  1. It is almost laughable that a discussion about the rotation and the bullpen rests on the extreme talent levels of Velaquez, Johnson and Wright. Meanwhile guys like Poyner show no real ability. Brewer is a hole (deep hole) filler. Another poster mentioned "complacency" by DD as a factor. I think that mind set infected the whole organization down through the players, some of whom converted the 2018 season into into longer term money (Sale, Eovaldi, Bogaerts) . Others are over their respective hills and rolling south fast ( Pedroia, Pearce) . Some are hard to calculate their true value ( Bradley, Nunez, Leon, even Holt). One is just hard to figure where his head is ( Devers). One is a true professional who delivers the goods (JDM) . The problem with the 2019 version of the Sox is that they are just not interesting, exciting and for now, not competitive. If Chavis sticks at the parent club level and learns on the job , like Bogaerts did and Devers might, then he may be the only bright spot this year. Darwizon maight have the same chance later in the summer. Right now, these guys as a team are yawn inducing. Cora needs to figure out how to get them playing aggressive, competitive ball again.
  2. f*** Barmer in the Detroit bullpen Mistake, Buck Farmer warming up
  3. I know it is stupid and unproductive but can someone on the Red Sox mound pound a ball inside on Cabrera?
  4. Darwinzon throws a shutout inning already surpassing several of his future ex-teammates in efficiency of 3 outs vs no runs
  5. You, sir, are observant. But the hitters will eventually show up to win this one for Hernandez to welcome him to the MLB level of play
  6. JBJr couldn't hit a middle-middle FB if it was on a tee
  7. 3 run hit to left field in Fenway. Who the f*** is playing this game?
  8. Another brilliant start by your #6 pitcher. Into the overworked bullpen again.
  9. At least this game will see the "A" bullpen , whatever they will bring to the party. Cora saved them in anticipation of a sweep which didn't happen when the bottom 4 guys puked it up in the first game
  10. Beni will not be the player people think he is . A good mix in a strong lineup but not a power hitter and has no outfield arm.
  11. Winning the Ws last season fir the 4th time in 15 seasons was a great accomplishment. But it did induce a coma that has removed all sense of urgency and motivation on the field and in the FO. Whatever happens is cool and not to lose sleep over. get your extension or big payday FA and move on. It is not surprising and shouldn't be real disappointing because it may be nothing but human nature. Just don't get the idea that you may repeat and be dominant like the Patriots have been. One thing to note with Bill B. is the willingness to change the personnel mix after a SB win.
  12. Now you may lose JDM for a while. The only hitter with any talent
  13. I think I finally figured out my problem with this 2019 version of the Sox. They simply boring, not interesting or exciting in any way. So we pick on the usual suspects and run them into the ground while the team as a whole slumbers on. No f'ing excuse for not scoring 5 or more at home.
  14. The replacements were available in the off season. The FO assumed they could stay lucky and skate through without spending or critically evaluating the talent. If the guys we have are the best possible combination of relief pitching then I feel bad for baseball.
  15. Sox remain one of 8 teams in MLB with single digit win totals. The good news is that with a 7-1 run through the rest of April, they can finish 16-15. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging
  16. Good thing Chavis got his cherry popping hit out of the way early.
  17. JDM and his power arm makes the trade of JBJr inevitable, so Mookie can play center. ( Joking, folks) Benintendi would be so lucky to have JD's arm.
  18. Poyner is cannon fodder in a "tap out" game
  19. This game was 3-3 going into the 8th. Cora is managing game 2 when he brings in Brewer , saving Barnes/Brasier/Workman/Walden. AC used his 3 weakest relievers back to back hoping to get lucky. Got screwed instead, and then his #1 & #2 hitters kicked him in the groin.
  20. Here comes a 4 run rally, take it to the bank
  21. BP ERAs Hembree 5.56, Thornburg 5.59, Brewer 8.31 (and will have 2 losses)
  22. I would have preferred to pull Brewer than the infield . DD really rolled craps when he thought he could paste a BP out of some of these guys.
  23. It nevers seems to happen, but does anyone think an IBB to load the bases and set up the DP is a better strategy than pulling the infield in ?
  24. Brewer is a real treat. Watched him lose one of the AZ games
  25. JDM is an exciting player in all areas
