  1. Hector up to 25 pitches and loading the bases. He is a stud. terrible mechanics here comes the bases loaded walk
  2. Gorky in RF next year? Needs about 2 more steps of quickness and a way bigger bat to give him a chance of hitting a ball
  3. But count on guys like Hector, BJohnson, Cashner to fill out your rotation.
  4. I think the RS ownership statement about targeting $208 million for 2020 tells you all you need to know about a couple players. No JBJr for $10m, no Mookie for $23million ( get 2 prospects), no Porcello, no Moreland or other $6M first baseman. If you like 4-9 today be ready for more of it next year. Cora will get buried by the sewage from the 2020 Red Sox. This trend should have become very clear at the trade deadline and the false bravado by the FO that we would compete with what we had before promptly dropping the next 8 games. DD got himself fired because he knew what the future was.
  5. It adds up to .465 , what's the problem ? Better than TSW's .406 BA in 1941. Gorky is an all-timer
  6. Mike Shawaryn must be very tired from digging the hole he buried himself in. Showing little ability to pitch effectively. Weber the grillman did what he does with his slop, sometimes on, sometimes off. The GM committee has their work cut out.
  7. Like you, have been to both parks multiple times, and agree with your onservations. Fenway remains special as you see the green grass and walls coming up from the concours which is like a bad subway station in a thrid world country. The Trop is good because you can spread out with no one around you or move seats to get different angles on the game.
  8. That's the dilemma , cost vs effectiveness. You pretty well know what you get with Rick, and he's not getting younger, little upside over his current abilities. Going to an FA is always a crapshoot , but at $10MM and below/year for no more than 3 years for a reliable #4 could make sense. Just don't expect lightning in a bottle. I have always liked Mitch Moreland but that's when I could see him, not in June-July and Augusts. Just cannot pay him $6 million for 300 and fewer AB's per year. Tough choices especially since we don't know if Chavis is a full season day in -day out guy. Sam Travis is not going to make a real difference. He has reached his Peter Principle level IMO.
  9. So is it better to have aa great ballpark and a poor MiLB system or great prospects and a terrible place to play? Answer: You can always move the guys to a better place, not necessarily Montreal.
  10. Enjoy Danube cruise, should be beautiful in the Fall. Enjoy ypur on point commentaries
  11. 2 years at $5 million each and Rick is a done deal. Don't think he'll take it, then to the NL so you hit more often and help your cause, Mr. P.
  12. Showcasing them certainly does not help their market value . It would be a surprise to see either one in ST next February , but I think there'll be other surprises to downplay the presence of these two.
  13. JD's odd year certainly piled up stats that should be satisfactory for any AL DH. However, his seeming never ending chasing of the low away breaking ball remains in explicable for such a student of hitting. Why does he think he saw so much of those pitches??? Because he swung at most of them and missed. Strange
  14. That certainly was a special game. After taking a nice lead, the throwers threw it up and the hitters lost interest. The most recent WS champions playing a team still in contention and Cora could only field AAAA pitching, except Hembree, and his bottom 3 hitters have combined BA's just over .400. The game was meaningless to Boston but I don't see any spark of even wanting to be out there competing. There is something wrong in the core of this team. Makes one more tolerant of a new GM who may blow it up . Right now these guys stink, and probably know it, but like Pigpen, it's who they are in 2019
  15. I have no fear that the Yankees will be among the last losers, if only to see the rationalizations from some commenters. It may not have been a real internal coup at Fenway a couple weeks ago, but there's no doubt, given the internal promotions, that the working FO staff did not agree with DD and his guys approach to the roster. Looks like the younger fellows were listened to by John H. Of course, that makes La Russa's prior role and ongoing retention a little more difficult to perceive . If getting someone to work for the Sox is a bit difficult they should check this board. Has to be 12-15 people who would jump at the GM job and probably do well !
  16. Today's internal promotions in the scouting department seem to reinforce that. If an outside GM was brought in, they would not have made these moves. Frank Wren and Eddie Bane were moved out of the way, and probably are being given a minor share of the blame to supplement Dombrowski's for the state of the MiLB pipeline going dry, especially in pitching. The two edge sword is still the thrill of a record season and WS win in 2018 and the flop in 2019. Keep in mind there will be only one big winner in 2019, so one of the Yankees, Astros, Dodgers who did play well in 2019 is going to be very disappointed to lose their last game of the season. A's , Guardians, Braves , Cardinals might be happy just being there.
  17. I think we have some rancor in the clubhouse. Hope it doesn't lead to a fight in the showers, which can be slippery wen wet
  18. .091 then, .079 then, ,052,then, , ,038 followed by DFA
  19. Sounds a lot like Porcello, we must have cornered the market
  20. 2 years at $5 Million to be the #5 starter and I'll take him
  21. Travis, Hernandez, Owings and Centeno . 44% of the Pawsox last place team. I bet Worcester can't wait to see the stars of yesterday in the Sox system. These are your Boston Red Sox in a year where no one from the FO down to the 25th man gave a damn about performance, with the exceptions of Devers, Bogaerts and Rodriguez.
  22. ******** Smith blows it as always. Cora is the cursed one having to run these AAA losers out there. The team is struggling to get to 81 wins
  23. I don't care if the Devils get hits off Smith, but a walk or HBP and I will curse him forever.
  24. Mitchie 4 Bags is real good in April and September. The other 120 days, not so much
  25. JDMF does it again.
