made a commitment to better defense. It is nowhere in sight.
  17. Breslow better get to serious work on catcher, regardless of when Wong may be right. Sabol is truely useless including at bat
  18. Newcomb is a weak pitcher who works up in the zone and can't get the 3rd out, like many of his type
  19. Casas with another display. Potential DP, but not with his manos de piedras
  20. 5 K's through 5 innings for the Sox. Actually an improvement in K rates over the Jays series. Davis Martin is not yet officially a Cy Young candidate and the White Sox are not yet mathematically eliminated but they hold the 2-0 lead at the game's midpoint. What will it take to reawaken these guys?
  21. It wouldn't faze Triston but AC will keep his boys together for longer than most.
  22. I don't think I have seen a throw to 2B by a catcher float as slow and long as Sabol's. That his an invitation to run
  23. Sabol is a good example of a AAA level player. Newcomb is a good example of a #5 or spot starter needed in the rotation due to injuries. Can Bello get ready ??? He's throwing tonight elsewhere. Then we will need to wait for him tor each MLB speed. Giolito ? Who's he ?
  24. i can relate. Watching Netflix's Clubhoiuse has helped make these players more real while emphasizing the grind of 162 game season. The show reminds you that there is more to life than getting a 2 out, 9th inning, 3 run HR to win the AL East.
