I don't think it is a panic to be down 4-3 to the Orioles, but Showalter's team is epically bad. Go ahead and pound the lesser teams , and go .500 with the really good teams. Also , only lose on days the Yankees lose, and they are trailing right now, so are the Sox scoreboard watching ?? Probably not.

We will see how Eovaldi handles early prosperity . regrettably it didn't help Porcello last night. One of the concerns there is Rick's inability to put aside any early issues (ump calls, Rogers Centre/Jays hex, a walk) and bear down back into the game. He had 2 shots at it and didn't hold the Jays either time.

As rough as Rick's start has been, it may only take 6 or 7 to win it, and JDM's home run opens the door to get closer to Gibbon's bullpen. Keep swinging.

At least when Rick P has problems he doesn't do it halfway. He gets a full portion of trouble. You do wonder sometimes what does go through their various heads from game to game.

Further , who actually gives a damn what happens to Drew P. It's not like he is part of the answer as to how the Red Sox win the WS this year or AL East next year. His day is done , so let him go.

That's a pretty weird opinion of the the lack of accuracy and consistency of these hack umpires. Who the hell cares if they were paid for studying the 1/3 ineptness of the umpires. Human error in today's technological age is unallowable.. Just like free speech that counters your biased opinion.

The failure to have an arm up and ready in the bullpen in the 7th inning was a big mistake by Mr. Cora. Not prepared to deal with Johnson's unfortunate 3 run HR. BJ pitched a freat game up to that point and even ended the inning with no further help, but that was on Cora and he needs to suffer Red Sox Nation banishment for it. -
That's all interesting, but to have no one ready or even up in the pen in the 7th was a travesty to some of us. Cora needs to think situationally and be ready , I'm glad Johnson did get the win and that he bullpen didn't cough it up. I noticed ace Kimbrel warming up in the 9th, just in case. Why wear him out ?

Brasier right now should be the 7th inning guy. The only problem tonight is that Kimbrel cannot get a shot at his save or blown save.
