  1. Can anyone pick up Kike at 3rd with one out ???? How about it ????
  2. 18 pitches to get 1 out so far, time to get the DP
  3. Maybe in the next 7 inning doubleheader game coming up to save the BP for the second game
  4. Cabrera took strike 3, then rolls a ball past first.
  5. The last pitch to Dalbec was way too close to just take, then bitch. swing the bat and foul it if necessary. Big break, 2 on 1 out and no one hits the ball anywhere vs a LH pitcher
  6. All Renfro need to do was put the ball in play , but nice swing Hunter . If you had let the bat slip it would have been in the upper deck
  7. The baseball gods owed us a few breaks. Now , take advantage and get up by more than a GSlam
  8. Cannot criticize the outcome tonight but Erod is a proven "nibbler" not a challenger. That's why he uses 99 pitches to get 5 innings and very glad it is a 2 hit shutout. The team needed that performance
  9. If you can hit to left field as a LH batter , Fenway becomes a more friendly home field. Wall ball a la Boggs
  10. I was thinking of Schoop when he cracked that double last night. On a one year contract ($4.5MM) , would have prorated out about $1.5 for final 55 games. Schwarber may be great coming in fresh, but he may also reinjure the hammy on Day 1 or be totally out of synch against new pitchers . The real point is that they needed help against the Rays, not in 10 days (maybe)
  11. Yeah, Central Park, NYC, after dark carrying a money bag while wearing a Red Sox uni shirt . Sorry , couldn't resist the lay up opportunity. Thanks for the assist
  12. I think most of the frutration with this year's deadline limited actions is that a team doesn't always find itself in the top spot , especially with some level of overachievement, so how can you let the opportunity pass without a major commitment right then. Even with a roster overhaul and upgrade for 2022, you cannot predict the outcome conclusively . I do think the "metrics" told Bloom and Henry that they were lucky to be in first place, but it was not sustainable and a couple of lux tax busters would not be the difference for a WS appearance. So they stayed under the tax line , stayed on plan to rebuild from the bottom up through the farm, and remain patient. Let this group of players continue to contend in their own way and see what happens, call it a success no matter what.
  13. Hamels will be lucky to get 5 or 6 starts at max for the Dodgers , 25-30 innings at best. Lucky to make the LAD postseason roster if his shoulder stays attached.
  14. Agreed. Bloom and Ownership need to replace about 10 to 12 current roster inhabitants over this winter . Their actions then will tell you if it is all about being cheap or conning the paying fans.
  15. I thought all along that the preseason assessments were correct. The 2021 roster was not a good team, with a few exceptions, ready to compete for a serious WC/Playoff run. In fact over the first 100+- games, that roster overachieved and did very well, among the top 2 or 3 results in all MLB. Expectations and the desire for another potential WS run , given Sale's pending return and trade deadline additions , got us hungrier to the point of......... overlooking that on a whole season basis Chavis was not a contributor ; Dalbec is not maturing ; Duran is a typical mid season rookie ; Marwin Gonzalez is a end of bench piece ; Arroyo stays injured; Santana should keep his bags packed ; Richards is not capable of more than a few innings; Houck may not be a starter at all; Pivetta and Perez are #4/5 bookends that need upgrading ; Vazquez , fwiw, has been worn out playing in 90% of games; Verdugo is a middle of the pack hack. If Devers, Bogaerts, JDM and Renfroe couldn't carry this team in run production and if Eovaldi and Erod couldn't win every 5th day where the heck did you think the team was going ? The current team wide run production slump and recent starts show the overall weakness. In fact, it is a retooling transition , yes, bridge year where we still have a good chance of exceeding the original expectations . Maybe it is a .500 team with a couple of 8/9 game win streaks, now a short losing stretch for balance and reversion to mean effect. But win tonight and tomorrow vs the Tigers and see how we feel about it.
  16. Just horrendous take by freestanding Devers. All you can do is just run the same guys out there another 50 odd times and hope you don't lose them all. Did Bloom kill this team ?
  17. Not true on the fb of various Sox batters
  18. The ultimate insult is to have Dalbec PH for you
  19. Hah, Hembree gives up a 3 run shot to blow Reds game. Thinks he is still in Boston
  20. Rays lose again, but don't worry the Sox with that. Bloo. Is interested in pitching
  21. Heath Hembree closing for the Reds . Rays down to final out
  22. Why do they carry the bat all the way to home plate with no clue how to use it?
  23. A one man left side exactly where bad luck Dugo hits it. He is a man without a plan
  24. Rays losing in 9th. Could have been fun to win
  25. You have got to be kidding me, Devers, Bogaerts and JDM all K with the leadoff man on. This team is dead beyond imagination. They might still win this one but pretty shocking.
