  1. So how far can Wright go; complete game if his stuff keeps working. This game should get him another start , whether at Pomeranz's expense or not. The only trouble is that the knucklebal is so unpredictable that there is little correlation from one game to the next. Any way, glad to see him on tonight. easier to win series when you take the first one
  2. Rafael took the term "walk" to new heights on that one . That was a Hanley no hustle showup .
  3. When is a Devers DP better than a K ? When it scores a run. Other than the shift, it would have scored two.
  4. Lucky he didn't hurt a knee or ankle with that step back. Does one good thing but becomes irrelevant quickly. Bogaerts is also lost tonight after stroking a couple doubles in Houston
  5. Wright's nickname ought to be the Matador the way he dodges trouble
  6. Agree, at least he says what many might be thinking. Not much of a homer and has some insights. Maybe he played once.
  7. Amazing lineup when your #5 and #6 hitters are your utility guys (good players though), and 7-8-9 's combined BA's barely exceed .600 . And your starter is a #6 subbing for your braindead #4 pitcher. BUT, they keep winning with these guys and tonight should be the same if Wright can get right. Thanks again for JDM
  8. I think they will get the three series wins going 6-3 or 7-2. The amazing thing about the current record is that Pedroia has been a non-factor all season (and may continue that way), Betts and Bogaerts both on the DL before May 31, JBJr-Vazquez-Leon-Swihart all below .200 most of the 60 games so far, Pomeranz a late starting dud , even Sale and Kimbrel a little inconsistent. If you didn't know about the 41 wins vs 19 losses, you would think this team was at .500 at best. The biggest question may be whether Mookie's "sore side" is temporary or a serious oblique strain as has been opined by some.
  9. Glad to see that the Tigers were able to at least split with the Yankees yesterday. Wears out both team's pitching with a doubleheader. Now if Steven Wright can prevail, it will be a good evening for the winningest team in MLB.
  10. Regarding Yankee fans and their intrusion on a Red Sox site, it's like arguing with an idiot, you will get frustrated, never have your argument understood, and you'll be covered in spittle. Agree they should stay on Bronx related sites.
  11. Similar sentiments Yaz Fan. There seems to be an element that wants their rose colored glasses polished daily. Devers is likely showing the signs of a very young player who was rushed to the majors and is in over his head. He seems overmatched most nights and has no plate discipline or concept of how the pitchers are working him. Different than JBJr who should have enough experience by now to know how to bunt and to swing effectively as a contact #8 or #9 hitter/defensive specialist. On a positive note, thanks for signing JDM who is actually filling the Ortiz gap of 2017.
  12. Either the showcasing of Blake Swihart goes further on, or Cora wants to give him a lot of room to get it together at the plate, to consider a move on Leon or Vazquez. That outcome is not likely yet. The Tigers will certainly be tempted to run tonight and Blake may look bad between the knuckleball and trying to throw guys out.
  13. So Hembree holds on using only 28 pitches to secure a 6 run lead in the 9th. Sometimes you have to wonder. However, this may actually be the best series of the year to split with Houston at thier park against their best 4 including Verlander and Morton. No story here folks, you can all go home and sleep soundly.
  14. Cora is a freaking genius with these moves. Sitting sore toed JDM for a career AAA'er who comes through
  15. Gotta love Sam Travis showing up with a big hit.
  16. Bogaerts may have his swing back, but hope he doesn't try to steal 3rd while Sandy is standing on it. Time to pick up another 2 runs, JDM
  17. Barnes pretty effective tonight , got them to the 9th. Do you bring in Kimbrel and risk a non-save meltdown or try Brian Johnson? Mitch Moreland will get better once he gets some more experience at first.
  18. 6 of the toughest outs in baseball to come, but would get a really big win two nights in a row.
  19. Brock lands one more. Super Sub. Meanwhile Swihart and JBJr have no real clue on breaking balls down and in, never did, likley won't.
  20. A coin flip that lands on the edge and holds there
  21. Moreland had to try for 2nd base because he knew JBK was coming up behind him
  22. That was a 50.1 vs 49.9 call. Way too much left to chance
  23. What's the book on Barnes ?
  24. WTF was that play by Bogaerts, all he could do or Holt's mistake or what ??
  25. Note that Porcello lost the strike zone that inning and was way high on most pitches. Barnes needs to shut Altuve down.
